Observe all other notes and information not necessarily emphasized in the same way, in order to avoid disruptions that could result in direct or indirect injury or property damage. 1.3 General safety instructions on installing and operating the device With regard to operating the device and to the installation location, please observe the DGUV guidelines on safe working in laboratories (formerly BGI/GUV-I 850-0, BGR/GUV-R 120 or ZH 1/119, issued by the employers liability insurance association) (for Germany). BINDER GmbH is only responsible for the safety features of the unit provided skilled electricians or qualified personnel authorized by BINDER perform all maintenance and repair, and if components relating to device safety are replaced in the event of failure with original spare parts. 7 1.4 Intended use The telephone dialing device TWG 01 serves to transmit an alarm message to one or several recipients via the telephone line. The unit receives the alarm from the Alarm Box AB 01 from BINDER and transmits the recorded messages to the programmed telephone numbers. For test purposes or emergency it is possible to release an alarm directly by pressing a key. An alarm can also be triggered directly via the zero-voltage relay alarm contacts of some BINDER temperature chambers. Following the instructions in this operating manual is part of the intended use. Connection overview: Example with a temperature unit with RS422 interface. Devices with other interface types (RS232, Ethernet) can also be supervised. Figure 1: Connection overview 1. Unit description The telephone dialing device TWG 01 serves to transmit an alarm message triggered by the communication software APT-COM from BINDER to one or several recipients via the telephone line. The unit receives the alarm from the Alarm Box AB 01 from BINDER and transmits the recorded messages to the programmed telephone numbers. For test purposes or emergency it is possible to release an alarm directly by pressing a key. In addition to the Alarm Box AB 01 an alarm can also be triggered directly via the zero-voltage relay alarm contacts of some BINDER temperature chambers. With 3 zone operation, up to 3 different alarm contacts can trigger alarms causing the TWG 01 to dial different phone numbers and to transmit combination of messages which have been defined accordingly. If you want to connect further devices which should trigger alarms, please refer to the original operating manual supplied with the telephone dialing device. 2.1 Possibilities of connection The TWG 01 is connected at the output side to a public telephone network directly or via substation of a private telephone installation. On the input side, the transmission of the alarm occurs via a zero-voltage relay alarm contact of the Alarm Box AB 01. With 3 zone operation you can connect up to 3 different alarm contacts. For the connection to the telephone network you need a TAE-N socket (N means nontelephone unit, e.g. telephone responders or facsimile). 2.2 Telephone numbers Up to four contact numbers of up to 24 characters can be stored on the device. 2.3 Call confirmation The recipient can confirm the call by dialing a code number (chap.11.12). After a defined number of received confirmations, the alarming ends. TWG 01 05/2016 page 8/36

9 2.4 Alarm messages Enter an individual alarm text by means of the voice recording facility. You can record up to 4 messages. The maximum length of each message is 25 seconds. In case of an alarm, the TWG 01 will send the selected messages. 2.5 Electric power supply For the electric power supply the TWG 01 requires 12 V DC/100 ma max. taken from the supplied stabilized power supply unit. Do not use any different connection or power supply unit because this could damage the TWG 01. Do NOT use the TWG 01 outdoor, in humid locations or in explosive areas. This is not permitted and can lead to faults and to damage, including the connected devices. 2.6 Power failure All settings, recorded messages and entered phone numbers remain stored in case of a power failure. To ensure alarm transmission during a power failure we recommend taking the electric power supply from a central alarm facility with a power supply buffered by a 12V accumulator, which is permanently loaded by a charger suitable for permanent loading. To enable alarming during a power failure, the APT-COM computer, if appropriate the monitoring computer (Watch Tool), and the Alarm Box AB 01 must be connected to an interruption free power supply (e.g. battery buffer for PCs). All phone numbers, messages and programming are conserved in a fix memory even in case of a power failure. 2.7 False alarms Never program any telephone numbers of the police or the fire service. This is not permitted. Please consider that you will have to pay for calling the police when you provoked alarms. By mistake the manual alarm-key could release an alarm. You can avoid such a false alarm by installing the unit as inaccessibly as possible. TWG 01 05/2016 page 9/36

