3 Great things are never done by one person. They re done by a team of people. Steve Jobs Higher education is about building a story through experiences in the learning environment, in social interactions, as part of a team, and in emotional connection to the campus culture. It is these experiences that will carry that emotional connection throughout the college career and into alumni years, evoking feelings of pride, passion, and belonging. Creating environments that embody these emotions is what we do. We understand that shared experiences are at the heart of brand loyalty. Your environment reflects who you are, with every visit providing a vivid opportunity to make an impression. When you partner with Marketechs we embrace your culture and brand, becoming part of your team. We help to tell your story with passion, creativity, and pride. Why? Because First Impressions Matter Woodbridge Circle, York, PA PG02

6 The Opportunity The client was new to athletic branding. We were able to advise them from the project s inception. This provided the opportunity to really explore the PBA culture, develop an effective communication language, and become fully invested in their team. The Challenge During the scheduled installation, an issue with the paint was discovered. Due to extremely high temperatures and humidity, when the HVAC unit was powered, the interior of the facility was saturated one week prior to installation. This prevented the paint from curing properly, thus eliminating the possibility of installing any graphic content to the walls during that installation visit. Palm Beach Atlantic University West Palm Beach, FL Marketechs was contacted by the client regarding a new field house being constructed for PBA athletes only. While historically very conservative in their branding, the PBA team was looking for elements reflective of their values, mission and school pride, while also providing a relatable space for their student athletes. The Solution After discussing the issue with the PBA team, the general contractor, and an outside paint expert, we were able to determine a path forward, without requiring additional labor. A second installation was scheduled, following extensive testing of all painted surfaces. By getting to know the PBA team, and becoming an invested extension of that team, we were able to guide our client to a special and unique visual representation of their athletic culture. As PBA was a very visual group, our design team was an integral part of building a language to reach an efficient, effective, and successful conclusion. The Project Scope Custom build-out architectural features Graphic panels and murals Window etch graphics Illuminated signage Custom directories / wayfinding Logo carpets Custom cabinetry, large monitor housings

10 The Opportunity To develop designs that unify spaces and highlight individuals and team achievements for all sports without emphasizing athletics over scholarship. To keep pace with other Patriot League members pursuing a common pool of prospects. To build from and expand a passionate alumni and donor base while maintaining a blend of tradition and innovation. The Challenge Founded in 1846, Bucknell University has maintained a distinctive appearance while growing into a leading American university. Designs compliment that heritage, utilizing the best contemporary building and communications tools while maintaining financial discipline. Bucknell University Lewisburg, PA Bucknell s athletic campus has grown steadily since the Kenneth Langone Athletic and Recreational Center opened in Articulating the school s standard of academic and athletic excellence has been a key component of each new facility and renovation. The Solution To complete multiple projects over time at Bucknell built on the following: Establishing a strong, enduring relationship with key athletic department personnel; understanding and internalizing the culture and philosophy of a liberal arts institution; becoming a true partner in growth; considering Bucknell s achievements as our own. The Project Scope To design, fabricate and install exhibits throughout the Langone Center: Academic All-Americans, Coaches and Captains, Men s and Women s Basketball, The Student-Athlete Tradition and Bucknell Athletics Annual Award Recipients.

16 The Opportunity Develop a Hall of Fame, the rival of any Division III school, honoring men and women student athletes from Stevenson and its earlier founding as Villa Julie and named to recognize Dick Watts, the individual most responsible for Stevenson Athletics and a legend in the lacrosse community. The Challenge The fieldhouse lobby selected for the Hall of Fame was unbranded, dated and in need of extensive cosmetic and infrastructure upgrades. Afternoon sunlight through large outer windows washed out the interior, including portions of the basketball court a floor below. Stevenson also lacked a central campus focal point, a need the Hall of fame would be designed to fill. Stevenson University Owings Mills, MD From provincial roots as a one year training school for medical secretaries to incorporation as a four year institution that changed its name in 2008, and lead for more than 15 years by a committed core of senior staff, athletic success was a key tool for growth at the university. The Solution Bring together school resources from athletics, admissions and facilities to upgrade lighting, electrical, security and fire suppression systems. Brand the Hall using gobos, halo-lit dimensional logos, a bronze sculpture of the school s mustang mascot, and vinyl applications to glass surfaces. Create a custom suspended ceiling panel system masking HVAC ductwork and wiring. Create display spaces for recent trophies and others. Develop two 12-monitor processor-controlled 2K-4K arrays to play video content and broadcast live events. Develop a touchscreen interactive system for athletics, admissions and campus life. Annually recognize Hall of Fame inductees with individual plaques and all inductees with composite class plaques. The Project Scope Design and produce a technology-driven Athletics Hall of Fame that would also be a major part of campus tours and student recruitment.

