I purchased this flower as an unbloomed seedling at the auction of the 2011 regional convention in Troy Michigan. It was donated by my good friend John Kulpa. It turned out to be quite a beauty and a stellar performer. I told John the first year it bloomed that it would definitely be an introduction. Wow has been a common term from hybridizers and customers that have seen this one blooming in the garden. With its heavily toothy edge on both the petals and sepals this one is sure to be a favorite of collectors and hybridizers alike. I think we're getting closer and closer to a true spider with teeth, and I believe this one might be a good bridge plant to get us there. It has the expected vigour of its pod parent and the touch of elegance of its pollen parent. Its Chinese red self is enhanced by a greenish golden throat and white midribs on the petals. It does not appear to be rhizomatous. The name honors the great Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus who established the modern system of binomial nomenclature of genus and species. "Killer Clowns from Outer Space" is one of my favorite scary movies...this daylily has been wanting to be intro'd for a long time now, but it took its good old time multiplying. It is a rare diploid with an applique throat that appeared soon after I began line-breeding. It's not real tall, it's not terribly branched but it is like no other. 67 Killer Teeth KILLER TEETH (2018 ) 30" 5.5" 4-5 way branching buds. Dor, Tet. The name says it all, this one has huge outstanding white teeth on both petals and sepals with a vivid red petal color to boot. Standing on 30" tall scapes this one will not disappoint...
