It looks like spring is here to stay. I know everyone is getting started this year a lot earlier than the last two allowed us. I enjoy living in Maryland because we get to have all four seasons. Just when we ve had enough of the snow and cold, we get to enjoy the beautiful spring here in DC where people from all over the world come to enjoy it and see the Cherry Blossoms. Our last meeting was held at the University of Maryland. Our host was Ken Ingram and our sponsor was Bartlett Tree Experts. Thanks to Kip for providing another excellent meal and for bringing the beverages. The weather was perfect and we were treated to an excellent talk by Paula Shrewsbury on Management Alternatives Towards Suppressing Pest Insects and Protecting Beneficial s. This talk qualified for both ISA and MDLTE recertification credits. On April 20 th I was able to spend the day in Baltimore attending the National Board Members meeting. It was great to meet other PGMS members from all over the country and hear about each of the different branches. It sounds like they are putting on a great program in June down in Texas for those who can attend. The next PGMS DC Branch Meeting will be on Thursday, April 7, 2016 starting at 6:00 PM at Thrive in Sterling, Virginia. Thrive is both our host and our sponsor. The meeting will include a presentation by Lynn Batdorf, former curator of the National Arboretum's Boxwood Collection. Lynn's presentation is "Knowing and Growing Boxwood" and has been approved for 1 CEU by the ISA. I look forward to seeing everyone on April 7 th for what I know will be another excellent meeting. Thank you to Chris Smith and everyone else at Thrive for hosting and sponsoring this meeting.
