2 PA Nutri Policy Area Nutri Aims to reduce nutrient inputs to the sea to acceptable levels Coordinated jointly by Ministry of the Environment (Finland) and Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection/National Water Management Authority (Poland) Supports the implementation of HELCOM BSAP Enhances cooperation within the region, across country and sector borders, also with RUS & BY Organises stakeholder events, disseminates knowledge and good practices Promotes actions and flagship projects Links with EU funds, especially Interreg BSRP Support letters and guidance to project applications Close cooperation with PA Agri, PA Hazards and HELCOM

3 Saving the Sea EUSBSR Action Plan revision and PA Nutri EUSBSR Action Plan adopted in 2009, now under second revision, publication in June 2015 Coordinated PA Nutri proposal for revision Drafted by PACs of PA Nutri Circulated for comments to the PA Nutri Steering Committee and National Coordinators No major changes Cooperation with HELCOM was emphasized WGs PRESSURE, STATE & CONSERVATION and AGRI Relevant back-to-back meetings Synergy with PA Nutri and HELCOM Promoting implementation of MSFD

8 PA Nutri PA Nutri Steering Committee Involves HELCOM secretariat, DG REGIO and national focal points from Baltic Sea Region EU countries Role of the PA Nutri SC is to support the implementation of PA advice and assistance the PACs ensure that actions are anchored all over the macro-region Serve as a forum for dialogue and discussion SC meetings are organized 2-3 times per year Communication through Next SC meeting 16 June in Jurmala Revision of the EUSBSR action plan, work plan for 2015, Flagships

9 PA Nutri PA Nutri Steering Committee Information should be coordinated between PA Nutri SC members, relevant HELCOM representatives and stakeholders in all MS Some of the members are the same as country representatives of HELCOM WGs In others, is there discussion between HELCOM and EUSBSR representatives?

10 PA Nutri PA Nutri Stakeholders Informed about events, financing calls, project outputs PA Nutri stakeholder meeting / workshop planned for second half of 2015 Possible topics include: small wastewater treatments, ww treatment & sludge, improved data on nutrient loads PRESSURE is requested to check and consider the need for updating the list of PA Nutri SC and stakeholders
