4 SO, WHAT IS A SMART CITY? (FUTURE CITY) Effective integration of physical, digital and human systems in the built environment to deliver a sustainable, prosperous and inclusive future for its citizens PILOT PROJECT ALBA IULIA SMART CITY 2018 Transform Alba Iulia Municipality into the first city in Romania where integrated smart city solutions will be tested with the occasion of celebrating 100 years since the Unification of Romania It is the first smart city project developed jointly by the national government, a local public authority, institutions and private companies Alba Iulia Smart City will use smart technology and data in addressing present and future city challenges related to resilience, sustainability, social and economic development, energy and environmental issues The pilot project is focused on implementing smart, innovative and compatible solutions at local level, developed by the private sector on their cost and with infrastructure and administration support, in a wide range of areas
5 SIEMENS STUDY CASE FOR SMART CITIES A new study by Siemens and Arup proposes a methodology for quantifying return on investments in digital urban infrastructure, based on an analysis of five European cities. - The cost-value model for smart infrastructure investments - Quantification of direct and indirect benefits based on technical and economic models - Connectivity: WiFi, E-Bike, e-ticket, tourism platform, virtual reality - Transport: average travel/fluidization, route planning, parking management - Energy: renewable sources, smart grids, public lighting
