1 LOBAY The Lobay luminaire combines the efficiency of HID light sources with special lens optics to create an enclosed luminaire that produces a wide variety of lighting distributions. This makes Lobay luminaires an excellent choice for both installation and operating economy, not to mention exceptional uniformity at low to medium mounting heights. HL /02

It consists of an aluminum reflector with white baked-on enamel applied to the interior and exterior surface. This contour and paint treatment has been precision engineered to provide, with the proper lens, spacing criteria of 1.3 and 1.4. The square distribution is achieved by the Quadrature lens. This unique lens is injection molded with the visual appearance of four separate quadrants joined at the center. This lens design provides a wide square distribution with excellent horizontal and vertical illumination. The Refractive Grid lens is injection molded with a precisely formed array of hemispherical refractive elements on both the upper and lower sides of the lens. These optical elements freely transmit the downward light while intercepting potential glare and redirects it to useful light for the work area. Where excessive moisture is prevalent, a special 2

It is not recommended for use where high pressure water spray is used. The Lobay luminaire is UL listed to U.S. and Canadian safety standards. Ease of maintenance Relamping Simply unlatch the door and allow it to hinge downward, or lift off and remove as desired. After the lamp has been changed, merely swing the door up and latch. Cleaning Wipe the inner surface of the reflector and the tempered glass heat shield with a soft cloth. Enclosed optical assem- bly The standard fixture optical assembly is enclosed. The lens is gasketed in the door frame with another gasket between the optics and the die cast housing, resulting in a fixture with low dirt depreciation. Ease of installation The ballast assembly installs quickly with the pendant mounting plate which threads onto.75 NPT conduit and easily slides into the ballast key way. The optional quick disconnect box or thru-way wiring box can be ceiling mounted or threaded onto.75 NPT conduit. The reflector attaches securely with three hex head slotted screws on to the gasketed die cast mounting adapter on the ballast assembly. The integral hinge design allows for easy attachment of the optical door assembly. LOBAY 3

5 Performance Specification Complete luminaire shall be Holophane catalog number. The luminaire shall consist of two sub-assemblies: ballast assembly, containing the electrical components, mounting hardware, and reflector attachment lugs; and the optical assembly. The complete luminaire shall be UL listed to U.S. and Canadian safety standards as suitable for use in damp locations and ambients of up to 40 C as standard. Ballast assembly The die cast aluminum housing shall be protected against corrosion by a seven stage pretreatment followed by electrostatically applied white polyester powder paint, cured and baked on at 218 C; this exceeds ASTM standards for hardness, humidity, impact and salt spray resistance to prevent cross hatch, fading, cracking, and other corrosion related deterioration. All hardware shall be zinc plated for corrosion protection. Optical assembly The optical assembly shall be an aluminum reflector with white baked on enamel on the outside and to the internal reflecting surface. The door will contain, in a frame, the Quadrature or Refractive Grid lens with a clear tempered glass roundel between the lamp and the lens. When the door is in place, hinged and latched, the optical assembly will be enclosed. It shall contain an integral hinge pin on the housing to support the luminaire while electrical connections are made. It shall have the same corrosion resistant finish as the housing. It shall have 2 cast in side knockouts, 4 ceiling drill points,.75 NPT conduit threaded top opening, and be UL listed for up to five #10 AWG conductors for through-way wiring. Q- Quick-disconnect pendant and through-way wiring The die cast aluminum pendant and/or through-way quick disconnect wiring box shall contain provisions for both.75 NPT conduit and direct ceiling mounting. It shall contain an integral hinge pin on the housing. It shall have the same corrosion resistant finish as the housing. It shall have 2 cast in side knockouts, 4 ceiling drill points,.75 NPT conduit threaded top opening, and be UL listed for up to five #10 AWG conductors for through-way wiring. The fixture housing shall swing up and connect to the Q box by latching the captive J bolt and wing nut without use of tools. A dead front receptacle shall be mounted inside the Q box which will make an electrical 1 connection with the prewired male plug on the fixture housing. The receptacle shall be UL listed and CSA certified for connection to the lighting branch circuits which can then be energized before the housing is attached. The grounding connection shall be the first to make contact and the last to disconnect. It shall be UL listed per UL-1059 (Panel Board Accessory) and UL-98 (Enclosed and Dead Front Switches) and CSA certified permitting the fixture to be disconnected while under load to meet OSHA requirements for relamping. The Lobay luminaire is covered by patents 4,285,034 and 1,140,095. The physical properties of the Holophane Lobay Series luminaires represent typical average values obtained in accordance with accepted test methods and are subject to normal manufacturing variations.
