Bicycle parking is available at the entrance. Comfort issues To create and maintain a good working environment with a high level of safety it is necessary to observe and apply certain regulations. It is, for example, not allowed to: - smoke indoors or within a radius of 15 metres outside entrances - bring pets - park bicycles indoors - make holes in walls, floors or ceilings to fasten interior fittings or equipment - place furniture, freezers etc. in working or public areas - block doors to working areas or evacuation routes - convert or modify installations in the building with the approval of Akademiska Hus - transport, move or position heavy equipment without the approval of Akademiska Hus - leave doors open in fire cell boundaries with wedges etc. Please check that doors are closed and locked at the end of the working day. Emergency shower When inspecting and testing emergency showers, use buckets because there are no floor wells in laboratory corridors. This is not necessary when testing eye showers because they are connected to the drains. Information for the disabled Car parking Parking places intended for vehicles with certificates for the disabled are available near the entrance. See map of Campus Solna Entrance and lifts The entrance has been adapted for ease of access and all floors can be reached by wheelchair. Sida 2

Toilets and shower Toilets adapted for the disabled are available on each floor and are fitted with local safety alarms. Showers and changing rooms adapted for persons in wheelchairs are available on Alfa floor 1. Temporary evacuation places in case of fire In the event of fire there are temporary evacuation places where the disabled can receive help to evacuate. These areas are located in the lift hall at the main stairway. A temporary evacuation area consists of a separate fire cell and is equipped with a call system. An alarm goes off when the red button, marked "SIGNAL", is pressed, which is then connected to the fire protection panel and the reception. The call is localised and acknowledged and "KVITTENS" is shown on call system display. The person in distress is then rescued. Evacuation chairs Evacuation chairs for use on the stairs are stored in a separately signposted area in the main stairway on floors 3, 4, 5, and 6 and on Gamma floor 7. Other floors have evacuation facilities via doors directly to the outside. The evacuation routes on Beta floor 1 and 2 are supplemented with signposting for persons in wheelchairs. For example, there are evacuation facilities for persons in wheelchairs on Beta floor 1 via the north stairs, in Beta floor 2 to Delta and on Gamma floor 1 and 2. Sida 3

Windows Windows must not be opened and can only be opened with special tools in conjunction with service work. The Building General KISP consists of three distinct oval building structures, Alfa, Beta and Gamma, with seven floors and connecting building, Delta. The building has been designed by SWECO and the total area is approximately 32,500 square metres. Alfa and Beta Alfa floor 1 consists of installation areas, changing rooms, a gas central and research rooms. The gas central contains a central supply of argon, helium and oxygen, and a storage room for special gases. The central supply of nitrogen gas and carbon dioxide takes place from gas tanks at Fogdevreten. Beta floor 1 contains installation areas, a laboratory, rooms for production of pure steam, storerooms and waste disposal rooms. Read more about waste disposal rooms in the section on Waste Disposal. The remaining floors contain rooms for laboratory activities and associated administration rooms. Delta Alfa, Beta and Gamma are connected via a two-floor building, Delta, which on floor 2 contains a common entrance hall with reception, café and patio. Delta floor 1 consists of installation areas, a cleaning central, entrance to waste disposal room, Sida 5

goods acceptance and loading point lifting table. The goods acceptance is adapted for 12 metre long vehicles, i.e. trucks without trailers. Gamma Gamma floor 1 consists of a cleaning central and installation areas. Floor 2 contains installation areas, conference department and changing rooms for Gamma's tenants. On floors 3-6 there are laboratories, offices and meeting rooms. Floor 7 consists of offices and meeting rooms, and floor 8 is a fan room floor. Background KISP has been designed to contain efficient offices for companies working with biomedical research. The buildings can also contain a business with research and training equivalent to the one on the campus. The research offices have been designed within the framework of an advanced system concept that permits rapid adjustments to activities without major interference to the surrounding offices. Several research companies should be able to work on the same floor, which sets special requirements for access, security, evacuation and noise levels. The buildings have an expressive architecture that emphasises their location in the busiest approach to the campus area and Tomteboda, while also forming a natural part of Campus Solna. Framework Sida 6

The decking mainly consists of concrete and steel structures and can withstand a load of 400 kg/square metre for a uniformly distributed load. In corridors with offices on each side there are floor panels to concealed media systems in channels, see photo. The floor panel withstand a load of 300 kg on a two-wheeled barrow with rubber wheels. A load of 600 kg is acceptable with a four-wheeled carrier. For higher loads, double layers of plywood with displaced joints should be placed under the wheels. There are special suction devices in the building to open the floor panels. There are shut-off valve for media in to laboratories under the panels. Room numbers The following principle is used to number all the rooms in the building and to simplify orientation: B the letter refers to the building. B the first number is the floor. B the second, third and fourth numbers refer to the position of the room on the floor. Note that: The same room numbers can be found in all the buildings, which means the letter for the building is needed to show the position of the room. Lifts General KISP has a total of seven lifts, one passenger and one passenger and transport lift in each of Alfa, Beta and Gamma, and one small lift in the Delta building. Sida 7

