Arka turns 60 We are celebrating this with Kasthall! In 1955, Yngve Ekström (1913 1988) designed a low Windsor-style chair for Stolab that was named Arka.

Arka turns 60 in 2015 and we are celebrating this by introducing a new oak version, initially as an exclusive, numbered edition with a production run of only 155 chairs.

Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg, head designer at Kasthall Cooperating with Stolab on this project has been a lot of fun. Both Arka and I turn 60 in 2015.

1950s speckles I wanted the pattern to be reminiscent of the speckles that were typical for the 1950s but at the same time cutting-edge modern.

2 Arka turns 60 We are celebrating this with Kasthall! In 1955, Yngve Ekström ( ) designed a low Windsor-style chair for Stolab that was named Arka. Arka disappeared from our selection for a number of years, but in 2007 we re-started production and it has now become one of our most beloved classics. Arka turns 60 in 2015 and we are celebrating this by introducing a new oak version, initially as an exclusive, numbered edition with a production run of only 155 chairs. We are also adding a cushion with a pattern that has been designed by Kasthall s head designer for the past 25 years, Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg. Both Arka and I turn 60 in When I received the assignment to design the pattern for the new cushion, I went back to the original cushion from the 1950s. 1950s speckles I wanted the pattern to be reminiscent of the speckles that were typical for the 1950s but at the same time cutting-edge modern. The fabric is a thinner variation of our Häggå Stripe pattern. Häggå Stripe was also introduced in the 1950s. Characteristic tufting In Stolab s Arka-version of Häggå, the stripes have two dimensions, one that is black, brown and beige and the other that is dark grey. The fabric is 100 per cent wool. We then added tufting that is characteristic of the era. The cushion is held in place using a leather band and also has a leather tag with Kasthall s and Stolab s logos. The anniversary edition of Arka is made from solid, oiled oak and has a production run of only 155 numbered chairs, including the cushion. On the bottom of this numbered edition of Arka is a metal plate with the year and unique serial number.

3 Carl table in oak DESIGN: MARIT STIGSDOTTER The Carl table is designed to pay tribute to Carl Malmsten and his classic Windsor-style chair, Lilla Åland, the design of which is stable, natural, functional and tactile. The Carl table takes on the character of the chair with turned, flared legs and a chamfered edge around the top. The round, form-hugging edging has a soft profile to give a billowing, organic impression. All edges are also generously rounded to emphasize affinity with the chair. The Carl table naturally looks elegant with many other types of chairs, and not just Lilla Åland. Lilla Åland in oak DESIGN: CARL MALMSTEN Lilla Åland is a tried and true staple in Stolab s selection and a favourite that on many occasions has represented excellent Swedish design from the 20th century. Carl Malmsten was inspired during a trip to Finnströms Church on the island of Åland, which had several Windsor-style chairs set out. He sketched several of them and production began after he added some of his own adjustments and changes, which was typical for Carl Malmsten s style. This year we are introducing Lilla Åland in solid oak. Accessories for the chair include sheepskin cushions in different styles and colours as well as a black leather cushion.

Miss Holly chair and table DESIGN: JONAS LINDVALL The Miss Holly chair emerged out of a respect for the past and a feel for what is lacking today.

Miss Holly is equally attractive alone or in a group. Its seating height is suitable for most dining tables.

Jonas was inspired by Windsor-style chairs from all over the world and has created here his very own version with a two-dimensional feel. Gracious and generous at the same time. A chair that is equally attractive as it is functional and whose many details testify to the professional craftsmanship and the love of wood as a material. Miss Holly is equally attractive alone or in a group. Its seating height is suitable for most dining tables. The Miss Holly table is based on a simple, clear construction in solid wood. Miss Holly has a robust top and carefully machined edges and legs that give the table a soft, inviting impression. Simplicity meets a strong material feeling. It is so beautiful. A table for the family, relatives and the office. The table is made from solid ash, oak or birch.

The upholstered seat has moulded padding for comfortable sitting.

5 Harrow chair DESIGN: JONAS LINDVALL When Jonas created Harrow, it was as homage to the tradition of craftsmanship and thus to Stolab. Harrow has a broad backrest made of conical sections that taper towards the back legs giving Harrow a wellcrafted and neat appearance. The upholstered seat has moulded padding for comfortable sitting. A unique detail in Harrow is the vertical direction of the chair s wood fibres that create a feeling of visual continuity throughout the chair.
