2 Freelance Landscape Assistant Organisation: Ryder Landscape Consultants, Chester Nottingham Left Bank Flood Alleviation Scheme Date: 2011 This shows some of my work on the Nottingham Trent Flood Alleviation Scheme. As well as developing a maintenance plan for the scheme I also prepared illustrative, qualitative and quantitative documentation. The 51 million scheme aims to reduce the risk to 16,000 homes and businesses along a 27 kilometre stretch of the River Trent. The defence alignment through Attenborough was particularly challenging because of its proximity to a nature reserve designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). I modelled a long section of the flood alleviation wall in this section, which gave the planners a clearer idea of whether the materials and construction of the pillars and wall were appropriate for the sensitive areas through which the wall passed.

3 Freelance Landscape Architect Organisation: Felix Dennis Estate, Warwickshire LVIA, Honeybourne, Worcestershire Date: 2013 The LVIA accompanied an application under the Forestry Commission s English Woodland Grant Scheme for a 162 hectare planting scheme at Baylis s Hill Farm, Stratford Road, Honeybourne. This LVIA was carried out on behalf of The Heart of England Forest Ltd., a registered charity and Felix Dennis, the land owner. The proposal was assessed by taking short, middle and long distance views into the proposed woodland as well as short, middle and long distance views from the proposed woodland. In addition the site of the proposed planting was viewed from several high spots including Dover s Hill and Evesham Tower. The majority of views are in the public domain, except for the short distance views looking out of the site, which are currently private property but will become accessible, if the proposed woodland is planted.

6 Organisation: Date: Landscape Architect Groundwork Lancashire West and Wigan Leigh Columbarium 2015 (not built yet) Design objectives Designed to be attractive to pedestrians and traffic passing along Manchester Road, and also visitors making their way through the cemetery. The number of burials to be maximised while maintaining an attractive space for visitors. An opportunity for contemplation. Proposals As an antidote and departure from conventional linear designs normally associated with graves and columbaria, this design while offering symmetry is circular with a 1.2m axis. The columbaria stones back onto each other and there is a 1.2m path separating the row. This makes it accessible to wheelchairs.

The surface is manipulated over time and through burial processes to give significance to the surface for commemoration as well as enhance the biodiversity and ecological value of the island. The surface treatments are dependant upon: the stage in the burial process including site selection, excavation, burial, planting, decomposition. existing state of the surface: mature woodland, scrub etc. the location: existing burial sites, proximity to buildings, proximity to the shore