(normally closed), logic of the Alarm Box AB 01 Logic of alarm input B and C: open=n.o. (normally open, see chap.2). Connecting the Alarm Box AB 01 (and, if appropriate, further alarm contacts with 3 zone operation) will take place after programming. See chap. 11. Proceed in the order of this manual: First install the TWG 01 and connect it to the power supply and the telephone line (chap. 5). Completeness of delivery, transportation, storage, and installation 4.1 Unpacking, and checking equipment and completeness of delivery After unpacking, please check the unit and its optional accessories, if any, based on the delivery note for completeness and for transportation damage. Inform the carrier or post office/parcel service immediately if transportation damage has occurred. 13 4.2 Storage Intermediate storage of the unit is possible in a closed and dry room. Observe the guidelines for temporary decommissioning (chap. 15.2). Permissible ambient temperature range: -10 C / 14 F up to +55 C / 131 F. Permissible ambient humidity: max. 75 % r.h., non-condensing When after storage in a cold location you transfer the unit to its warmer installation site, condensation may form. Before start-up, wait at least one hour until the unit has attained ambient temperature and is completely dry. 4.3 Location of installation and ambient conditions Select a convenient place for the telephone dialing device TWG 01. The place of the installation should be: close to the APT-COM computer or the monitoring computer (Watch Tool) and to the Alarm Box AB 01 close to a telephone wall jack (2 m / 6.6 ft connection cable enclosed) rather concealed or inaccessible a dry location Permissible ambient temperature range: -10 C / 14 F up to +55 C / 131 F. Permissible ambient humidity: 75 % r.h. max., non-condensing. Note that unauthorized persons may switch off the device or the audible alarm signal. We recommend installation e.g., inside a distribution box. To completely separate the unit from the power supply, you must disconnect the power plug. Install the unit in a way that the power plug is easily accessible and can be easily pulled in case of danger. Do not install or operate the unit in hazardous locations. Explosion hazard. 15 5.1 Opening the housing Figure 9: Bottom of TWG 01 and position of the screws Unscrew both screws at the housing (cross head screws) and open then the housing. Loosen the screws. It is not necessary to completely remove them. 5.2 Pin assignment of the phone cable The adapter plug for the telephone cable is already pre-installed. 16 5.3 Connecting the power supply unit Conduct the power cable through the central housing opening. Connect the conductor end marked + to the screw terminal +12V of the telephone dialing device. Connect the conductor end marked - to the lower clamp of the triple connecting terminal. + - Figure 11: Open TWG 01 with connections of the power supply unit Inserting / replacing the interchangeable plug adapters of the power supply unit The supplied power supply unit covers a power supply tension range from 100V AC up to 240V AC and provides 4 interchangeable plug adapters for Europe, UK, Australia, and the USA. Therefore, it is suitable for all tensions between 100V and 240V AC 50/60Hz worldwide. The interchangeable plug adapters accompany the unit and can be used as required. To put in or change the interchangeable plug adapters proceed as described following: Push the plug adapter onto the power supply unit until it clicks into place. 17 5.4 Connecting the cable to the Alarm Box AB 01 The connection cable (Art. no ) to the Alarm Box AB 01 comes with the Alarm Box AB 01. Conduct also the connector cable of the Alarm Box through the central housing opening. Connect the end of the black conductor to the screw terminal Trigger input A. Connect the end of the brown conductor to the upper terminal of the triple connecting terminal. 18 5.5 Closing the housing Connect the housing shells carefully. Ensure that no cable is squeezed. Attach the housing screws again. 