21 FACTORS AFFECTING FIREFIGHTER IN HIGH-RISE BUILDING

22 IC should work out a preliminary firefighting plan and consider the following: Caller s information, number of calls, persons reported and their locations; Special life and fire risks in building; Access problems to the building; Hydrant locations and FSI provision and etc. Other special appliances required such as foam unit, hose appliance, etc.

25 Firefighting crews must make every endeavour to penetrate into fire ground and apply water to extinguish fire and reduce fire ground temperature. Positions of jets / monitors previously set up should be reviewed to prevent fire spread effectively; and TL monitors must be diverted away from the windows when firemen / occupants are in the affected unit.

26 All windows and light wells of the affected floor should whenever practicable be covered by jets or monitors. MP jets from adjacent buildings should be deployed when required. The floor immediately above the fire should be flooded if considered necessary. If extreme heat has been built up in the unit, the contents should be wetted.
