Co-invented a minimally invasive cochlear implant; the TCIS or Transcanal Cochlear Implant System patent # 6,671,559 B2 on Dec. 30, May 2002 Began contracting with Microphonics Inc., a start-up medical company to further develop the TCIS technology and assist in the pre-market approval process with the FDA. The system is currently waiting for FDA approval for clinical trials. Invented RF telemetry system, developed the tiny self-supporting coils (3mm x 1mm), and patented both in new cochlear implant design. Developed new mode of operation for a hearing aid DSP s class D output amplifier, never envisioned by the manufacturer, in which the transmitting coil operates synchronously with the amplifier. Designed the RF telemetry coils using finite element magnetics (FEM) software. Electro-mechanical & medical devices; research, design, development, and clinical testing engineering support. Designed and constructed all tooling used to make precision computer-controlled winding machine for fine wire RF coils (50 AWG, coil ID <0.5mm).
