The D2004 laminate system is also used in ContraTherm C55 subsea insulation which can be installed for use at high temperatures and pressures on the sea floor to 3000m below sea level. Accelerated age tests of the laminate ensure prolonged life in marine, saline environments. The painted and unpainted test pieces were subject to a range of cyclic ageing tests to evaluate the performance before and after ageing.