The passenger lifts H1, H3 and H6 go between floors 1-6 and can carry a load of 1250 kg. The door size is W1100xH2100 mm and the cage size is W1500xD1600xH2300 mm. The passenger and loading lifts H2, H4 and H7 can carry a load of 2100 kg. The door size is W1400xH2600 mm and the cage size is W1500xD2800xH2600 mm. Lifts H2 and H4 go between floors 1-6 and H7 between floors 1-8. In Delta, between floors 1-2, there is a lift that carries 400 kg. Note that this lift is blocked when the café is closed. Loading lifts for transports To call for the large lifts, press the button marked "Loading lift" pressed for at least 5 seconds. There is a priority function via a key switch inside the lift. Lifts during a fire If there is a fire the lifts go to the entrance floor where any passengers get off, and then stop there with closed doors. If there is a fire on the entrance floor the lifts are directed to another floor. Lifts during a power failure The lifts are supplied with auxiliary power and directed to the entrance floor in the event of a power loss. Emergency signal in lifts If a lift stops between floors, press the button for the emergency signal for at least 25 seconds. An alarm signal goes on outside the lift and an emergency alarm goes to the Akademiska Hus on-duty lift service 24 hours a day. Persons in distress are then rescued. Fire alarm Automatic fire alarm There are smoke detectors in corridors and general areas, which automatically trip an evacuation alarm if smoke develops in the building section concerned. Alarms are indicated with bells and red Sida 8

flashing lights in the respective building section. Some smaller rooms only have flashing lights. Fire alarms triggered are routed span style directly to the Rescue Service. You can set off the fire alarm yourself by using the pushbuttons in evacuation routes on each floor. For fires which cannot be extinguished with fire extinguishers call the span style 112 emergency number. If possible, confine the seat of the fire by closing doors around the seat. The lift must not be used in case of fire. If there is a fire the lifts go to the entrance floor where any passengers get off, and then stop there with closed doors. If there is a fire on the entrance floor the lifts are directed to another floor. The actual circumstances in the event of a fire obviously dictate what action should be taken in each individual case. Pay attention to the basic rule: RESCUE WARN CALL 112 EXTINGUISH - save yourself and others in your vicinity, but do not expose yourself to danger - warn others who could be in danger - alarm the Rescue Service by calling extinguish the fire if possible Sprinklers The building is equipped with an automatic water sprinkler system. In the event of a sprinkler alarm the fire alarm goes off the entire building and an alarm goes directly to the Rescue Service. Sida 9

A sprinkler head consists of a glass bulb that bursts at 68 C or by inflicted damage and thus discharge water. Fire cells KISP is divided into a number of fire cells to prevent a fire and smoke spreading. Each fire cell is separated by fire-classed flooring, walls and doors. All the buildings, stairways and lift shafts, floors, waste disposal rooms and installation shafts have in general their own fire cells. Doors in fire cells must under no circumstances be left open by using wedges, etc. Alarm for other danger Internal evacuation alarm There are internal evacuation alarms in the laboratories in Alfa and Beta, which can be used for example if chemicals are released. These evacuation alarms are activated manually via white alarm buttons and are indicated with a siren and orange flashing light on the relevant floor. If necessary, call the Rescue Service on 112 when the alarm is not directly linked to the Rescue Service. Other alarms Sida 10

General There are several different service alarms to monitor different technical functions in the building. We distinguish between local alarms and alarms that are directly linked to Akademiska Hus. Local alarms are handled and reset by the user. Remember to evacuate the building if both the power and auxiliary power is knocked out (all lighting goes off). See section Lighting and electricity, and the heading Power supply. Security and burglar alarm Security is managed by the security company. Burglar alarms are directly transferred to the security company, which comes to immediate assistance. Safety alarms in rest rooms, toilets for the disabled and cold store In rest rooms and toilets adapted for the disabled there are local safety alarms with red pushbuttons marked "emergency signal". Alarms are indicated outside respective rooms with an audio signal and red flashing light. It is important to contact the person that needs help if you see and hear this alarm. Alarms are reset and handled by the user. Gas alarm Sida 11

There is gas alarm for low oxygen level in the gas central in the Alfa building on floor 1 and in rooms for freezers in Beta floor 1 where liquid nitrogen is handled. The alarms are local and are indicated by sirens and blue flashing lights in the actual room and corridor outside. It is important to go in and help persons out from the room if you see and hear this alarm. Do not breathe in released nitrogen gas. Ventilation alarm There is a ventilation alarm in laboratory areas which is tripped in the event of a low ventilation flow. The alarm is indicated with a blue flashing light in laboratory corridors and is directly connected to Akademiska Hus. Other For information concerning fire alarms, alarms for other danger and emergency signals in lifts, see separate sections. Evacuation General From each workplace it is possible to reach two stairways that consist of separate evacuation routes, and these must not be blocked. The evacuation routes are marked with green, illuminated evacuation signs, which are always lit up and have battery backup in the event of a power failure. When the fire alarm is triggered in another building section Sida 12

