Ideally, LED luminaires reduce energy consumption, facilitate long component life, and promote sustainability. To meet these 21st century needs, it is imperative that the LED system is properly engineered for thermal and performance considerations. The above image shows the effective engineering behind a dedicated heat sink. Note the convection currents pulling the heat away from the critical components. Optical Precision As shown above, the optical system is designed to accurately replicate a point source, maximize energy savings and ensure design effectiveness. Performance Specifications General Description The Washington Series is styled to replicate the acorn luminaires that lighted streets in the first half of the 20th century. Designed for superior light control, ease of installation, and maintenance, the Washington Series has a precision prismatic glass optical system for true street lighting performance as well as beauty. Optical Assembly The optical assembly is a precisely molded thermal resistant borosilicate glass reflector and refractor. The upper portion of this system incorporates a series of reflecting prisms that redirect over 50% of the upward light into the controlling refractor while allowing a soft uplight component to define the traditional acorn shape. Two decorative aluminum top cover options are available. The lower portion uses precisely molded refracting prisms to control the distribution of light to maximize utilization, uniformity, and luminaire spacing. The very top of this assembly is a prismatic glass cover with decorative finial for tool-less entry into the optical chamber. Two unique optical assemblies are available, designed for IES type III and type V distribution. Electronic Driver Refer to Driver Data Sheet for specific operating characteristics. Finish/Material The luminaire is finished with polyester powder paint applied after a pretreatment process to insure maximum durability. All castings utilize aluminum for maximum corrosion resistance and all exposed hardware is corrosion resistant. CSA Listing The luminaire is CSA listed as suitable for wet locations up to of 35 C ambient temperature. Luminaire Housing A cast aluminum luminaire housing, cradles the optical assembly and provides an enclosure for the plug-in electrical module. A slipfitter will accept a 3 inch high by 2-7/8 inch to 3-1/8 inch O.D. pipe tenon. Electrical Module/Luminaire Housing Door Enhanced and Utility Versions The decorative style cast aluminum housing door contains the electrical components and is held in place by a hinge and latch. An electrical plug connects to the receptacle in the luminaire housing to complete the wiring. The housing door has a hinge and latch mounted to it to allow for tool-less luminaire entry. State Street Version The decorative leaf style cast aluminum housing door contains the electrical components and is held in place by two captive 1/4-20 stainless steel screws. A matching six conductor plug connects to the receptacle in the luminaire housing to complete the wiring. The door has a hook which, when engaged over a retaining bar in the luminaire housing, allows both hands to be free while making or breaking connections. 6 HOLOPHANE Decorative Washington Series LED
