Electrical sparks ignited the air conditioner's coolant causing minor damage to the residence. A civilian injury occurred as a result of this fire. The victim sustained a second degree burn to his right forearm attempting to repair the air conditioner. The victim was treated and released at the scene of this incident. It is unknown if the residence had a properly installed operational fire alarm system at the time of this incident. This is an insured loss. Engine 46 was the first unit to respond to this incident. 1

Type 3-Story Brick Apartments Council District 12 Owner Mid-American Apartments LP Injuries (Firefighter/ One Civilian Injury Nikita Frazier Deer Run Apartments. Fire Alarm System Yes Operational Yes Building: $15,286, Content: $7, TOTAL $15,293, $30, $5, $35, This accidental fire was caused by the careless use of an electric cook stove. This fire was started by the ignition of cooking oil left on the stove unattended. The fire caused major damage to the kitchen and contents. A civilian injury occurred as a result of this fire. The victim sustained first degree burns to their right forearm attempting to extinguish the fire with a portable fire extinguisher. The victim was treated and released at the scene of this incident. This apartment had a properly installed fire alarm system that alerted the occupants of the fire. This is not an insured loss. Engine 10 was the first unit to respond to this incident. 2

Fire damage was minimal but extended to the adjacent condominium. The condominiums had a properly installed operational fire alarm system that alerted the occupants and aided in their escape. This is an insured loss. Truck 56 was the first unit to respond to this incident. 3

The fire started in a second floor apartment and spread up to the attic. This apartment building had a properly installed fire alarm at the time of this fire. It is unknown if the fire alarm system was operational at the time of the fire. This is not an insured loss. Engine 40 was the first unit to respond to this incident. 4

The fire damaged the roof and two apartment units below the attic. This apartment building had a properly installed operational fire alarm system that warned the occupants of the apartments and aided in their escape. This is not an insured loss. The child ignited paper and cloth that spread to a chair in the kitchen of this apartment. A civilian injury occurred as a result of this fire. The victim sustained thermal burns to their shoulder, back and legs. The victim was transported to Parkland Hospital by Rescue 29. This apartment had a properly installed operational fire alarm system at the time of this fire. This is not an insured loss. Engine 29 was the first unit to respond to this incident. 6

It is unknown if the fire alarm system was operational at the time of the fire. Insurance information is unknown at this time. Engine 22 was the first unit to respond to this incident. 7

This fire started in a bedroom and spread to the hallway and kitchen. Two civilian injuries occurred as a result of this fire. One victim sustained thermal burns to their hands. This victim was transported to Parkland Hospital by rescue 8. The other victim sustained smoke inhalation injuries and was transported to Baylor Hospital by Rescue 19. This residence did not have a fire alarm installed at the time of this fire. This is not an insured loss. Engine 19 was the first unit to respond to this incident. 8

This fire started on the roof of this apartment building after the termination of roof repairs. The fire was confined to the roof and one vacant apartment. This apartment building had a properly installed operational fire alarm system that warned the occupants and aided in their escape. This is an insured loss. The committee will convene in 6ES at 11:00 a.m., to discuss the administrative items on the agenda and then adjourn the meeting with a tour to the training division facility. After the tour the committee will reconvene in 6ES as a formality to adjourn, prior to the 1:00 p.m. Transportation & Trinity River Project Committee Meeting.
