Visitors will have a unique and meaningful experience: while visiting the expo they will be invited to explore, touch and change. loriade Expo 2022 is an A1 international horticultural exhibition, accredited on 1 September 2015 by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH). loriade Expo 2022 was recognised on 15 November 2017 as an official A1 horticultural exhibition by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE). loriade will open its doors for the seventh international horticultural exhibition in 2022, with the theme Growing Green Cities. This expo will also be the start of a new city district close to Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Almost everything that will be built for the exhibition will become part of the Legacy of loriade. The structures will remain and become part of the community. As part of this innovative exhibition concept, loriade Expo 2022 will stimulate innovation and the development of solutions that can benefit us all. It will be a living laboratory and a platform for smart solutions. EXPLORE. TOUCH. CHANGE. Credentials Winy Maas - MVRDV The Earth has seven billion inhabitants, more than fifty percent of whom live in cities. By 2050 this percentage will have increased to nearly seventy percent. With continued and relentless urbanization, we have no option but to look for new ways to keep our cities safe, healthy and attractive and to find a better balance between grey and green. We invite the world to join us and to contribute to our theme: Growing Green Cities. In this context, we have developed four sub-themes: Green - parks and green structures which make cities more attractive. ood - food production, food safety and food security solutions. Health - the effect of green structures on a healthy living environment, as well as on the physical and mental vitality of city inhabitants. Energy - sustainable energy solutions, as well as the effects of green spaces on the vitality of a city. LEGACY loriade Expo 2022 provides a platform for participants to present their vision of the green city through innovative, state-of-the-art projects. This is not a temporary platform. When loriade Expo 2022 ends, the area will be further developed into a new city district based on green city principles. This means that the expo will have a lasting impact. The contours of the new district will be visible in 2022, represented by the first homes and services, infrastructure and green, public areas. Each day will bring something new to discover and experience. There will be workshops, pop-ups, art installations, as well as meet-and-greets, cultural events and entertainment - all contributing to make the loriade the ultimate green event.

And every country has cities that are frontrunners, with their own solutions and showcases. These solutions might be worthwhile showing and sharing with the world. loriade Expo 2022 offers a fantastic world stage! Amsterdam Schiphol airport 25 minutes by car 30 minutes by train There are several ways to participate in loriade Expo 2022: from a unique landscape design, an innovative indoor exhibition, to the newly developed expo possibility: A Green Embassy. They should all be in line with the theme and ambitions of the expo and they need approval beforehand. We encourage countries to participate together with a city or region and we stimulate cities to cooperate with the government in order to achieve maximum impact. The options are: Green Embassy irst-class opportunity to participate. With this option you design a green city, we build your design and together we develop the most sustainable city of the world. Designs include landscape design. Indoor Expo There will be indoor space available for tropical exhibits, which are not suitable for the Dutch outdoor climate or because of concept limitations. Temporary pavilion Temporary buildings have the same sustainability ambitions as Green Embassies. Therefore, every pavilion needs to have an envisaged destination for after the expo, so it will be sustainable. Design, materials and construction should be in line with the ambitions of loriade Expo 2022 and include the landscape design. 5 THE CHALLENGE: DESIGN A GREEN EMBASSY GREEN EMBASSY OPTIONS A Green Embassy will be a permanent structure, designed by high-profile architects on behalf of the participant and developed and built by the Dutch Real Estate consortium. During the expo it can be rented by the participant. Afterwards, the Green Embassy will be transformed into houses or used for other purposes. Sustainability is the goal here. Nothing will be wasted. 1. City-design This is the ultimate Green Embassy, with an architect chosen and appointed by the participant. The Dutch Real Estate consortium will take over after the final design. After completion, the participant will rent the pavilion during the expo. With this option there is maximum influence on the design. By choosing a Green Embassy, participants can contribute to a new urban district with a permanent design, created by an architect of their own choice. This design can showcase the participant s own positioning, vision and green solution(s) for cities of the future. These Green Embassy designs will receive a huge amount of international attention while forming part of an exhibition in the 2.
