This presentation focuses on isolation solutions for both the oil/gas and power industries, the cost of ownership and different types of valves for different applications. 9 am LOKRING Patented Weld Equivalent Elastic Strain Preload (ESP) Technology No Welds, No Threads, No Leaks, No Problem IISCO (Industrial Instrument Service Inc), Dayton Williams Orientation, Installation and Inspection Training on LOKRING s patented weld equivalent, ESP - Elastic Strain Preload Technology with the LOKRING pipe fittings and the LOKRING, patented braze equivalent, medical gas fittings. By eliminating the welding and brazing processes, many overhead costs relating to safety, personnel, equipment and supplies, inspection, rework and monitoring can be eliminated or substantially reduced by using the LOKRING solution. 10 am Freeze Protection in the Arctic du Alaska Incorporated, Ernie Dummann The presentation will cover an overview of heating cable types including advantages and disadvantages, engineering consideration, applications in freeze protection, viscosity control, installations, certifications and codes. 11 am Multi-Point density Array VEGA Americas, Inc., Tai Piazza, Western Regional sales Manager The presentation will introduce the ISA Alaska audience to the Multi-Point Density Array (MDA) solution for fixed point interface profiling measurements in difficult interface / heavy emulsion processes. Applications to be discussed include desalters, free water knockout drums, separators, and treators in the oil and as industry. The VEGA MDA system provides the ability to understand the emulsion density characteristics across the span of measurement. Understanding and monitoring these characteristics provide operators with information that can lead to process optimization of the vessel, resulting in better performance and increased throughput. 12 pm Lunch Break 1 pm Performance based Burner Management Systems Who, What, When and Why aesolutions, Tim Pieszchala A brief overview of Burner Management System functionality and the codes / standards that govern typical unit operations will be presented. Also addressed will be Burner Management System requirements as contained in these codes / standards, as well as, their relationship as a potential Safety Instrumented System. In short, if you are attempting to procure a new fired device, there are several questions that need to be addressed or you could end up with possible budget / schedule issues on your project. These risk areas will be highlighted and discussed as a group. Here s some typical questions that will be tackled in the presentation: Is a Burner Management System a Safety Instrumented System? Is the Burner Management System provided by the OEM acceptable as-is? What are the grandfathering requirements for Burner Management Systems? What code or standard applies to my Burner Management System? 2 pm Zero Leakage Valve Solutions VALVTechnologies, Richard Laukam ValvTechnologies is a leader in the design and manufacture of metal seated ball valve solutions for severe service applications. This presentation focuses on isolation solutions for both the oil/gas and power industries, the cost of ownership and different types of valves for different applications. 3 pm LOKRING Patented Weld Equivalent Elastic Strain Preload (ESP) Technology No Welds, No Threads, No Leaks, No Problem IISCO (Industrial Instrument Service Inc), Dayton Williams Description: Introduction and Technical Presentation on LOKRING s patented weld equivalent, ESP - Elastic Strain Preload Technology. Product overviews on the Lokring pipe and tube permanent cold weld alternative solution and medical gas permanent cold braze alternative. By eliminating the welding and brazing processes, many overhead costs relating to safety, personnel, equipment and supplies, inspection, rework and monitoring can be eliminated or substantially reduced by using the LOKRING solution. By using LOKRING, the combination of greater productivity and lower man-hour rates translates into an overall cost savings of 60% or more. 4 & 5 pm Performance Based Fire & Gas System Designs and Detector Mapping Who, What, When and Why aesolutions, Warren Johnson, PE, PMP With the issuance of the ISA TR Guidance on the Evaluation of Fire and Gas System Effectiveness one can now design a Fire & Gas System to meet a specific risk reduction target. This is a powerful concept that extends the benefits of using a performance based design methodology to ensure the right size Fire & Gas System has been designed and installed to mitigate a known hazard. This session will provide an overview on performance based Fire & Gas System design concepts. Here s some typical questions that will be tackled in the presentation: Is a Fire & Gas System a Safety Instrumented System? How do I determine Fire & Gas System Effectiveness? What factors dominate Fire & Gas System Effectiveness? How do I define a Mitigative Protective Function?
3 Thursday, April 2 nd, 2015 Sheraton Anchorage Hotel 8 am 9 am 8 pm: Exhibits (Howard Rock Ballroom) 8 am 6 pm: Technical Presentations (Yukon room): 9 am LOKRING Patented Weld Equivalent Elastic Strain Preload (ESP) Technology No Welds, No Threads, No Leaks, No Problem IISCO (Industrial Instrument Service Inc), Dayton Williams Orientation, Installation and Inspection Training on LOKRING s patented weld equivalent, ESP - Elastic Strain Preload Technology with the LOKRING pipe fittings and the LOKRING, patented braze equivalent, medical gas fittings. The key is a proper valve design. Come learn about the details. 11 am ISA TR Backhaul Architecture Model: Secured Connectivity over Untrusted or Trusted Networks Tempered Networks, Lucas Kane Today SCADA and diverse devices and systems are communicating using Ethernet and IP while also being connected to corporate IP based networks and the Internet, increasing the potential of threat vulnerabilities. The use of existing network security solutions for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and SCADA systems has proven to insufficient and difficult to deploy and maintain. This presentation will focus on protecting your ICS and SCADA network with backed-in and not bolt-on solutions designed specifically to protect your Industrial Control System and SCADA network without the need for IT Security Experts to deploy and maintain your system. 12 pm ISA Wireless Systems for Industrial Automation Yokogawa, Dan Blome Wireless instrumentation is creating a lot of enthusiasm within the industry today, full of opportunity and possibilities for new and exciting process measurement. This presentation will focus on the technologies that exist and the business benefits of industrial wireless. 1 pm The Changing Role of the Operator. Engaging and Supporting the Operators of Today GE Intelligent Platforms Vance Efford The need to transform data into useful, easy-to-use information is essential as many operators and technicians are nearing retirement age and thus, resulting in companies losing operator knowledge as the retirees exit the workforce. This presentation will discuss how systems are now being deployed with heavy input from the operators. Moving away from being purely functional data solutions into intelligent, analytical systems. 2 pm 3 pm LOKRING Patented Weld Equivalent Elastic Strain Preload (ESP) Technology No Welds, No Threads, No Leaks, No Problem IISCO (Industrial Instrument Service Inc), Dayton Williams Description: Introduction and Technical Presentation on LOKRING s patented weld equivalent, ESP - Elastic Strain Preload Technology. April 2, 2015 Control Loop Tuning Strategies Length: 1 day PDH Credits: 8 Course Hours: April 2, 2015, 7:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. Instructors: Allen Houtz and Rebecca Weaver Seminar Overview: This course will begin by briefly reviewing the design conditions that must be satisfied for any automatic control loop to operate effectively. A number of typical process control loops will be investigated in detail, and typical response characteristics will be explored. The impact of dynamic loop behavior on the feedback control characteristics will be discussed. Both open and closed loop tuning strategies will be presented. The tuning techniques presented will be practiced using laptop computers provided in the class running Control Station Loop-Pro control system simulation software. After investigating PID feedback control, common so-called advanced control strategies will be demonstrated. In addition to the use of the simulation program, each attendee will receive a copy of the Control Loop Tuning Handbook by G.K. McMillan.
