Soil amendment requirements: Organic amendments shall be Biocomp Class (available from A- Organics) or comparable approved product. Applied at cubic yards per 000 s.f. Rates: Apply per approved manufacturer's recommendations. a. Moderate to : slope- lbs/ acre b. : slope- 00 lbs/ acre c. >: slope- 0 lbs/ acre Greater than : slope shall require erosion control blanket as listed below.. Site preparation: The following steps shall be completed for site preparation: a. Salvage topsoil: Remove and stockpile the top -" of topsoil prior to beginning overlot grading. Topsoil shall be stockpiled to the greatest extent possible on site (within the "limits of construction" for use on areas to be seeded. Any and all stockpiles shall be placed in an approved location and protected from erosive elements using measures specified in the erosion control plan. The saved topsoil should then be spread evenly over the area to be seeded. Following grading, the seedbed should be ripped and/or disced to a min. depth of eight (8) inches. Fine grade to +/-.' of proposed grades- see Grading Plan. Remove all rubble, stones and extraneous material over (two) inches in diameter from the site. Undertake appropriate weed control measures if necessary following all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. b. Soil Amendments: Add amendments as described in the soils analysis to each area that will be seeded. Disc or rip soil amendments to a depth of 8" before applying seed.. Seeding methods and slope limitations: The following seeding methods are recommended for the following slope conditions and may vary depending on soils conditions and exposure: a. Drilling: Seed shall be drilled on : or flatter slopes. A rangeland drill shill be utilized to uniformly drill seed. The drill shall be equipped with double disc furrow openers, depth bands, press wheels or drag chains. Row spacing shall not exceed ". The specified grass seed mixture shall be applied uniformly in one direction on the contour of the soil surface where possible. b. Broadcasting: Inaccessible and steep slope areas may be hand-seeded as follows: broadcast seed shall be hand-raked or dragged to a depth as required by the seed type. The seed rate should be increased by two () times the drill seed rates to compensate for the difficulties in controlling seed. Seed may be broadcast when any of the following conditions exist: i. slopes greater than :. ii. broken or rocky ground. iii. small and inaccessible areas. c. Hydroseeding: Hydro or hydraulic seeding may be used in areas with greater than : slopes that are not suited for drilling or are too large to be practical for broadcasting. Hydro or hydraulic seeding is not an acceptable alternative to drill seeding. It is recommended that seeding and mulching do not occur in one application. Seed rates should be two () times drill seed rates.. Seeding and timing: It is recommended that non-irrigated native seed take place between October and March, weather permitting At the risk of the Contractor, seeding may occur any time when weather conditions permit, except when the ground is frozen. All brands furnished shall be free from noxious weeds such as Russian and Canadian Thistle, coarse fescue, European bindweed, Johnson grass, knapweed, morning glory and leafy spurge. The subcontractor shall furnish to the contractor a signed statement certifying the seed furnished is from a lot that has been tested by a recognized laboratory. Seed that has become wet, moldy or otherwise damaged in transit or in storage will not be acceptable. If the seed available on the market does not meet the maximum purity and germination percentages specified, the subcontractor must compensate for a lesser percentage of purity or germination by furnishing sufficient additional seed to equal the specified product. The tags from the seed mixes must be supplied to the contractor and copies must be forwarded to the owner's authorized representative.. Mulching and erosion control: Anti-Erosion Hydromulch: Seeding mulch manufactured from recycled paper or secondary ground wood fibers. Acceptable Products: Conwed 000 (or approved equal): Tackifier: Psyllium-based (Plantago Insularis, Desert Indianwheat) consisting of free flowing, non-corrosive powder. Inorganic tackifier and asphaltic materials will not be permitted. Acceptable Products: Contak (or approved equal) by Profile Products LCC, Seeding Equipment: Hydraulic seeding equipment shall include a pump capable of being operated at 00 gallons per minute and 00 pounds per square inch. The equipment shall have a nozzle capable of hydraulic seeding requirements. Storage tanks shall have a means of estimating the volume used or remaining in the tank. Fertilizer: 00 pounds per acre for -- dry, commercial grade fertilizer. Hydroseeding: Do not use wet seed or seed that is moldy or otherwise damaged in transit or storage. Deliver seed to the job site in the original unopened containers and submit the certified labels to the Owner. approved equal) by Tensar Corp. 00 Northwind Parkway, Suite 00, Alpharetta, GA 000. Phone- (0) -00. Mix specified seed, fertilizer, pulverized mulch and tackifier in water using equipment specifically designed for hydro-seed application. Continue mixing until uniformly blended into a homogenous slurry suitable for hydraulic application. Apply slurry to all areas to be seeded. Rate of application shall be be as required to obtain specified seed sowing rate. Do not sow seed during high winds or when the ground is frozen or otherwise unable to be worked. The Contractor shall erect appropriate warning signs and barriers where necessary to help protect seeded areas from damage by vehicle or pedestrian traffic. Post Installation Maintenance. Contractor shall provide maintenance of seed areas during construction and during the specified post-construction maintenance period of one full growing season. a. Seeding success depends upon the control of weed competition during the growing seasons. The site should be monitored for undesirable plant species. Avoid mowing of native grasses if wildflowers are included in the seed mixture. i. and pull noxious weeds removing as much as the root system as possible. ii. Use weed eaters to selectively cut off the seed heads of noxious weeds. iii. Use selective herbicide such as --D with a backpack sprayer or wick applicator. Be careful not to apply herbicide on more than one square foot in any given area. b. Use Bush Hog type mower and mow to a height of - inches prior to flowering of weed species, if needed. Do not mow the seeded species until after the seed heads have set. c. The site should be continually monitored for undesirable plants. If weed control needs to be performed on areas with wildflowers, utilize method i, ii or iii. Again avoid mowing of native grasses with wildflowers. If the contractor deems that an area should be mowed multiple times in a season, the contractor shall specify the mowing schedule in a submitted maintenance program and shall notify the owner's authorized representative when mowing is to take place. Further he must document the mowing in the log book. Jump Design Company PLANNING & LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE S. Clarkson Street Denver, Colorado 800 info@jumpdesignco.com DE OF ISSUE: 0.0.
