The orders given by the control box are sent (via a 2-wire BUS) to the installation elements via a control unit which manages the generator, the boiler make-up valve, circulators and the zone valves. The generator and the make-up unit are driven based on a resulting water temperature setpoint calculated according to a water law (according to the outside temperature). Priority is given to thermodynamic heating. A temperature sensor to be placed on each zone outgoing line allows the water temperature of each zone to be controlled by means of a control valve (not included). A water temperature sensor on the installation's return line is used to control the generator and the make-up unit, if any. 3

8 - OPERATION The operating modes are selected using the rotary knob on the front of the control unit (see chapter 7.1 and user's manual) HEATING MODE HEATING OPERATING DIAGRAM Water temperature setpoint A water rule is determined for each zone. An outside temperature X determines a water temperature resulting setpoint Y1 for zone 1 and Y2 for zone 2. The parameters determining this water rule can be set by the installer (see the table in paragraph 8.7). The resulting setpoint for zone 1 is displayed at parameter 4. The resulting setpoint for zone 2 is displayed at parameter 5. If required, each resulting setpoint can be corrected depending on the ambient temperature of the zone and the automatic slope correction (see paragraph 8.1.5). The generator is controlled according to the highest resulting setpoint. The control valve of each zone is controlled according to the resulting setpoint of the zone. Max. water temp. Z1 (parameter 30) Max. water temp. Z2 (parameter 31) Min. water temp. (parameter 32) Min. water temp. (parameter 33) Generator shutdown threshold (parameter 20) 2K Y1 Y2 Z1 Z2 Regional min. temperature (parameter 21) Supplementary heating authorization threshold (parameter 22) Generator authorization Supplementary heating authorization 2K Activation Zone 1 (pump + valve) Activation Zone 2 (pump + valve) X Water temperature resulting setpoint slope in Zone 1 2K Outside temperature No heating setpoint (parameter 23) If generator alarm or if generator prohibited due to excessively cold water Water temperature resulting setpoint slope in Zone 2 Primary pump "COMFORT" HEATING MODE Water temperature setpoint - The circulating pump of each zone is actuated and the control valve activated if the outside temperature is less than the non-heating temperature. - The heating can operate only if the outside temperature is less than the non-heating temperature. - A water rule is determined for each zone according to the settings that are specific to the zone. A resulting setpoint of the water temperature is calculated according to the outside temperature and the ambient temperature of the zone. The control valve is controlled by the zone board according to this resulting setpoint and the water temperature read by the sensor placed on the outlet of the zone considered. - The generator and the make-up unit, if installed, are thus controlled by the installation's water return temperature according to the following: the highest resulting setpoint of the 2 zones for the 2 floor zone application. the highest resulting setpoint of the 2 zones less 5 degrees for the 2 mixed zone application. For each zone, the water rule is determined by: - the non-heating temperature (parameter 23), - the regional minimum temperature (parameter 21), - the minimum temperature of the water circuit (parameters 32 for zone 1, 33 for zone 2), - the maximum temperature of the water circuit (parameters 30 for zone 1, 31 for zone 2). The resulting setpoint calculated in this manner can be corrected by the ambient temperature of the zone: A difference of +/- 1 degree of ambient temperature in relation to the heating setpoint temperature of the zone (adjustable from 15 to 25 C) causes the resulting setpoint (water temperature) to decrease or increase of 2 degrees, respectively. However, this variation cannot exceed +/- 4 degrees. 12

In addition, a self-adapting system (if activated by the parameter P74) automatically adjusts the heating slope of each zone according to the difference between the setpoint (ambiance) and ambient temperature. See details in paragraph If the installation's water temperature exceeds the generator setpoint value, it shuts down and heating is provided by the boiler only. Caution: Make sure that the boiler setpoint allows the water temperature of the resulting setpoint to be obtained. Supplementary valve activation and boiler authorisation - The supplementary heating via the boiler is activated if the generator is not able to maintain the installation's water return temperature at the calculated value (resulting set point). - Caution: During normal operation, supplementary heating is authorised