We offer an extensive range of finishes as listed below. What s the best timber for a painted finish? Different timbers produce different results when painted. Popular is best for a smooth painted finish. For those who want to have a visible wood grain after painting Red Oak, Ash or White Oak would be recommended. For those wanting knots, cracks, splits and grain to be visible through their painted finish we would recommend Pippy Oak. Why do hairline cracks sometimes appear on painted doors after a period of time? As timber is a natural living product, it is prone to movement when exposed to adverse temperatures. High levels of moisture in the air caused by humidity can cause door expansion, whilst colder air can result in panel shrinkage. When painted doors are affected by these conditions it may result in the appearance of hairline cracks along the joints. We have constructed a range of doors that limit the risk of hairline cracks appearing. Cheque iii. Cash iv. Visa v. laser vi. Mastercard vii. Electronic transfer b) Where credit facilities have been expressly agreed in writing, payment should be made in line with those terms. if payment is not received by the due date, the Company reserves the right to charge interest at the rate of 8% per annum or part thereof on the overdue balance which rate shall apply both before and after judgement. unfortunately if we do not receive payment in accordance with credit terms granted, your account will automatically default to a held status thereby preventing further orders from being processed and released. your account will be reactivated whenever payment for overdue amounts is received and lead times will apply from that date. c) the company has the right to revoke credit terms and revert to a strictly pro forma basis if account terms are not honoured. We reserve the right to recharge the customer for bank charges thereby incurred ( 10 per incidence). d) all goods shall remain the property of the Company until all monies due are paid in full by the Customer. the Company shall be entitled to bring an action for the price of part thereof whether or not the property in the goods has passed. the retention of title is quoted on all invoices. e) the company reserves the right to charge 2% on Visa/Mastercard payments 4. termination if: a) any debt due from the Customer to the Company is unpaid within 7 days after becoming due; b) the Customer becomes insolvent or goes into liquidation (both of which expressions shall whenever they appear in these conditions be interpreted in accordance with Company acts) or has a receiver appointed over any of its assets; or c) the Customer has failed to provide any letter of credit, bill of exchange or any other security required by the contract between the Company and the Customer in the terms of such requirements; or d) the Customer fails on cheques being returned, the Company shall (without prejudice to any other rights the Company may have) be entitled to cancel the contract and reclaim any of the goods not paid for in full which have been delivered to the Customer, and shall be entitled to claim for any direct or consequential loss to the Company caused as a result of such cancellation. a) loughnane s Joinery reserves the right, without prior notification, to discontinue any product or make changes to the design of any product as part of its continuing product development. 6. Delivery of goods a) in order to comply with conditions of haulage imposed on the company by its carriers, claims for damage in transit cannot be entertained by the Company unless the Carrier s delivery documentation has been endorsed to that effect. 7. returns/collections a) Due to the bespoke nature of our products, loughnane s Joinery cannot approve returns for products ordered incorrectly by the customer. b) goods that have been worked on or modified in any way after delivery will also not be accepted. if any goods supplied by the Company are found to be of defective workmanship or material the Company undertakes to have them replaced or repaired. the company reserves the right to inspect such goods prior to return. c) upon receipt of a delivery it is essential that any discrepancies or goods to be returned for credit, are notified within 7 days of receipt and returned within 28 days (returns will not be accepted after that deadline). please note: goods can only be returned to us by arrangement, please telephone or fax our office for assistance. Credit requests will only be considered when goods are physically returned to loughnane s Joinery. Once loughnane s Joinery have been notified of all goods pending return, the following information must be provided before the return/collection can be facilitated: Order number; Contact name; specific date when goods will be ready for collections; address at which goods are to be collected; reason for return identified: goods damaged in transit (where possible, photographic evidence to be supplied in JpEg format); goods being returned for non- conforming quality. 8. governing law a) the Contract between the Company and the Customer shall be governed by irish law. 9. Colour Matching a) solid timber is a natural product and colour variances will occur. therefore if we are matching doors we accept no responsibility if the doors do not match in colour. b) painted colours are as near as possible to the Bs 4800 colour chart but colours are approximate only due to, among other things, printing limitations. We do not accept any responsibility for variation. Timber is a natural product? solid timber is a living natural product, and therefore it is not possible or desirable to strive for total uniformity of shading and grain pattern. Our aim is at all times to operate within controlled parameters that recognise variations as both acceptable and aesthetically pleasing. How does moisture affect timber products? timber is hygroscopic meaning it absorbs and releases water depending on the environment it is in.