22 The Opportunity We were tasked with providing a consistent branding plan throughout multiple areas including the lobby, gymnasium, concessions, student lounge, and media room. The branding plan was conceived and developed concurrent with the facility construction. The Challenge Create interior environments consistent with the architect s designs. Strengthen the University s visual presence within the surrounding community. Drexel University Philadelphia, PA Drexel University representatives reached out to Marketechs regarding the Deskalakis Athletic Center renovation. The University was working with a general contractor and an architect on the design of the facility. It made sense to re-think interior and exterior branding as part of the facility upgrade. Drexel contracted with Marketechs to design and implement the branding plan. The Solution The design used large format graphics, dimensional lettering and illuminated elements, in combination with custom wall finishes, to create a coherent branded environment. Working in virtual spaces proved to be an asset for the design team, freed from the confines of physical spaces that did not yet exist. The main lobby became a primary design focus to create interior vantage points and a central memorable facade when viewed from the outside of the building. The Drexel Dragon appears to loom over and protect the facility through a mainly glass building front. The Project Scope Full coverage graphic murals Custom light box with back-lit graphic Die-cut wayfinding signs Dimensional lettering Curved headers with dimensional letters Vinyl graphics to glass doors Graphics on roll-up window Dimensional metal logos Halo-lit dimensional letters Architectural wall feature

28 The Opportunity Multiple priorities drove branding initiatives at Centre College. Because the team room was a multi-purpose space, security for the awards displayed was important. The room also needed to be able to accommodate large groups, making maximum floor space a key priority. The many achievement displays on campus needed to be expandable to accommodate annual updates. Repurposing existing spaces and features was also necessary. The Challenge Maximizing floor space needed to be a primary consideration in designing the team room. Many of the exhibits installed were located in spaces with no natural alcoves; exhibit components needed to be as tight to the walls as possible. Where alcoves existed, the architecture required special design consideration. Centre College Danville, KY Marketechs and Centre College s partnership began with a team room renovation used for athletic department gatherings and general college events. Centre College had a need to showcase athletic achievement trophies and awards, as well as academic achievements of student athletes. This theme continued with future projects to include branding throughout the athletics office suite and exterior athletics facility. The Solution The Marketechs team designed and fabricated custom display cases that were both low profile and expansive, maximizing the wall space available for awards while maintaining the open floor plan. The full glass front cases created more opportunities for display. Secure locking mechanisms addressed security concerns. All achievement displays featured second surface applied copy to prevent removal, but allowed for easy updates as required. Where existing spaces were repurposed, contemporary materials were specified to provide a modern finish that accentuated the Centre College brand. The Project Scope Architectural features Athletics office suite ADA signage Window and wall graphics Reface existing displays and desks Large-scale exterior banners and signage Illuminated logos Custom trophy displays Achievement displays Dimensional logos and lettering Wall resurfacing and painting

34 The Opportunity The age of the facility presented both opportunities and challenges during the design and implementation phases of the project. The space s unique architecture was a visual focal point in the entryway. Two seating alcoves, with substantial curved radiuses, were to be part of the design plan. The Challenge As with many older facilities, the absence of architectural drawings made structural engineering a key component in the project. An outdated railing system enclosed an opening to the floor below. Special precautions were required while the railings were replaced to protect persons and property on the first floor. Penn State Main Campus State College, PA The White Building, located on Penn State University s Main Campus, has been home to Nittany Lions gymnastics teams since The program has a storied history. University officials sought to highlight student-athletes and create a space for student-pride. Marketechs was tasked with creating an entry space and awards display that showcases the Pride and Strength Program for the Men s and Women s Gymnastics programs. The Solution Temporary pathways were established on the first floor during rail replacement. Components on workstations below were relocated to eliminate potential safety hazards for staff working in this area. The lack of architectural drawings created challenges but provided an opportunity to create exciting exhibit spaces that blend well with the building s brick construction and overall design. The entry alcoves transformed into floating glass display cases to create a focal point and a truly unique experience. The Project Scope Interior demolition and painting Replace glass from existing safety rail Paint safety rail Backlit logo Custom curved glass display cases Dimensional lettering Large wall murals Resurfaced columns Various award wall fabrications
