It s about creating a home that makes room for you that s personal, organised and comfortable. The style is minimalist Scandinavian, the mood is poetic and the colours range from soft pastels to graphic monochromes. Storage and organising is a big theme this launch. There s a new heavy-duty storage series that can hold the heaviest of loads, while another storage system gains a fashionable update. For the kitchen, there s a series of traditional-styled storage, along with a matching sink and tap that s water-saving. Of course, we focus on sustainability with our new products, with for example new flavourful teas that are UTZ-certified, textiles made of 100% cotton from more sustainable sources and a curtain and door mat that are made of recycled PET. A calm atmosphere The month brings a bunch of new textiles like curtains, cushions and a throw perfect for cocooning moments. New designed lamps set the mood from pendant lamps to table lamps. And smaller pieces like candle holders and a watering can add a glimpse of brass and a final personal touch. It s made in a unique pattern in pink and off-white by the designer Siri Skillgate who found her inspiration in nature: When I got the challenge to design a three-dimensional pattern for KAPASTER throw, I looked to nature for inspiration can you see the structure of tree bark in this pattern? It was tricky to find the right scale of the pattern to make it feel three-dimensional, without being too complex to weave. The Swedish designer Inga Leo was inspired by nature with its calmness and harmony when she designed ELDTÖREL: I m a designer and an artist, and I like to create freely in different media. When asked if I could use some of my paintings for textile patterns, I felt it was an exciting challenge. My inspiration often comes from the nature here in Småland, in southern Sweden. The British designer Aaron Probyn has used a double-layered glass shade, a marble foot and brass details, as he explains further: I always want to design products that feel timeless and genuine, both in shape and material. When developing BROR series, the ambition was to develop the strongest shelving units so far at IKEA. All with a clean, industrial design that means they re a stylish fit anywhere. Made in black powder-coated galvanized steel, BROR series consists of shelves, a cabinet and a trolley with a wood top. It can be built to suit individual needs, withstanding damp, dust and heavy loading. The widest and deepest shelves actually hold 130 kg and the smallest shelves can hold 70 kg. This means that you can store both tyres and heavy flower pots without problems. An essential part of developing BROR was testing the shelves, as Product Developer Engineer Philip Nedergaard explains: We built some of what we call worst-case scenarios by loading the shelves high with concrete bags to really test that the shelves could safely hold almost anything you would want to keep.
