2 History woven in The FJÄLLTÅG textile collection tells not just one story, but several. Each piece has its very own tale, literally. The elegant, early-20th-century lady on a velvet cushion is but one example. The handmade sewing materials on a quilt cover are another. Welcome to enjoy a new limited edition textile collection. 3 FJÄLLTÅG takes as its starting point the meeting between the past and the present. The simple and the romantic. The massproduced and the handmade. Inspiration has been drawn from Sweden during , a period when the country had one foot in the industrial age and the other in an agrarian society. The collection draws on and passes on knowledge about textiles and their myriad of potential. It harks back to a time when the fabric itself formed part of the palette, and the colours were based on natural pigments. When patching and mending were part of a fabric s lifecycle; a type of natural recycling where duvet covers were given new life as cushion covers or part of a patchwork duvet. FJÄLLTÅG is, in a nutshell, all about a love of needlework and textiles. In times of anxiety and crisis we go back to what we know. Needlework, the process and background regain their importance. 4 FJÄLLTÅG pair of curtains $49.99 The patterns in the collection have their very own tales to tell. The small designs on the rugs, duvet covers and cushions originate from wallpaper that looked out over 19th-century drawing rooms. The romantic roses were taken from a wood engraving dating from the early 20th century. The colour scale was also inspired by the palette of the time, with natural plant and mineral colours such as dark blue, yellow ochre and Falun red permeating the entire collection.

Designer Mina Karami Design with heart and soul The era is also captured and interpreted on the cushions. For example, a receipt from florist Madame Boilève in France, dated 27 January 1907 can be seen in the sofa. Pictures with an unknown story gives an exciting feeling to the room. A hundred years ago you d have your photograph taken perhaps once or twice in your lifetime, and you d put on your very best clothes. The woman printed on velvet, as is seen in this kit, is a tribute to all women of the time.

6 I drew all the sewing materials by hand. I wanted it to feel like there s a person behind the design. Designer Maria Bergström FJÄLLTÅG brings out the raw and honest qualities of the material. Fabrics such as linen, cotton and velvet form a palette in themselves. The velvet alone creates a romantic contrast with the slightly more rustic fabrics.
