EXISTING TREES SHOWCASE FOR MANITOBA HYDRO AT GRADE CLARESTORY GLAZING TO ATRIUM NORTH ATRIA IN TOWER PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE / LINK Tower is placed on orthogonal City grid. The tower floor plan envisions a number of three storey atriums on both sides of the tower. They provide opportunity for passive solar gains and they are the linkages to create a vertical campus. The options within this group explore the scale and position of the tower in relation to the podium and the streets. 24 PARKETTE Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects - Design Architect 4A PORTAGE PLACE SCHEME 4a : TOWER AND PODIUM 0 storey tower on City grid 6 storey podium with large atrium courtyard EXISTING TREES The 6 storey podium relates to the larger scale of the surrounding city context examples include the Hudson's Bay store and the neighbouring Boyd building. 11 NORTH ATRIA PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE / LINK The tower is limited in floor plate size, similar in size to other Winnipeg office buildings, to create intimate neighbourhoods and excellent access to daylight. Small distributed atria will provide the linkages for the vertical campus and excellent opportunities for solar harvesting and energy use optimization. BOYD BUILDING 1 Option 4b explores a more street related storey podium which increases the height of the tower. Scheme 4a is the preferred option in this group.