, you must remain in the building section you belong to. Only evacuate if the fire alarm is activated in the building section you are in, unless otherwise instructed by the Rescue Service. If possible, avoid passing through Building Delta. Use the escape routes which exit directly to the outside. Evacuation plans are put up on each floor and show the evacuation routes, assembly points and hand-held fire extinguishers. All staff must leave the building if the fire alarm is activated, closing all the doors behind them and meeting at the assembly point.. The Rescue Service or Akademiska Hus will then authorise a return to the workplace. Keep in mind that buildings are evacuated one by one and only in the building section which triggered the fire alarm. For example, there are evacuation facilities for persons in wheelchairs on Beta floor 1 Sida 13

via the north stairs, in Beta floor 2 to Delta and on Gamma floor 1 and 2. Lighting and electricity Lighting The lighting in stairways is controlled automatically by acoustic detectors. In general areas such as corridors, cloakrooms and meeting places the lighting is time controlled. In addition to the set times, the lighting can be switched on manually via pushbuttons and is switched off via attendance detectors. Several light fittings are left on 24 hours a day on each floor in stairways and corridors to serve as guiding lights. The lighting in offices, laboratories, meeting and conference rooms is switched on and off manually via pushbuttons inside the doors. Attendance detectors switch off the lighting if no one has been in the room for a set time. The lighting in WC rooms is switched on and off automatically via attendance detectors. The lighting in conference rooms can be adjusted. Switch on and off by pushing the button, and adjust the brightness by continuing to press. Sida 14

Power supply Distribution boxes for A-power and B-power are placed in locked B-power rooms on each floor. B-power is the normal power and supplies basically all equipment and installations, e.g. lighting, power sockets and outlets. A-power is the auxiliary power that takes over the power supply to lifts, ventilation units and guide lighting in the event of a power failure. The transition from B- to A-power is not simultaneous and takes from 15 seconds to 2 minutes. A- power outlets are marked with red labels. Fully simultaneous power UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) can be installed if necessary. Office outlets In offices there are permanent outlets on the floor and/or walls, fitted with power points, earth fault switches and mains outlets. Laboratory outlets Sida 15

In laboratories there are local distribution boxes with earth fault switches and automatic fuses. In the event of a power failure or tripped fuse you can reset the fuse yourself by folding back the fuse in upright position. If the fault recurs, contact Akademiska Hus to investigate the reason and correct the fault. In laboratories there are power points in KBA rails installed in the ceiling. Outlets fitted with power points, earth fault switches, mains outlets and other electrical equipment are connected to the rails. There are outlets under the shelf in laboratory tables to supplement the other outlets. Electrical equipment that requires more than 16A is supplied directly from the distribution box in B-power rooms. Room climate General To ensure the good quality of the air in the rooms the ventilation is adjusted to the number of persons and the equipment planned for the rooms. Deviations in the indoor climate may occur in the event of very high outdoor temperatures and humidity in the summer or very low outdoor temperatures in the winter. Radiators have been placed along the facade walls to counteract downdraughts. These must not be controlled manually. Temperature in offices, laboratories, meeting and conference rooms Sida 16

The normal temperature in these rooms can be adjusted via a regulator on the wall. Turning to plus makes it warmer, turning to minus makes it colder. Note that manually changing the temperature can take a long time because of the thermal inertia in the building. The building structure stores heat and cooling and counteracts rapid changes. Ventilation in laboratories The ventilation in laboratories is adjusted to requirements. This means that the air change rate changes when opening panels when working at ventilated workplaces, in addition to a continuous basic flow. The ventilation has an auxiliary power supply to always safeguard the basic flow. See section Other alarms and heading Ventilation alarm. Ventilation conference room The ventilation in conference rooms is controlled automatically via carbon dioxide and temperature sensors. This means that the air change rate is automatically adjusted to the number of persons and heating requirements over and above the basic flow. In conference rooms and some meeting rooms it is also possible to accelerate the ventilation via pushbuttons. The air flow then increases for a set time. Blocking night cooling The rooms are cooled with cold outdoor air during the summer nights. If when working at night you experience the room to be too cold, you can block this night cooling function via pushbuttons Sida 17

placed in the corridor. Sun protection The building has external permanent sun shields and internal intermediate glass curtains to achieve a good room climate and prevent dazzling. The intermediate glass curtains are controlled automatically by the position of the sun. In the meeting and conference rooms that have intermediate glass windows, the automatic function can be stopped and controlled manually via pushbuttons. They return to automatic control twice a day. Waste disposal Local environmental stations Waste is sorted and temporarily stored in the following fractions at environmental stations in each floor, before being transported to the waste disposal room in Beta on floor 1. - paper collecting - coloured glass - uncoloured glass - hard plastic - metal - batteries - combustible (household waste, polystyrene and cleaning waste) - cardboard and corrugated Sida 18

Toner cartridges are sent back to the supplier. Other waste Solvents and radioactive, chemical and biological waste are temporarily stored in the intended rooms in Beta on floor 1 and are handled in accordance with special regulations. Sida 19
