Some taps are fitted with a flow straightener; however, some of our taps are fitted with an aerator which are highlighted by this icon. Important note: The BLANCO tap range includes a wide range of possibilities which are suitable for most plumbing systems. However not all taps are suitable for every possible system. For example, a high pressure tap might not satisfactorily function on a low pressure gravity system. If a tap proves to be inappropriate for the supply provided, rectifying the situation may indeed prove a costly experience so it is vital if you are in doubt as to the compatibility of a chosen tap for your particular type of system, you seek professional advice from your supplier, either the dealer or the plumber, to ensure that there are no disappointments and problems. 7

The main objections to drinking regular tap water is the taste, smell and sometimes the appearance. The comments are more likely to be associated with the continuous purification treatment carried out by water authorities using chlorine to kill harmful bacteria. The level of treatment at the water provider can create a noticeable effect on both the taste and smell of the water. The water may not always taste good, and can sometimes seem cloudy, as a result, many are unwilling to drink tap water hence the growing demand for an alternative. So what are the choices? The most popular is bottled water. It is estimated that over 1.5 billion litres are consumed in the UK from plastic bottles made of P.E.T. (polyethylene terephthalate). This represents a huge cost to the environment in both of energy and transportation. At an average cost of 95 pence per litre bottle of water is approximately the equivalent in cost to 1 litre of petrol. Research also indicates that only 10% of plastic bottles are recycled, most finish their life in landfill where it is calculated that it will take them around 450 years to break down. The next most popular method is the filter jug, filter jugs require constant replenishment and filter slowly so are not always convenient to meet the demands of a family. Enjoy fresh filtered tap water? The BLANCO FILTRA FRESH and BLANCO FILTRA PRO taps are specially designed to supply regular hot and cold water and filtered water from the same tap. Both taps provide fresh filtered top quality drinking water on demand from a separate small control on the base of the tap. The filtered water is completely isolated from the regular hot and cold water supply. The under sink filter cartridge reduces potentially undesirable elements such as chlorine, pesticides, solvents, fluoride and nitrates as well as removing sediment and dirt. Whilst the filter is effective against a wide range of problems, minerals essential to good health are retained. The filter has been independently tested and where unwelcome agents are present in the water supply a significant reduction has been recorded (see right). The filtered water conforms in all respects to the statutory requirements specified by E.C.Directives on drinking water quality and the world Health Organisation Standard. If left unchecked these conditions can quickly build up and leave unwanted grease and dirt deposits on the walls and furniture which may eventually spoil the appearance of your kitchen. Todays kitchen designers and developers understand and recommend that an extractor hood is an essential part of any kitchen design. Blancoair manufactures one of the most comprehensive ranges of extractor hood solutions. Examples of products are frequently tested using published criteria in order to measure conformity and performance against recommended test standards. Extraction or Recirculation Blancoair extractor hoods are designed for extracting air through a wall to the outside or for recirculating filtered air back into the kitchen. Extraction to the outside is recommended wherever possible providing the cooking area is situated on or close to the outside wall. As a general guide, large range cookers and hobs require a hood, which if possible is wider than the actual cooking area. This will help to ensure that the air around the cooking zone receives the maximum draw from the hood motor. Ducting Kits For efficient air extraction we recommend that a minimum of 125mm diameter ducting be used to ensure maximum air movement. Long runs of ducting should be avoided where possible. A maximum of 3 metres in length with one or two 90 bends is recommended. Efficient Filtering Blancoair extractor hoods feature replaceable semi-professional washable aluminium grease filters. The grease filters are easily removed for cleaning. For added convenience we use the acrylic disposable grease filter in some of our built-in hood range. For re-circulating we recommend that optional carbon filters are fitted. These help to remove cooking smells from the filtered air before recycling the clean air back into the kitchen. Please consider your style of cooking as a general guide. Frying will require a high extraction rate to efficiently extract the grease and odours. The grease filters will require more frequent washing to help maintain the extractors performance. Calculating Extraction Rates For efficient extraction the size of the kitchen is also an important consideration. The volume of air in the room should ideally be changed at least 12 times per hour. To calculate your approximate requirements multiply the room Length x Width x Height, ie: L2.5m x W3m x H2.5m = 18.75m m 3 x 12 times = 225m 3 /hour. A hood in this instance should be selected that provides a minimum extraction rate of at least 225m 3 /hour. When venting to the outside, the calculation does not take into account efficiency losses in the ducting. It is therefore important to make some extra allowance to accommodate long runs of ducting and 90 o bends. 68

The High Definition range offers conventional LED S matched with an optical lens to maximise light output. All of the LED lights offer high light outputs with long life, cool running and minimal running costs. Most are available in Warm, Cool or Neutral White. Warm White LED S give a soft orange/yellow light which mirrors a traditional tungsten or halogen light source. Cool White is colder and is particularly suitable to a modern high gloss design of kitchen. If you require something inbetween, Neutral White would be the perfect alternative.
