14 Campus Parking Permits Students using personal motorized vehicles (car or motorcycle) on campus must now purchase permits via the Public Safety Student E-Market. $50 per permit if registered and pre-paid via Student E-Market $60 per permit if paid for in person at the Department of Public Safety (CPM 113) Students must bring the following items to collect their vehicle permit E-MARKET PURCHASE RECEIPT MILLS ID OR PROOF OF CAMPUS BANNER# CURRENT VEHICLE REGISTRATION
15 Campus Pet Permits & Animal Control To ensure the safety of all inhabitants, the Department of Public Safety holds pet owners to the following guidelines: ALL pets must be registered with the Department of Public Safety. Registered owners must carry PET PERMIT at ALL TIMES. Permits are available at the rate of $50 per animal. Mills College is an ON- LEASH campus. Pets should be under the control of owners at ALL TIMES. Current LICENSE & RABIES VACCINATION are required to register animals (fish exempt) SERVICE ANIMAL & ESA owners may submit certification and/or physician endorsed documentation to register without fees.
16 Lost & Found Lost & Found services are available during regular business hours in CPM 113. 18 Parking Enforcement & Appeals ALL vehicles must display valid campus parking permit or risk citation/towing. CITATION payments double 14-days after issue date. Appeals must be sent during this period. APPEAL decisions are FINAL. Secondary attempts to appeal will not be recognized. See online appeal form at Mills.edu Watch lot SIGNAGE for reserved parking spaces and Commuter/Residential designated lots APPEALS may be submitted in the event of discrepancy or error. Community Service may be granted for minor offenses. ALL individuals entering campus after 10:00PM must show picture ID

21 Emergency Alert Systems & Volunteer Response Registry In the event of emergency, registered users will receive notification and instruction via RAVE and Alertus systems. ***CAMPUS EMERGENCY*** Remain in your current location. Stay away from doors and windows. Await ALL CLEAR from Campus Security Authorities. Opt-in to preferred phone, and text alerts in Mills Portal under mymills Resources
22 Active Threat Evacuate if you can do so safely and then call 911 If you cannot evacuate, seek shelter in a room. Close and lock all doors and windows, turn off all lights, Call 911 if possible Use tips from RUN, HIDE, FIGHT Await direction from First Responders ACTIVE THREAT
23 Bomb Threat Evacuate building, if directed to do so DO NOT operate any power or light switches DO NOT use elevators DO NOT congregate in building lobby or courtyard DO NOT use cell phones or radios within 300 feet of suspected explosive devise DO NOT attempt to reenter building DO NOT disturb unusual objects or packages while evacuating Gather outside at your designated Emergency Assembly Area (EAA) Await direction from emergency response personnel BOMB THREAT
24 Earthquake In the event of an earthquake immediately: DROP to the ground where you are. Sudden or violent shaking can cause injury COVER under a sturdy desk or table protecting your head with your arms HOLD firmly onto to something and stay where you are until the shaking stops EARTHQUAKE IF INSIDE, STAY IF OUTSIDE, STAY
25 Residential Fire Prevention DO NOT light candles or incense in residential halls Use provided lighting or lamps for illumination DO NOT SMOKE indoor or within 30 ft. of buildings Smoke only in designated outdoor areas Exhaust cigarettes completely before discarding DO NOT over load power outlets Avoid daisy-chaining and observe wattage limits DO NOT leave cooking food unattended
26 Power Outages Remain calm Report outage to Public Safety at Turn off or unplug electrical equipment and computers Do not light candles or matches Use a flashlight or walk to lighted areas If possible, keep the following items ready and accessible: POWER OUTAGES
27 Evacuation Procedure Use nearest exit to evacuate upon fire alarm or instruction to vacate Use an alternate exit if the nearest exit is unsafe. Assist others, including people with disabilities, if safe to do so. Gather at your designated Emergency Assembly Area for head count Inform emergency personnel of individuals still in the building or unaccounted for Do not reenter the building or move to another location unless instructed to do so EVACUATION

31 Frequently Asked Questions HOW DO I REQUEST AN ESCORT? Escorts are provided during evening hours to students, faculty, and staff ONLY. Dial the Security Gatehouse at (510) Provide your name, location and destination to have an officer dispatched. Note: Escorts maybe denied in the event of an emergency or other officer assigned task(s). Priority will be given to ADA community members. WHERE CAN I PARK MY CAR? Standard DOT signage and curb marking restrictions apply to all vehicles parked on campus. Parking lots are designated by permit type and may be located on our campus map. WHAT IS THE MILLS SHUTTLE? WHERE DOES IT GO? The Mills Shuttle is a courtesy transportation service, running seven days a week (during the academic year) between Mills College and UC Berkeley (Sproul Plaza). Riders must show valid Mills ID before boarding. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS? Please refer to your student handbook for evacuation procedures, earthquake and disaster resources.