only if the outside temperature drops below the authorisation threshold (parameter 22). However, it may be authorised for higher temperatures if the generator is unavailable (due to an alarm, safety cut-out or load shedding). In case of an unavailable boiler alarm, the supplementary valve is closed and the boiler is not authorised. Alternative generator / boiler operation: If this type of operation is selected (parameter 72 = 0), simultaneous operation of the generator and supplementary heating is prohibited: if the outside temperature is below the authorisation threshold (parameter 22), the generator shuts down and heating is ensured only by the boiler. Supplementary heating control shift (parameter P40) Resulting setpoint Boiler supplementary activation Generator command Water temperature Generator operating safety features in heating mode - A safety device on the water temperature (installation return) prohibits generator operation if this temperature is below the thermodynamic heating authorization threshold (parameter 36). In this case, only the boiler is authorised to raise the water temperature and allow the generator to function, regardless of the outside temperature. The activation of this safety feature is indicated by the flashing of the display. - Generator operation is prohibited if the outside temperature is below the generator's shut-off threshold (parameter 20). Only the boiler is authorised. In order to guarantee a minimal thermal load, the generator can only operate if at least one zone is activated (circulating pump in operation and valve open) "ECONOMY" HEATING MODE The switch to "ECO" mode lowers the ambient temperature setpoint by a value than can be adjusted from 1 to 6 K (parameter 24). It can only be activated in heating mode (inactive in cooling mode). Switching from "Comfort" to "ECO" is accomplished either by hourly programming, weekly programming by zone or by actuating the rotary knob for the entire installation. In the case of hourly programming, the user can activate a temporary override (1 hour + periods of 1 hour during the current day) per zone "ANTI-FREEZE" HEATING MODE (prolonged absence) Selection for the 2 zones is made using the rotary knob on the control unit. Anti-freeze mode ambient temperature setpoint The resulting water temperature setpoint shifts to an adjustable value through parameterisation: - for the 2 Mixed zone application: Zone activation. parameter 28 for zone 1, Floor (factory set at 25 C),. parameter 29 for zone 2, Radiators (factory set Ambient temperature at 35 C). - for the zone 2, Floor application:. parameter 29 for both zones (factory set at 25 C). Each zone can only be activated (circulating pump and control valve) if the ambient temperature of the zone is less than the anti-freeze ambiance setpoint, adjustable via parameter 25. If the ambient temperature of the zone rises above this threshold, the circulating pump stops (after a 1 minute delay) and the valve is closed. In order to guarantee a minimal thermal load, the generator can only operate if at least one zone is activated (circulating pump in operation and valve open). 13

SELF-ADAPTING HEATING SLOPE System activated by parameter 74 = 1. Principle: the theoretical slope calculated according to the parameters of the control equipment is automatically corrected by the system by adding (or subtracting) a correcting coefficient (the value of which is displayed in parameter 90). This coefficient is determined by analysing, in terms of a 24-hour continuous operating period in "Comfort" heating mode, the behaviour of the ambient temperature in relation to the setpoint temperature (in "Comfort" mode). This analysis is also weighted by the difference between the setpoint and the outdoor temperature. The calculation of the correction coefficient is performed separately for each zone. Example: (P) = Theoretical slope (P + K) = Slope increased with ambient temperature below the setpoint (P - K) = Slope decreased with ambient temperature above the setpoint Note: Regardless of the slope, the resulting setpoint cannot exceed the maximum temperature value of the water (parameters 30 and 31) (possibly corrected according to the ambient temperature). Example: To adjust the following parameters:. Parameter 21 = 0 C. Parameter 23 = 20 C. Parameter 30 = 60 C. Parameter 32 = 30 C Theoretic slope value P = = Max. water temperature (parameters 30 and 31) Min. water temperature (parameters 32 and 31) Water temperature If the value of the coefficient K read on parameter 90 is 10 (hundredths), the actual slope becomes: P + K = = The value of this coefficient is reset in the event of: - deactivation of the system by parameter 74, - re-initialisation of the parameters by parameter 60, - an application change by parameter COOLING MODE Active only for the Heating / Cooling reversible