4 ESB Networks ESB Networks (ESBN) are the licensed operator of the electricity distribution system in the Republic of Ireland Responsible for building, operating, maintaining and developing the electricity network and serving all electricity customers ESBN builds, operates and maintains a nationwide distribution system which includes 235,000 transformers and almost 160,000 km of distribution networks ESBN are also responsible for carrying out the construction and maintenance of the high voltage 400kV, 220kV and 110kV transmission system Comprising of over 6,600 km of overhead lines and 30 large transmission stations.

6 Business Drivers The legacy ESBN GIS consisted of 3 systems GeoDart (Custom Bentley System) for design Intergraph FRAMME - As Built solution for central site Intergraph Web Viewer - Web Viewer ESBN required a single true view of all GIS data from plan to design to as built ESBN wanted to drive operational efficiencies through tighter integration of core systems and remove need for double entry of data

7 GIS Requirements Single GIS to plan, design and record data GIS will provide 3 views of data Geographic for accurate DBYD requests Geoschematic - to provide an electric geographic view of the network Orthoschematic Purely schematic electric view Integration with Oracle Outage Management System and Synergee Network Planning Integration with SAP asset and work management and customer service using SAP PI

9 Project Team Following on OJEC tender Intergraph UK and its team were selected: Intergraph UK (now Hexagon SI) Prime Contractor IMGS Rolta Vast experience in Utilities and Communications Industry Responsible for Functional, Technical and Integration Local Front line support team Responsible Data Migration Over 25 years in business Provided offshore development and migration from India

10 Delivery 3 Year Project ESB project team consisted of a central project programme, project board, project assurance and support group ESB implemented a buddy system where both ESB and the Intergraph team worked together to provide resources 6 months Analysis and Design Phase 1600 days development and customisation of application completed offshore Nearly 1 year of testing!

11 Data Migration Key requirement of migration - run in under 48 hours IMGS team consisted of 4 onshore and 6 offshore ESB team invested in a large team to support data migration including full time migration lead and test team IMGS used Safe Software s FME Server to build migration workflows to ensure no loss of data

12 Integration SAP Integration Provide 3 groups of 2 way interfaces from GIS to SAP using SAP PI ISU customer service ARM asset management IWM work management Intergraph team: Developed web services on GIS side to talk to PI ESB SAP Competency team to developed SAP PI component Other Integration SYNERGEE - Using G/Technology Network Analysis Interface Outage Management - G/Technology Outage Management System (OMS) Interface
