5 The new INTERREG North Sea Programme is worked out by representatives of the MS and the JTS in Viborg since Dec is based on EC Regulations (1083/2006, 1080/2006), Norvision and spatial agenda studies for Norvision update public consultation in summer 2006 disscussed with DG Regio submission to the KOM January call for projects expected in autumn 2007

6 The new INTERREG North Sea Programme The transnational strategy: Aims at achieving economic progress through shared development objectives and shared resources, building on individual regional strengths and territorial potentials.

7 Priorities of the Programme: Innovation (SME, cluster and research networks, institutional capacity for innovation, ICT) Sustainable Management of the Environment (ICZM, measures to address acute and chronic marine pollution, climate change, energy production practices) Accessibility (accessibility strategies, multimodal transport corridors, logistics) Sustainable and competitive communities (rural areas, expanding and declining areas, urban-rural relationships, energy efficiency, demographic change)

8 The new INTERREG North Sea Programme Demands on projects: Projects should work on issues of transnational importance, should be strategic should involve actors of different sectors, should be aware of what will happen to the project outcomes after the project, should provide a transnational added value.

9 The new INTERREG North Sea Programme What will be eligible? Small investment, which ideally prepare bigger investments fostered by other programmes; no big infrastructure! Involvement of private partners, is desired, but only public and public similar bodies are accepted as project partners, project output has to be a 100 % public.

10 European Transnational Co-operation in the North Sea Region: 2007 to 2013 What will be eligible? Implementation of EU-Directives, only if the project is dealing with transnational aspects. Studies, only if they prepare investments or activities directly (feasibility studies). Big Investments will not be eligible. Spatial planning will not be eligible.

11 The new INTERREG North Sea Programme 50 % of the costs of the approved project will be co-financed by the programme, 20 % of the budget of a project can be spend on European partners from the three transnational programme areas NWE, NP, BSR, In rare and exceptional cases 10 % of the budget of a project can be spend on partners which are not belonging to the EU-25.