6. Wall installation (optional) You can mount the device at the wall if desired. Choose a convenient place for the dialing unit TWG 01. The place of the installation should be: close to the APT-COM PC or the monitoring computer (Watch Tool) and to the Alarm Box AB 01 close to a telephone wall jack (2 m connection cable enclosed) concealed or inaccessible Installation: Open the cover screws and remove the cover from the base of the dialer. Mark the two holes (Figure 15) on the wall using the base of the dialer as a drilling template. Drill the holes. Feed all connection lines through the rear opening, or use the cable cut-outs on the top or bottom of the dialer. Attach the dialer to the wall. Keep in mind that unauthorized persons could release an alarm or reset the programming unintentionally. We recommend installing the TWG 01 inside a distribution box or similar. 19 7. Connection to the telephone line Plug the telephone cable to the supplied ready-mounted adapter plug at the TWG 01. Use the supplied cable to establish the connection with the telephone line via the RJ10-adapter at the bottom of the device. Insert the RJ connector (Western plug) into the adapter at the device until it snaps in. The TAE-Nplug has to be put in to the N-coded socket of the TAE socket (N = non-telephone) of a telephone responder, a fax-device, or a modem. Connect the telephone cable to the telephone socket. For use abroad, telephone pick-ups are available in commerce. For more connection options of the telephone dialing device please refer to the the original operating manual of the TWG.. 20 8. Connection to the alarm system 8.1 Connection to the alarm box AB 01 The alarm box AB 01 from BINDER is equipped with a zero-voltage relay alarm contact via a DIN socket at its rear which is switched via APT-COM whenever one (or more) of the supervised chambers run out of the entered set point tolerance bandwidth. Insert the DIN plug of the cable, which is connected to the TWG 01 as described in chap. 5.4, into the DIN socket of the zero-voltage relay alarm output on the rear of the Alarm Box AB 01. Contact of AB Pin 1: Pole Pin 2: Open Pin 3: Close If there is no alarm event, pin 1 and 2 are closed. In case of an alarm, Pin 1 and Pin 3 are closed. The zero-voltage relay alarm contact is switched with a delay (see operating manual for communication software APT-COM 3 (chap. 10 Watch Tool ). In case of an alarm event the switching contact must be opened for at least 10 seconds, otherwise the dialing event will be aborted. 8.2 Connecting further alarm contacts with 3 zone operation Please use the other connection sockets 2 and 3 of the TWG 01 together with the COM 1 socket accordingly. 8.3 APT-COM 3 settings for remote alarm In APT-COM 3 monitoring by the monitoring software Watch Tool is activated with the button Watch enable in the configuration menu Watch Tool (see APT-COM 3 operating manual). All alarm settings need to be made in the monitoring software Watch Tool. They are extensively described in the APT-COM 3 operating manual. TWG 01 05/2016 page 20/36

21 9. Electrical connection Possibilities of electrical connection The TWG 01 must be connected to a 12 V DC-voltage. There are three possibilities of connection: 1. Connection to the supplied 12V power supply unit (state of delivery), see chap Connection to the 12 V DC supply of a central alarm system, if installed. 3. Connection to an accumulator with 12 V and at least 1.2 Ah. The accumulator must be suitable for permanent loading by an interruption-free power supply. TWG 01 electrical connection data Rated voltage of TWG 01: 11.5 to 14 V DC Quiescent current: max. 35 ma (at 12 V DC) Rated current (alarm): max. 70 ma (at 12 V DC) Max. power consumption of TWG 01: 1.2 Watt. We recommend taking the electric power from a central alarm facility (as far as existing) with a backed-up power feeding 230V AC (e.g. battery buffer for PCs). Only then the alarm transmission during a power failure is guaranteed. The same is true when using the supplied 12V power supply unit. When using the supplied power supply unit: Insert the plug of the power supply unit into a suitable socket. Power supply voltage 230 V +/- 10 % at 50 Hz, 230 V +/- 10 % at 60 Hz. Current type 1N ~ When connecting, please observe the regulations specified by the local electricity supply company as well as the VDE directives (for Germany) CAUTION Danger of incorrect rated voltage. Damage to the device. Check the power supply voltage before connection and start-up. Additionally for alarming during a power failure, it is necessary that the computer on which APT-COM 2.0 or the Watch Tool software is running is also connected to a backed-up power feeding (e.g. battery buffer for PCs). DANGER Incorrect power supply voltage when connecting the power supply unit. Electrical hazard. Danger of death. Damage to the power supply unit. Check the power supply voltage before connection and start-up. To completely separate the unit from the power supply, you must disconnect the power plug. 22 10. Factory settings reset In order to ensure that all existing settings are deleted, a factory setting reset is recommended after anew installation. You can choose between a software or hardware reset Software reset 1. Press and hold the key. Connect the power supply to the device. The following display message is shown. ERASE? 