These are forced air convection generators, fitted with atmospheric burner and fan, designed for room heating. They come in four types, depending on the installation system, as follows: C 12 type appliances, sealed as to the room where they ve been installed in, with concentric or separate combustion air suction and combustion products exhaust pipes, wall outlet (see Pict. 5-6); C 32 type generators, sealed as to the room where they ve been installed in, with concentric room combustion air suction and combustion products exhaust pipes, roof outlet (see Pict. 5) only for the GAS 20 model; C 52 type generators, sealed as to the room where they ve been installed in, with separate combustion air suction and combustion products exhaust pipes, roof or flue outlet (see Pict. 5-6); B 22» type generators, combustion air suction from the room, combustion products exhaust through roof or flue outlet (see Pict. 5-6). VERY IMPORTANT Please carefully read all the instructions given in this booklet, as they ll be all very useful to grant safe installation and proper use & maintenance operations. Installation is to be carried out always strictly complying with the current standards of the country where the appliance is going to be used and following, of course, the instructions given by the maker. Only skilled operators and Authorized Assistance Centers will be entitled to carry out installation. Please note that, should wrong installation cause harm to people or damage things, in no way the manufacturer can be held responsible for it. Before opening, check well packing cardboard box and its contents. If any doubt, don t use the unit but contact the supplier first. Always keep packing parts away from children reach, as they may be harmful. Keep suction grids clear. In case of breakdown or failure: turn unit off, do not try to repair it on your own, call operator. If you are going to leave the generator off for a long time, first make sure that in no way this could cause harm to anyone in any way. This unit is designed to be used for heating purposes only. Any different use is not allowed, as it may be dangerous. Always keep this handbook with the unit. Should the unit work in a house where disabled people and/or children live, it must be placed safely away from their reach. Always make sure that the access door to the inside board stays locked. GAS ESCAPE In case of typical gas smell, do not turn on electric switches nor use telephone or any other appliance that could produce sparkles. Quickly open doors and windows to let fresh air in, lock the gas detecting hand-valve and call for qualified operator. OPERATING SPECIFICATIONS Our gas heating hot-air generator (floor) exploits the thermal energy resulting from combustion, in order to heat room air. This thermal exchange is obtained by a no-stop air jet lapping the heat-exchanger areas. The air jet comes out of a centrifugal fan, without need of intermediate fluid. When the thermal exchange is over, all the combustion products are forwarded outside by means of a centrifugal fan so that the appliance can be used even without any flue connection (never install in places directly subject to atmospheric conditions. As the combustion air is taken from outside, the combustion cycle of the generator becomes totally sealed - in fact this kind of generator was designed for large rooms, places where many people stay together like churches, gymnasiums, commercial centres, etc., as well as for domestic use (never install the generator in places directly subject to atmospheric conditions). GENERAL MANUFACTURING SPECIFICATIONS HEAT EXCHANGER Made of welded stainless steel sheet, sealed tested to meet the current European standards, it s easy to check during standard cleaning and/or maintenance operations. Its combustion chamber, exchanging elements and smokes collector are all made of high quality aluminate stainless steel sheet, low thermal load, of suitable shape and volume, allowing thermal performances over 90%. OUTER CASING No visible panel fixing parts : this gives the machine a new fashionable look, while enabling very easy checking too. The outer casing is made of epoxy enamelled stainless steel removable panels, including following parts : - Burner housing - totally sealed as to the room, check door. - Fan and air treating filters housings, access door. 7

- Exchanger compartment - provided with an inner noise/heat-proof layer, insulating from the heat spreading from the exchanger areas. VENTILATION UNIT Low noise, large air capacity, centrifugal fan. Operated by a single-phase electric engine. CONTROL AND PROTECTION ELECTRONIC BOARD Electronic board, with flame detecting ionization circuits and capacitive spark ignition. This unit controls all hot air generator operations (but ventilation) i.e.: - it checks that differential air pressure switch contact is in rest position, in order to allow the starting of the burner only if the smokes pulling fan is actually on; - it fixes the combustion chamber pre-washing time; - it controls the gas electro-valve unit; - it makes the burner start; - in case of troubles in the controlled operations, the appliance would get blocked, breaking