12 CONTROL PANEL The control panels fitted to the MIV-3 and MIV-4 V200 modules of ALEZIO EVOLUTION heat pumps incorporate an electronic control system used to adapt heating output to the actual needs of the installation according to the outside temperature (sensor provided). To do this, the control system operates the modulation of the compressor (via the BUS cable connecting the outside unit to the MIV-3 or MIV-4 V200) and, where applicable, manages back-up via the boiler (MIV-3/H, HI or MIV- 4/H V200) or the electrical resistor (MIV-3/E, EI or MIV-4/E V200). With MIV-3, it can be used to manage a single direct circuit, which may be a radiator circuit or a low temperature underfloor heating circuit (or even fan coil units with the MIV-3/EI, HI). With MIV-4, it can also be used to manage a additional circuit with a 3-way mixing valve with package EH27. Moreover, this control system manages the reversibility of the heating in winter/cooling in summer and incorporates a power cut-off function and an emergency help mode. To operate in cooling/air conditioning mode, a hard-wired or radio-controlled room temperature thermostat must be connected. The regulation can also be used to manage domestic hot water (package EH14 optional for MIV-3/E or EI, delivered as standard with MIV4-/E V200 or H V200). (NB: with the MIV-3/H or HI, DHW production is handled independent of the HP). 14 ADDITIONAL CONTROL SYSTEM FUNCTIONS THE ENERGY METERING FUNCTION The control system fitted to the indoor modules comes with an energy metering function. Using parameters like the performances of the system(s) connected, (weather conditions function), the nature of the energies used, the control system meters each of the energies used for each operating mode (DHW, heating, cooling). This metering can be displayed in plain text on the control system display. HYBRID SOLUTION The hybrid function integrated in the control system for the indoor module is used to manage solutions that combine an HP (using a proportion of renewable energy) and a condensing boiler (oil or gas), operating on their own or simultaneously depending on weather conditions and heating needs. The objective of the hybrid function is to meet the needs of the installation while always consuming the most efficient form of energy, whether that is natural gas, oil or electricity, i.e. - Either the cheapest energy (oil, gas or electricity) for optimized heating costs; - Or the one that uses the least primary energy as part of an eco-friendly approach. The values that correspond to energy prices or primary energy coefficient can be modified within the control system parameters. The mode of management may also generate other advantages: - Reduction of the HP s thermal output to lower electricity charges (no extra cost for an electrical back-up system) - 100% cover of heating and DHW needs by the HP + boiler system - In existing housing, energy savings when compared with running a boiler only, reduction of CO 2 emissions from the current boiler, connection possible without having to replace any existing heat emitters or resort. to very high temperature. Primary energy To heat and light our homes and produce domestic hot water, we consume energy (oil, wood, gas, electricity). This final energy used by the consumer is not always available naturally(e.g. electricity) and sometimes requires conversion. The heat losses are calculated according to the NF EN Standard and the national addendum NF P 2-612/CN. The losses are calculated for the rooms heated by the HP and are broken down into: - Surface losses through walls and partitions; - Losses per unit length in the connecting spaces between the various surfaces; - Losses through air renewal and infiltration. Air/Water heat pumps alone cannot compensate for the heat loss from a home as their output diminishes when the outside temperature falls and they shut down altogether at the so-called shutdown temperature. This temperature is -20 C for our AWHP range (-1 C for AWHP 6 MR-3 (MR-4) ). Electric or hydraulic boiler back-up is then necessary. The balance point temperature corresponds to the outside temperature at which the output of the heat pump is equal to the heat losses. It is used to compare appliances with each other. - The acoustic pressure Lp expressed in db(a): this is the extent of the noise perceived by the human ear. It depends on parameters like the distance from the source and the size and nature of the walls of the premises. The regulations are based on this value. Recommendations on the acoustic integration of the outside module - Do not place it close to sleeping areas; - Avoid placing it near a terrace, do not install the module opposite a wall. The screen must be made of a suitable material like acoustic bricks, concrete blocks coated with absorbent materials. It is also possible to use natural screens like mounds of earth. 21

Appliances must be installed, commissioned, maintained and repaired by qualified, authorised personnel, pursuant to the requirements of prevailing directives, laws and regulations and in accordance with the codes of practice of the profession. The filter + gate valve Important comments regarding The various emitters The water outlet temperature on heat pumps is limited: 60 C max. for AWHP. It is therefore imperative that they operate on low temperature emitters, i.e. underfloor heating/cooling or radiators sized at low temperature. For the cooling mode, only underfloor heating with compatible flooring and floor covering is suitable. It is also necessary that the underfloor cooling flow temperatures be respected, depending on the geographical location, to prevent the phenomenon of condensation (between 18 C and 22 C). The cooling or air-conditioning mode So-called reversible heat pumps are used to produce a cooling effect in summer. A 4-way valve, called a cycle inverter valve, switches the cycle from heating mode to cooling mode. The compressor intake is thus linked to the indoor exchanger, which therefore becomes the evaporator. The compressor backflow is thus linked to the outdoor exchanger, which therefore becomes the condenser. Available pressure in mwg ,0 0, 1,0 1, 2,0 2, Flowrate in m 3/h unit (package EH61) can be delivered as optional (integrated in MIV-4/V 200). Refrigerant fluids R410A refrigerant fluid has properties suitable for heat pumps. It belongs to the family of HFCs (HydroFluorCarbons), composed of chemical molecules containing carbon, fluorine and hydrogen. It does not contain chlorine and therefore does not damage the ozone layer. In the case of an installation with underfloor heating/cooling (outlet and return water temperature : +18 C/23 C), the refrigeration output is limited, but sufficient to keep the home pleasantly comfortable. On average, it allows the ambient temperature to be reduced by 3 to 4 C. With an installation with fan-coils (outlet and return water temperature : +7 C/12 C) it is compulsory to use the models AWHP-3/EI or HI. PAC_F0714 SIZING THE BUFFER TANK The volume of water contained in the heating installation must be capable of storing up all of the energy provided by the HP during its minimum running time. Therefore, the storage volume corresponds to the minimum water volume required from which we subtract the content of the network. - The installation of a storage tank is recommended for installations in which the water volume is less than l/ in heating output on the HP (remember the volume in the indoor module). - Increasing the volume in an installation helps to limit short cycle running of the compressor (the greater the water volume the fewer the number of compressor start-ups and the longer its lifespan). - As an initial approach, below is an estimate of the storage volume for a minimum running time of 6 minutes, a regulation differential of K and factoring in a negligible network volume (remember the volume in the indoor module). - The buffer tank must be installed on the return of the heating circuit. 24 EXAMPLES OF INSTALLATIONS The examples presented below cannot cover the full range of installation scenarios that may be encountered. Their purpose is to draw the attention to the basic rules to be followed.
