Technology: Passively Optimized Lumen output with Automated Regulation P.O.L.A.R. technology is a patented method developed by Holophane to maximize the lumen output of T5 or T5HO lamps in luminaires where environmental temperature may be a concern. It uses no energy, is environmentally safe, maintenance free, and self regulates its ability to dissipate the lamp s heat based on changing ambient temperatures. In today s hyper-competitive marketplace, energy savings are paramount. With traditional fluorescent high bays you pay for and expect a certain level of illumination, but because fluorescent lamps are sensitive to changing ambient air temperature, this illumination level is rarely achieved and is often under performing by as much as 25%. This intelligent technology allows you to receive the illumination levels and energy saving you're paying for, but not obtaining with other high bays. P.O.L.A.R. THERMAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM A non-condensable gas inside the heat pipe controls the number of fins available for heat dissipation in the P.O.L.A.R. thermal management system. This technology essentially creates a non-mechanical thermostat. HOW DOES P.O.L.A.R. TECHNOLOGY WORK? Through the use of heat pipes, a technology that is used in the Space Shuttle, the Hubbell telescope, and on many microprocessors today, heat can effectively and efficiently be transferred from one location to another without using energy. P.O.L.A.R. technology not only effectively transfers heat from the cold spot of T5 lamps to a heat sink, but through the use of an exclusive Holophane designed variable conductance heat pipe it also controls the amount of heat transferred. Technology Architectural powder coat finishes P.O.L.A.R. TECHNOLOGY Holophane s exclusive P.O.L.A.R. technology supplies more light to our customers by minimizing fluorescent lamp sensitivity and optimizing lumen output of the lamps over an extended range of room temperatures without using any energy. P.O.L.A.R. technology is environmentally safe, uses no energy and self regulates its ability to dissipate the lamp s heat based on changing ambient temperatures. HOUSING Two housing designs provide an aesthetically pleasing complement to any environment a utilitarian-styled, stamped sheet metal endcap with an open end or a decorative die-cast aluminum endcap with an enclosed end. Both fixtures are available in 2, 3, 4 or 6 lamp configurations with several ballast/lamp control options. The IntelliVue also touts its stylized protected edges that allow for the addition of a variety of lenses or baffle. STACKED LAMPS Vertically stacked lamps provide a smaller footprint than traditional fluorescent high bays, which reduces harsh surface glare, lowers its overall weight and eases installation. REFLECTORS Reflectors made with 98% Total Reflectivity Miro-Silver enhanced aluminum from Alanod increase efficiency and control of lumen output from the lamps. Miro-Silver is sealed with an inert coating that eliminates static charge buildup reducing dirt accumulation. Reflectors are available in 3 beam spreads with optional uplight for a wide range of applications and come standard with a 25 year warranty. Miro-Silver was specifically designed to significantly increase the efficiency in fixtures when lamps have high incidence angles (found in fixtures with vertically stacked lamps). 6

Technology Architectural powder coat finishes VENTILATED LAMP CHAMBER Each lamp chamber is ventilated to create the venturi effect, a self cleaning convective airflow through the optical chamber. The optical chamber ventilation combined with the reflector s inert coating yields significantly better dirt depreciation factors than HID or other fluorescent high bays with aluminum or acrylic reflectors. ISOLATED BALLAST CHAMBER An air-cooled isolated ballast chamber designed to let air flow freely around the ballast maximizes heat dissipation, prevents premature ballast failure, extends ballast life and reduces maintenance costs. MULTIPLE MOUNTING OPTIONS Both the IntelliBay and IntelliVue luminaires offer multiple mounting options for various applications. Mounting options include a 3/4 single pendant opening, single stem mount, safety hook, decorative cable, safety loop, dual stem mount, jack chain or an industrial cable mount. ELECTRONICS Fully wired for volt, 6Hz AC operation with thermally protected, automatic resetting, Class P, sound rated A, programmed-start, electronic T5 or T5HO ballasts. Dual circuit, dimming and emergency ballasts are also available. The luminaire is UL listed as suitable for damp locations up to a maximum of 55ºC ambient temperature (45ºC with lens) FINISH After a seven stage pretreatment process to insure maximum durability, each luminaire is finished with polyester powder paint which exceeds ASTM standard practice for hardness, humidity, impact and salt spray resistance, fading or cracking. 10 C F OPTIONS AND ACCESSORIES Uplight Optional uplight apertures in the top of the reflector provide approximately 7% uplight to illuminate the ceiling yielding an excellent ratio of uplight to downlight. This effectively eliminates the cave effect while maintaining high light levels on the tasks below Bottom wire guard When risk of impact from below is present, such as with forklifts, this powder coated wireguard will protect the lamps. The bottom wireguard may be used in conjunction with side wireguards and/or lens assemblies for additional protection Side wire guard When risk of impact from above or from the side is present, such as in gymnasiums, this wireguard will protect the reflectors. Side wireguards may be used in conjunction with bottom wireguards and/or lens assemblies for additional protection Lens assembly Hinged and latched steel door frame secures your choice of lens. Baffles are painted to match fixtures, ships factory installed and are interchangeable with lens assemblies Occupancy motion sensor For even greater energy savings, Holophane s intelligent lighting solutions are available with an occupancy motion sensor to turn lights on when motion is detected and turn lights off when motion is no longer detected. Comes standard with adjustable time delay Emergency and dimming ballast With instant-on and hot-restrike capability, Holophane s intelligent high bays are an ideal choice for an emergency fixture. Compatible with standard electronic or dimming ballasts, Holophane offers two emergency ballast packages. The L package is a commercial grade emergency ballast that produces up to 7 lumens with one watt T5 or T5HO lamp, while the M package is a specification grade emergency ballast that produces up to 1325 lumens with one watt T5 or T5HO lamp. Dual circuit For applications requiring bi-level switching or varying levels of illumination in the same room at different times of the day, dual circuit capability is your solution. Customers who intend to mount the luminaire using a single stem should purchase the FPENMOUNT accessory (pendant mounting plate accessory kit). Wire leads, approximately 6 in length, will be provided in the wiring chamber to connect to supply wires. Dual circuit is available with standard mounting. Industrial cable mount a set of two 48 standard length cables with a 1-lb. pull capacity designed for unfinished ceilings. Industrial cables are easy to install and save enormous time and labor costs over traditional Y-hangers with jack chain. Cables do not ship attached to fixture. Industrial cable comes with toggles (requires no tools to install) and a field adjustable releasing and leveling mechanism (tool supplied).
