11 Unterthema... Conclusions (blau) Bitte überschreiben. 11 Metropolitan regions are cohesive systems in themselves. Cohesion and competitiveness are not a contradiction: Renaissance of urban-rural relations is possible and would serve Europe Urban-rural cooperation at eye level and on the basis of mutual benefit is possible. National Governments as well as EU-Commission should give support to existing and to emerging functional regions within new regional policy after ESPON/Eurostat should help to make metropolitan regions visible. EUROCITIES and METREX should cooperate to spread best practice and promote this new approach to cohesion.