Floor. - Parameter 71 set at 1 (reversible). Selection is made using the rotary knob on the control unit. During mode selection, the supplementary valve is closed (to isolate the boiler circuit). Furthermore, in the case of the Mixed application, zone 2, Radiators is deactivated (valve closed and zone circulator off) so as not to convey cold water into the radiators. The generator operates with its own water temperature setpoint (recommended setting: 22 C installation return). Each zone can only be activated (circulating pump and control valve) if the ambient temperature of the zone is greater than the Cooling ambient temperature setpoint zone's setpoint. At this moment, the zone valve adjusts the water temperature of the floor outgoing line according to an adjustable setpoint (parameter 34 is factory-set at 20 C). If the ambient temperature of the zone drops below this Zone activation threshold, the circulating pump stops (after a 1 minute delay) and the valve is closed. Ambient temperature In order to guarantee a minimal thermal load, the generator can only operate if at least one zone is activated (circulating pump in operation and valve open). Furthermore, in order to avoid unnecessary energy dissipation, the primary circuit's circulator is controlled only if at least one zone is activated. Generator operating safety features in cooling mode - Generator operation is prohibited if the installation return water temperature is above a threshold (parameter 35). The activation of this safety feature is indicated by the flashing of the display. - An "anti-condensation" device on the installation's return temperature prohibits generator operation if this temperature is below 18 C. - Generator operation is prohibited if the supplementary valve or the radiator zone valve are not closed. In this case, the "VA" alarm message is displayed. (P) (P-K) Regional min. temperature (parameter 21) Peak limiting (P+K) Outside temperature Heating authorisation threshold (parameter 23) 14

8.3 - FORCING OF CONTROL OUTPUTS Forcing: for maintenance operations only, when the system is "OFF", it is possible to force the control of the following outputs by setting to parameter to "1": - parameter 64: primary circulator - parameter 65: zone 1 (circulator pump on + valve open) - parameter 66: zone 2 (circulator pump on + valve open) - parameter 67: generator - parameter 68: heating / cooling inversion output shut down (for reversible floor only) - parameter 69: supplementary boiler Caution: At the end of the operation, forcing must be deactivated (by returning the parameters "0") before restarting the installation GENERATOR LOAD SHEDDING This can be done: - either by a potential-free contact, - or from a " Tele-Info signal sent by the electrical utility meter (per specification EDF HN 44-S-81). Restricts the operation of the generator (in heating mode and in cooling mode). Signalled by icon on the display unit ZONE VALVES CONTROL Ensured by zone A2 and A3 boards. - Valve in mixed operation (see hydraulic diagram, paragraph 4). - The control issues a 230 VAC chronoproportional 3-point control signal (opening/closing).. Time base = Valve action time (parameter 63) 10 Difference (setpoint/ water outlet temperature). Percentage of the control time = Proportional strip (parameter 38) This percentage is displayed at parameter 17 for zone 1 and 18 for zone 2, ("+" sign = open, " " sign = closed) In the neutral zone (parameter 39), the valve is not controlled. - Valve motors designed to accept opening and closing orders permanently. - The valves must be equipped with a limit switch detecting the "Valve closed" position. (Valve closed = contact closed - to be connected on the corresponding zone board) CIRCULATOR PUMPS GENERAL Circulator pump shutdown is delayed 1 minute. A degripping device allows the circulating pumps to start automatically, for 3 seconds, every 24 hours, if they are off. The circulators must have their own thermal protection (not supplied) PRIMARY CIRCULATOR PUMP In heating mode (Comfort / ECO / anti-freeze), the primary circulator is actuated if the outside temperature is below the non-heating threshold. In cooling mode, it is actuated if at least one zone is activated (zone pump in operation, zone valve open) ZONE CIRCULATORS In heating mode (Comfort / ECO), the circulators are actuated if the outside temperature is below the non-heating threshold. In anti-freeze heating mode and in cooling mode, the circulators are controlled according to the ambiance demand GENERATOR CIRCULATOR The circulating pump built into the generator is factory-set to operate constantly as soon as generator power is on. It is possible to operate this circulating pump only when the generator is controlled by this system. To do this, on the generator's ECH regulator, change parameter H20 to 4 (see generator manual). 15
