Fewer poles with locations further from the roadway means fewer obstacles for a motorist to avoid. Improved visibility Visibility is improved when contrast between an object and its background is increased. The unique photometric distribution produced by Vector helps increase the contrast. Direct glare from the luminaire is reduced since the unit is out of the driver s line-ofsight. Economical Vector lighting systems are more economical than conventional lighting systems for a number of reasons: wider spacing between poles means fewer luminaires, poles, lamps and foundations are needed; pole top mounting eliminates expensive arms and reduces the pole cost; set back from the roadway eliminates the need for expensive break-away bases or guard rails; energy cost, relamping cost and maintenance cost are also reduced.

The narrow, medium, and wide distributions help the lighting designer meet the lighting criteria with the fewest number of luminaires and poles... increasing motorist and maintenance safety, decreasing maintenance, energy, and installation cost. 6 Performance Specifications Vector The luminaire shall be Holophane catalog number HLA- for use with a watt lamp. It shall operate in outdoor environments when mounted on poles, parapets, walls and brackets. It shall consist of a die cast aluminum housing, a unitized electrical assembly, and pressed borosilicate prismatic glass refractor enclosed in a cast aluminum door frame. The luminaire shall be UL listed as Suitable for use in Wet Locations and Suitable for use in Ambients of C and CSA certified. A vertical and horizontal adjustable knuckle fitter for mm ("), mm (") or mm (") tenon mount (or a galvanized steel yoke) shall support the housing assembly in such a manner that the luminaire can be easily aimed at any appropriate angle. Two stainless steel door latches shall allow quick, easy, toolfree access to all internal components. The door shall hinge at the top and shall be removable from the housing without the use of tools. The luminaire shall be vibration tested and pass an accelerated fatigue test simulating -g peak acceleration for million cycles. All exposed hardware shall be stainless steel. Copper-free aluminum castings shall be protected against corrosion by alkaline cleaning, zinc phosphate pretreatment, and TGIC polyester powder paint with a minimum dry film thickness of. mils. Electrical assembly: All electrical control components shall be mounted on a unitized assembly which shall be completely removable without tools. Disconnect plugs shall be included with the unitized assembly so no wiring or rewiring will be required for maintenance. A terminal block shall be provided for wiring to the power line. The copper wound ballast shall be manufactured by the luminaire manufacturer and shall operate the watt lamp at line volts with the following operating characteristics: starting current less than operating current; primary lamp extinguishing voltage, volts; operating line current, amps; input wattage, watts; and have its power factor over 9%. It shall operate at a minimum ambient starting temperature of F and shall provide lamp wattage regulation of + % for line voltage of + %. The HPS starter shall be totally encapsulated with a material which electrically and thermally insulates all electronic components from lamp and ballast heat. The encapsulating material shall also provide mechanical protection for all electronic components to prevent damage to the components during installation, maintenance, replacement and general handling. The starter shall be replaceable without tools and shall include an electrical disconnect plug which mates to the appropriate ballast and socket leads. Optical assembly: The optical train shall consist of a prismatic pressed borosilicate glass refractor with smooth outer surface and a formed anodized aluminum reflector. It shall produce an IES Type, (II, III or IV),, (short, medium or long), non-cutoff distribution based on a / mounting height offset reference line. The nickel plated, lamp grip, porcelain enclosed, pulse rated socket shall prevent undue lamp vibration and backout. The socket shall be field adjustable to produce a narrow, medium, and wide lighting pattern (across roadway). ANSI lamp label: A self adhesive label shall be provided which identifies the lamp type and size. The label characteristics shall meet ANSI C standard. UL listed: The luminaire shall be UL listed Suitable for Wet Locations at C. Warranty: The electrical assembly shall be fully warranted for a period of five () years and the remainder of the luminaire shall be warranted for a period of two () years.