off the gas feeding and all the other operations. It can be reset only by hand, by pressing the red light key placed on the outer control board. GAS ELECTRO-VALVE UNIT This safety and adjusting valve has got several functions. It includes: - safety electro-valve, - adjusting electro-valve, - pressure adjuster, - gas filter, - slow ignition adjuster. MULTIGAS ATMOSPHERIC BURNER SET - GAS 20 model - including: - Two-injector collector for gas distribution - anchorage plate with peep-hole to check electrodes and flame, insulated by hard ceramic fibre layer, - 2 stainless steel tubulars with Venturi pipe for air/gas mix, including injector; - detecting and starting electrodes, ceramic coated; - 2 groups of AISI 310 stainless steel bars, for reducing azote oxides (upon request only). MULTIGAS ATMOSPHERIC BURNER SET - model GAS 25 - GAS 29 GAS 40 including: - Three-injector collector for gas distribution, - anchorage plate with peep-hole to check electrodes and flame, insulated by hard ceramic fibre layer, - three stainless steel tubulars with Venturi pipe for air/gas mix, including injector, - detecting and starting electrodes, ceramic coated, - 3 groups of AISI 310 stainless steel bars, for reducing azote oxides (upon request only). CONTROL AND SAFETY THERMOSTATS The generator is supplied with three thermostats, all assembled and electrically connected: Fan thermostat, liquid expansion type. It starts up the fans when the air temperature inside is approx. 40 C, to avoid cool air getting into the room, and it turns them off as soon as the burner stops, when the temperature raises to 40 C. Limit thermostat, liquid expansion type. It stops the burner when the air temperature gets approximately over 80 C. Maximum thermostat, hand reset, liquid expansion type: it finally stops the burner in case of anomalous air overheating. If necessary, hand reset it by pressing the special button, however only after detecting and removing the reason of such anomalous behaviour. DIFFERENTIAL AIR PRESSURE SWITCH It stops the burner in case of choke in the combustion products exhaust pipe or in the combustion air suction pipe, and also in case the smokes pulling fan should not work. SMOKES PULLING FAN It consists of a simple suction centrifugal fan, started up by an electric engine with self-cooling rotor. OPTIC SIGNALLING UNIT Including two switches placed on the front side of the appliance: - Green Light Switch: when the generator is working. - Yellow Switch : it shows the Summer or Winter mode. - Red Light : in case of blockage in the electronic board. AIR COMMUTATION SWITCH (EXCEPT FOR MOD. GAS 40) Including a special device to vary the fan delivery, by selecting positions 1 to 3 on the control board: Position No. 1 = 0,5% maximum rated air delivery Position No. 2 = 0,75% maximum rated air delivery 8

Position No. 3 = Full rated air delivery SMOKES EXHAUST OPENING The combustion products are exhausted outside through a round opening, to be connected to a metal pipe in the permanent way. Said metal pipe must be sized as follows : It must have wider or same diameter than the opening, with no section reduction. With the C 12 and C 52 types it must be 4 Mts. long, no more, (keeping in mind that each elbow is equal to approx Mts. of straight pipe). With the B 22 and the B 11bs types the length mustn t exceed 6 Mts.. Smooth inside surface. If wrinkled flex pipe was to be used, first make sure that the increased loss of load would not involve unhealthy combustion conditions. It must be thoroughly sealed and have no adjusting devices (shutters). It must have a certified outside wind-proof terminal top. COMBUSTION AIR OPENING The combustion air gets in through a round opening. If the appliance was installed in a place with no air intakes from outside, even the combustion air intake should be connected to the outside, to grant a sealed performance. The same has to be done in case of an under depression room, or a dusty room, to avoid any anomalous working of the burner or the flooding of it. The installation system must be long no more than 6 Mts. ( keeping in mind that each elbow is long about 0,8-1 Mt. of straight pipe) and have an outside protecting terminal top with an obstruction section not wider than 40 cm 2. INFORMATION FOR THE QUALIFIED INSTALLER INSTALLATION MUST BE CARRIED OUT IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE CURRENT STANDARDS! When choosing the place where to install the gas series hot air generator (floor), please keep well in mind the following points : - Working temperature : 0-40 C - Installation on the floor, ensuring the most safe position for the appliance. - Never place the appliance into wall recesses. - Always keep air suction grids clear, leaving a 5 cm. minimum distance around the appliance (to allow proper air cooling throughout the combustion chamber). - Avoid hot air shooting direct onto people, inside the heated room. 9

