To monitor a series of monitoring boreholes were drilled around the site. Data loggers were purchased and handled to monitor the water table. These loggers were collected regularly in order to down load and interpret the data. A finite analyses program was used to simulate the flow of under water in order to permit certain needed predictions. The purpose of the channel is to control access to a hazardous area comprising subsidence, sinkholes with burning coal in an old abandoned coal mine. De Beers Consolidated Mines Venetia Diamond Mine Messina, SA Tailings dump stability assessment and audit. Conveyors on top of the dump settle as a result of consolidation of the tailings. This settlement is irregular and tends to malalignment. Settlement has been modelled using a program called Crisp. Crisp is a geotechnical finite element program that models stress and strain in two-dimensional space.
