3 3 Introduction Evacuation is an organised and controlled movement of personnel from a threatened or danger area to a safe area in the minimum possible time and exposing them to least possible risk. Evacuation procedures will be invoked for fire and bushfire, flood, bomb threat, hostage situation, storm or cyclone, earthquake, toxic emission or accidents and for any explosion or disruption to services. It is imperative that the procedures in this policy are implemented for the efficient evacuation of all persons. The policy of Al Noori Muslim School in the event of a disaster or threat of disease is:- Always evacuate all the buildings and facilities to a safe area.

4 4 Evacuation Procedure 1. Executive staff will instruct teachers WHEN to evacuate. 2. The direction of the nearest stairwell/exit (to the elected safe zone) will be displayed as a sign over or near the doorway of each room. 3. Students are not to carry anything with them. Absolutely no packing. 4. Teachers should take class list for roll check on arrival at safety area. 5. On arrival, report to executive staff member any missing persons or unusual circumstances and await instructions. 6. Teachers must remain in charge of class, keeping students CALM and TOGETHER. 7. When instructed, teachers are to take students back to the same room they evacuated. Specific instructions for all staff involved in an evacuation will be prepared in detail and distributed to all concerned (Principal, executive staff, teachers, other staff).