- There must be no obstacles too close to the generator as this would affect the proper hot air diffusion, complying with the current laws and safety rules in gas operated thermal plants. - Keep recommended minimum distance between the appliance and the wall, as required by law. - Enable always easy maintenance and cleaning operations. - In case it was necessary to make a hole across inflammable walls, insulate at least 5 cm around smokes exhaust. N.B. : Before installing the appliance, check with the local GAS SUPPLYING COMPANY that the generator will be actually receiving the maximum necessary gas delivery and that the pressure of the net as well as the type of gas are exactly as required by our TECHNICAL DATA table. POWER CONNECTION This unit has been manufactured in compliance with the CEE 73/23 standard, and works with a current of 220/230 V/AC Hz. Connection must be made by means of a H05 VV-F 3 or 6 pole cable, section to be not less than 1,5 sq.mm. Connection to be made on the special 6-pole plug, placed on the control board, strictly attaining to the wiring diagram and the directions printed inside the plug. 6 POLE PLUG : = Compulsory ground connection (yellow-green wire) PH = Active phase connection N = Neutral phase connection 1 = Room thermostat connection 2 = Room thermostat connection 3 = Blockage light connection (active phase) WARNING : The neuter-phase connection must be necessarily made in the correct way. Any failure to observe the polarity will cause the blockage of the appliance with a phase-phase net, involving high values of passive capacity or serious insulating faults between line and earth wire. In order to grant the safe working, we recommend to employ an insulating transformer. To this end please contact the Assistance Center nearest to you. We recommend to make the connection preferably in the permanent way by means of a magneto/thermal switch of suitable power. The contacts should be 3 mm. open, at least. The omnipolar switch or the plug (connection by means of cable and plug) must be mounted in places easy to reach. Models GAS CONTROL BOARD 10. GAS LINE 11. ELECTRIC CONNECTOR 15. However we recommend to do as follows: CATEGORY (APPLIANCES BEING ADJUSTED FROM THE 1. METHANE APPLIANCES (G20) (G25) By a manometer on the PV point (Pict. 8) compare the pressure value to the value stated on the label. Should there be found a difference exceeding ±2 mbar, remove protection from "RP" adjusting screw (Pict. 8) and turn clockwise to increase, anti-clockwise to decrease, bringing the "PV" pressure value (Pict. 8) back to the values stated on the label. If necessary, turn RA (Pict. 8) low ignition screw in order to have safe silent ignition. 11 Pict. 7

2. BUTANE-PROPANE APPLIANCES (G30-31) By a manometer on the PV point (Pict. 8) compare the pressure value to the value stated on the label. Should there be found a difference exceeding ±2 mbar, check the adjuster outside the plant or have the gas mains Supplying Agency do it for you. If necessary, turn RA (Pict. 8) low ignition screw in order to have safe silent ignition. APPLIANCES BELONGING TO THE 2 nd CATEGORY (APPLIANCES FOR GAS TRANSFORMATION BY THE USER) - Transformation from originally adjusted gas to A different type - If a change in the type of gas is required, it is necessary to do as follows: a) Open the access door to the burner compartment by the supplied key b) Unscrew the injector from the collector by a spanner of size 12 and replace it by the one being supplied with the appliance, marked according to the values stated in our technical data table. Assemble it in the correct way and check the sealing of it. c) Check and adjust the feeding pressure and write down on the label all data referring to the change of gas that you ve just made. Replace the label by a new one (that you ll find in the papers envelope) where you ll have to specify the new working gas. d) Pressure changes, depending on the type of gas: Type G20/G25 (methane) = lift the safety top from the "RP" adjusting screw (Pict. 8), turn the screw until finding the mbar figure on the "PV" pressure point (Pict. 8), as stated on the Technical Data table (page 1). Type G30/31 (butane / propane) = lift the safety top from the "RP" (Pict. 8) adjusting screw, tighten well the screw and see if the figure on the "PV" pressure point (Pict. 7) corresponds to the value stated on the Technical Data table. Should there be found a difference exceeding ± 2 mbar, you ll have to check the adjusting device outside the plant or have the gas Supplying Agency do it for you. e) If necessary, during all above changes you may turn RA (Pict. 8) low ignition screw in order to have safe silent ignition. f) When the transformation is done, write down new settings on plate. FIRST IGNITION Before first ignition, do as follows: Put the magneto-thermal main switch on Open the gas tap and let air leak out from the main pipeline, by unscrewing the "PM" screw (Pict. 8) placed on the valve. When done, turn the screw on again and check the sealing. Warning : This operation may cause gas escape! Place a manometer on the pressure point PV (Pict. 8) of the electro-valve. Give voltage to the appliance. Set the room thermostat temperature a few degrees higher than the real one. Bring green switch to 1st position (Pict ) Remove all blockages, detected by red light button by simply clicking on the red button 6 (Pict ). The smokes pulling fan 4 (Pict ) will start working, making the differential air pressure switch (Pict ) work too. After the pre-washing of the combustion chamber (Pict ), the electronic board 7 (Pict ) will feed up the ignition device 9 (Pict ) and the gas electro-valve 8 (Pict ). It may occur that, because of air still left inside the piping, the electronic board 7 (Pict ) blocks up. In this case it will be necessary to start up again the appliance by clicking on the release button 6 (Pict ). When the burner is working, test the gas pressure value on the manometer. If necessary, bring this figure back to the label value, by turning either pressure adjusting screw RP (Pict. 8) of the electro-valve with G 20 / G 25 gas or the pressure reducer on top of the appliance with G 30 / 31 gas. Make sure that gas consumption figure as you can read now from the gas meter is the same as stated in the Technical Data table here above. Cut off the burner by clicking on the key on the control board (Pict ). Remove the manometer and carefully tighten well the pressure socket screw PV (Pict. 8) in order to avoid gas escape. The burner start must be silent and plain, if not just turn the screw RA (Pict. 8) in order to bring the burner back to the correct working performance (EXCEPT FOR MODEL GAS 40). AND NOW THE UNIT IS READY TO WORK. 12

PLEASE NOTE : All repairs must be carried out by qualified skilled technical personnel only. Only original spare parts can be used. It is not allowed opening the unit or tampering with unit components other than maintenance authorized parts. STANDARD MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS In order to grant the appliance always the best performance and upkeep, timely carry out maintenance operations at least once a year, possibly at the end of the cold season. Remember that maintenance operations are to be carried out by qualified personnel only. All maintenance operations can be carried out only when the appliance is cold, provided the electric power is disconnected and the gas tap shut. CLEANING THE EXCHANGER WHEN THE WINTER SEASON IS OVER For this operation just take the following steps: - Remove burner from its housing. - Remove back door from the appliance, remove little inspection door from smokes collector. - Clean exchanging elements by a stainless steel tube brush. - By a vacuum cleaner remove the soot that you ll find inside the combustion chamber, coming from exchanging elements. - Clean also exchanger outer areas. - If necessary, replace little inspection door gasket, in order to ensure always perfect sealing. CLEANING THE BURNER Carefully remove any incrustations, paying attention not to damage the tubulars. By compressed air clear the dirt out of the grids. Replace those tubulars that may have lost their shape or that went worn. SMOKES PULLING FAN Check that no dirt was left on the blades. Keep them clean. SMOKES EXHAUST and COMBUSTION AIR SUCTION PIPES Remove any chokes or dirt that you may find inside. SAFETY, CHECK and CONTROL ELECTRONIC BOARDS Test them to check their performance. HEATING FAN Remove it and clean it well by a paintbrush or compressed air. AIR FILTERS By a vacuum cleaner or compressed air, remove dirt from inside the filters at least once a week. Never use it in open-air, subject to atmospheric agents. WORKING Put main switch on. Open gas tap. Set room thermostat at the desired temperature figure. Set appliance switch (Pict ) on: a green light will light up (working signal) and the appliance will become automatic in all its functions. The smokes pulling fan 4 (Pict ) will now start working and, after a pre-washing time of the combustion chamber (Pict ), the burner (Pict ) will start running too. A few minutes after the burner s start, the fan 13 (Pict ) will start working too, blowing hot air into the room. As soon as the room temperature will raise to the figure scheduled on room thermostat, the burner will stop and - about 4 minutes later the fan will stop too. The whole cycle will be automatically repeated from the beginning every time that the actual room temperature value will be lower than scheduled by room thermostat. 15

STOP OR TEMPORARY STOP To stop the appliance, just turn off appliance switch or room thermostat. Warning: DON T CUT OFF VOLTAGE WHEN THE APPLIANCE IS HOT AND THE FAN IS WORKING. This because the thermal energy stored inside the exchanger would activate the safety LIMIT thermostat, so it would become necessary to reset it by hand. Also, this wrong operation would involve overheating to the heat exchanger and cause damage to the thermostats bulbs. SUMMER VENTILATION If you wish to use the fan itself for ventilation in the hot season, just do as follows: - Shut gas tap. - Turn green switch to the I position (Pict ), and the yellow air switch (Pict ) to the SUMMER position, so to make the fan 13 (Pict ) working alone. - Choose one among the three speeds available on the commutation switch 15 (Pict ), except for model GAS 40. END OF SEASON REST - Take voltage off completely. - Shut gas tap. ASSISTANCE You can get technical assistance either asking directly your retailer who will give you the address of the assistance service nearest to you. 16
