It is supplied with a solid state controller that is concealed to prevent tampering. The digital display located on the front fascia of the cabinet monitors the simulated temperature of the stored product, via its temperature probe that is lagged and mounted within the freezer to one of the adjustable wire shelves. In-built into the digital display module are high and low temperature alarm contacts, which are wired to a socket at the rear of the freezer. A plug is supplied to suit this socket, which is then connected to the 'Building Monitoring System' (B.M.S.). Alarm signals are visual, audible and remote connection. AUTO DEFROSTING This freezer is fitted with automatic defrost cycling to keep the cooling coil within the freezer free of frost and ice. A defrost cycle occurs every 4hrs of operation from power up of freezer, where the internal air temperature will rise slightly which will be displayed on the chart recorder if fitted or other logging device. Product temperature however should remain reasonably stable depending on storage levels. TLS INSTRUCTION MANUAL 03/11/05 2

Alarm High Temperature ( hi ) - -10ºC Alarm Low Temperature ( lo ) - -25ºC Alarm Time Delay 3 minutes (When freezer temperature reaches -10 or - 25ºC, then the alarm signals will be delayed by 3 minutes while temperatures remain outside -10 to -25ºC. Built in to prevent nuisance alarming such as adding product to freezer or defrosting which can rise above -10 for a short period during door openings.) Specifications below detail the freezers characteristics. These can be located to suit your needs however, you will need to ensure the clips are level for each shelf. TLS INSTRUCTION MANUAL 03/11/05 3

4 Section 3 Installation and Operation cont. 3) Situate the freezer near where it is to be installed. With the assistance of the authorised Technician, connect the B.M.S. line to the plug supplied. A labelled socket is provided at the rear of the cabinet. Connection of external alarm line (if available). REMOTE ALARM CONNECTION WE STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT THIS FACILITY BE CONNECTED TO A 24 HOUR 7 DAY SURVEILENCE SYSTEM TO ENSURE FULL MONITORING. Normally Open Will close loop upon alarm situation (No 2) Common At least one wire is connected to this pin (No 3) *Normally Closed Will open loop upon alarm situation (No 1) *This is the best option as any break in the loop is detected. Terminate the signal wires into the plug and insert plug into the socket. 4) Plug the power lead into a standard 10A GPO (240V) and switch on. 5) Push the freezer into position. A space of about 75mm should remain between the back wall of the freezer and that of the wall of the building. Lock the front castors by pressing the locking lever on each castor downwards towards the wheel of the castor. TLS INSTRUCTION MANUAL 03/11/05 4

5 Section 3 Installation and Operation cont. FRONT TEMPERATURE DISPLAY WITH ALARMS THIS DISPLAY DOES NOT CONTROL FREEZER TEMPERATURE. TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER IS MOUNTED ON TOP OF THE FREEZER. FRONT TEMPERATURE DISPLAY CONTROL PANEL DESCRIPTION Button Factory use only Button Factory use only Button Factory use only Button Press to mute the alarm beeper. 6) After 3 minutes from power up of freezer, the High Temperature Alarm will be activated with a beeper sounding and the digital display flashing hi. Press and hold button on the digital display module until the alarm beeper is muted. (If at any stage an alarm should occur in the future, then press this button to mute the audible alarm). The display will return to showing current temperature. Remote contacts will remain in alarm mode engaged until the display reads below -10ºC. If applicable check with your security centre to see that they received an alarm via B.M.S. Allow cabinet to reach -20ºC. Note If temperature was below -25ºC then lo would flash on screen denoting Low Temperature Alarm. TLS INSTRUCTION MANUAL 03/11/05 5

6 Section 3 Installation and Operation cont. 7) Allow cabinet to operate until -20ºC is reached as displayed on the digital display. The freezer should be allowed to operate for a further twenty-four hours. 8) Load with stock - Please do so progressively if possible say one shelf at a time. If your product is pre-frozen then the freezer can be loaded in full, although alarm may be activated depending on the initial product temperature. SUGGESTIVE COMMENT ABOUT LOAD LEVEL IN FREEZERS Internal temperatures of freezers or any controlled environment cabinet will generally always remain more stable when product levels are kept high because of airspace displacement. If you are storing minimum product levels, to maintain stable product temperature, particularly during defrost cycles, the addition of sealed water containers can help. Optional Temperature Chart Recorder (if fitted) Although the recorder requires 240VAC feed from the cabinet it is supplied with a battery support system so as to allow operation for 24 hours after power has been discontinued. This 9VDC rechargeable battery is supplied with a charging circuit to ensure prolonged life. A) To initiate logging onto the circular paper, with the appropriate key(s) supplied, open the clear cover by hinging to the left. B) Remove the nib cover from the nib on the bottom end of the arm extending across the chart paper. Carefully hold the arm end with one hand and with the other hand spin the nib cover while pulling away from the nib end. C) With a coin or like, set the chart recorder to the correct time by turning the centre spindle of the chart paper anti clockwise until the nib pen is above the correct time and day as displayed on the chart paper. D) Press the lever at the opposite end of the nib arm to release the nib pen onto the chart paper. Check to see that the nib tip does actually touch the chart paper and if not, using a small screwdriver carefully turn the adjuster screw in the middle of the nib arm anti clockwise until it does. E) Close and lock the clear cover once again and allow the recorder to operate for 8 hours or so to check time keeping. TLS INSTRUCTION MANUAL 03/11/05 6

7 Section 4 Scheduled Maintenance & Service Six Monthly Clean Condenser Coil of the refrigeration system; you will need a vacuum cleaner or soft brush. Switch freezer off at the GPO (wall socket) switch first then unplug the power lead to the freezer. At the top rear of the freezer, the finned condenser coil is situated. Using the brush or vacuum cleaner, stroke the face of this coil to remove lint and dust. Using a vacuum cleaner, gently stroke the coil parallel to the fins to remove any dust etc. *Annually If at all possible cleaning the condenser coil with compressed air will be most beneficial for reliable operation in the longer term. Switch freezer back on. As required - General Cleaning and Manual Defrosting Depending on users of the freezer, it may be an advantage to manually defrost freezer and clean the cabinet entirely inside and out with a non corrosive mild cleaning alcohol or disinfectant. Door gaskets should be kept clean and washed with disinfectant. TLS INSTRUCTION MANUAL 03/11/05 7
