Hollifield and Eddie Habibi Includes ISA Standard: ANSI/ISA Management of Alarm Systems for the Process Industries Instructor John Bogdan: John Bogdan is an independent consultant in alarm management and process control. He has over thirty years of experience in alarm management, advanced process control, safety systems, and process op miza on, as well as a Six Sigma cer fica on. His past work experience includes various posi ons with DuPont and Invensys. He is a vo ng member of the ISA 18.2 Commi ee on Management of Alarm Systems in the Process Industries and is an ISA instructor in alarm management. He has wri en and presented papers on alarm management at the Texas A&M Instrumenta on Symposium for the Process Industries, the IPS North American Client Conference, the Western Regional Gas Conference, the ISA Automa on World 2010, and in Control Engineering magazine. He holds a B.S. & M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He also can provide an Alarm Philosophy Development Workshop designed to effec vely and economically assist in the development of a customized alarm philosophy.
3 Control Loop Tuning Strategies Length: 1 day PDH Credits: 8 Course Hours: April 2, 2015, 7:45 a.m. 5:15 p.m. Seminar Overview: This course will begin by briefly reviewing the design condi ons that must be sa sfied for any automa c control loop to operate effec vely. A number of typical process control loops will be inves gated in detail, and typical response characteris cs will be explored. The impact of dynamic loop behavior on the feedback control characteris cs will be discussed. Both open and closed loop tuning strategies will be presented. The tuning techniques presented will be prac ced using laptop computers provided in the class running Control Sta on Loop Pro control system simula on so ware. A er inves ga ng PID feedback control, common socalled advanced control strategies will be demonstrated. In addi on to the use of the simula on program, each a endee will receive a copy of the Control Loop Tuning Handbook by G.K. McMillan. In order to facilitate your learning a laptop with the program will be provided for use during the class. He graduated from Washington State University with a BS is chemical engineering and from University of Connec cut with an MS in chemical engineering. He is licensed in the state of Alaska as a professional chemical engineer and in the state of California as a professional control system engineer. He has been a member of the Alaska Sec on of ISA since the sec on was formed. Rebecca Weaver is a professor of Process Technology at Kenai Peninsula College. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a BS and a MS in Mathema cs. She is a member of the Alaska Sec on of ISA.

John is an industrial control systems cybersecurity and func onal safety expert with more than twenty years of experience. He joins aesolu ons from exida where he was responsible for the development and execu on of their consul ng and cer fica on services for cybersecurity. Prior to that, John led market development for Siemens process automa on and safety products and held various product marke ng posi ons at Moore Products Co. John started his career at Eastman Kodak Company, where he implemented and managed automa on projects. He has a B.S. degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Clarkson University and holds CFSE, CISSP and GICSP cer fica ons as well as an ISA99/IEC Cybersecurity Fundamentals Specialist cer ficate. John has performed countless control system cybersecurity vulnerability and cyber risk assessments in the Oil & Gas, Chemical, Water/Wastewater, and Power industries per ISA/IEC and NERC CIP standards. He has also overseen and par cipated in the security tes ng and cer fica on of several control and safety systems per the ISASecure and Achilles security cer fica on programs. A leader in the development of ICS cybersecurity standards and best prac ces, John is Chairman of ISA 99 WG4 TG2 Zones & Conduits commi ee and co chair of ISA 99 WG4 TG6 Product Development commi ee. He was instrumental in the development of the ISASecure cer fica on scheme and was recently appointed as US Expert to the IEC TC65 WG10 commi ee. John is also the lead course developer and instructor for the ISA IC32 training course.