2. Press and the display shows: LANG? 3. Press and the display shows: PLEASE RECORD 4. Enter your programming code (default: 1234) and the display shows: READY Start programming the device Hardware reset 1. Disconnect the power supply from the TWG Bypass the Factory Default jumper on the mainboard using a small screwdriver or similiar tool. 3. Connect the power supply to the device. 4. Remove the screwdriver and reattach the housing cover: Make sure that you do not trap or restrict any cables. The TWG 01 now beeps every 30 seconds and displays: PLEASE RECORD 5. To access the programming menu, enter your programming code (default: 1234). The displays shows: READY Start programming the device. TWG 01 05/2016 page 22/36

23 11. Programming 11.1 Menu functions overview The menu functions are used for configuring the TWG 01 and offer a wide range of test possibilities. When the TWG 01 is put into operation for the first time the display shows: PLEASE RECORD 2. If you have already made settings on the device, then the standby display shows: SD1 3. Enter your user code (default: 1234). The display shows: READY 4. The programming menu is now active. If no entries are made in the programming menu for 60 seconds, then the device leaves the programming mode automatically. TWG 01 05/2016 page 23/36

24 Ending the programming menu 1. Press the key, repeatedly until the display shows: READY 2. Press again to leave the programming menu and return to the standby mode Display indications Display PLEASE RECORD SD1 ABORTED Explanation If the dialer was put into operation for the first time, then a factory setting reset is necessary (chap. 10). The telephone numbers and messages must then be programmed. This is the display in standby mode. The display appears as soon as at least one telephone number and one voice message are programmed. It also appears during an alarm call. The alarm call was cancelled by the user during the transmission attempt by the dialer Available telephone numbers Up to four contact numbers of up to 24 characters can be stored on the device. 1. Enter your programming code (default: 1234). The display shows: READY 2. Press. The display shows: ENT Press - to enter the telephone numbers 1-4. The display changes between the selected telephone number and the programmed number. Tel NO 1 When no telephone number is programmed, the display shows BLANK. Press the to delete the programmed telephone number. key 4. Enter the desired telephone number. Press, for a dial pause of three seconds. This is shown in the display as a comma. The entry cursor can be moved to the left by pressing.or to the right by pressing. 5. Press the key to save the entries. Repeat this procedure for the numbers 3,3 and 4. Press to end data entry. 25 11.5 Dialing mode You can switch the dialing mode from DTMF (tone dialing) to pulse dialing or to automatic recognition of the correct dialing mode (AUTOMATIC setting). 1. Enter your programming code (default: 1234). The display shows: READY 2. Press. The display shows: ENT Press - to enter telephone numbers 1-4. The display now changes between the selected telephone number and the programmed number. TEL NO 1 4. Press the key. The display changes between TONE and DIALLING. TONE DIALLING 5. Press the key. The identification message 0 is normally used to show general information on the alarm system. The remaining four voice texts A-D are allocated to the corresponding alarm inputs (A-D) and normally show the relevant event (e.g., band alarm temperature, door open etc.). Press to end data entry Acknowledge If the TWG 01 has played the voice message to the recipient, then the device requires an acknowledgement that the message has been transmitted successfully. This is made by pressing the 8 key on the telephone. Message transmission is ended when the message receipt is confirmed. You can set how often the message must be confirmed before transmission is deemed successful. This options are available: ANY-1: One confirmation signal necessary. Wipe the surfaces with a moistened towel. In addition, you can use the following cleaning agents: Standard commercial cleaning detergents free from acid or halides and without alcohol. For surface protection, perform cleaning as quickly as possible. After cleaning completely remove any cleaning agent residues from the surfaces by using a moistened towel.
