The potential reachability of an area reveals the zone structure. The future zone-based regions from the points of view of work, mobility and residential and job centers: 1 The labor market region of Southern and South-Western Finland 2 The labor market region of Ostrobothnia 3 The labor market region of Jyväskylä, Kuopio and Joensuu 4 The labor market region of Oulu Map: University of Oulu, Department of Geography YIT 3
Pasila is an intersection of global and local flows The Greater Helsinki Region is developing into a global hub of the knowledge-based economy The labor market region of Southern Finland is growing, and Pasila is at the heart of this growth and related mobility The centre of Helsinki is expanding functionally to the north, turning Pasila into the centre of a new, urban Helsinki The mixed use approach is gradually replacing functional city planning, and Pasila has the space for extensive mixed use development YIT wants to be at the leading edge of community development Pasila is the most significant showcase for new urban development in Finland, with all eyes on it YIT 4
Central Pasila today YIT 5
Central Pasila in the future YIT 6
Tripla the new centre of Pasila A three-block complex, Pasila station is part of Tripla Tripla is bordered by Ratapihantie, Pasilansilta, Pasilankatu and Firdonkatu streets The new alignment of Veturitie will run underneath Tripla. Construction will begin in autumn 2015 after the local plan is confirmed Implementation will take place in phases over approximately 10 years YIT 7
With a modern mixed use approach, Tripla combines Offices, hotel and housing Retail, culture and tourism Public transport Offices, housing and retail have been combined in the past, but Tripla s unique culture concept takes it to a new level Designing the entire block at once ensures a functional complex YIT 8
Tripla s gross floor area is 350,000 m 2. This is equal to football pitches. YIT 9
Tripla has over 50,000 m 2 of office space. Tripla offers 5,000 jobs. Tripla has new homes. Tripla has 400 hotel rooms. YIT 10
Mall of Tripla has 100,000 m 2 of commercial space, of which over 70,000 m 2 will be let to some 200 stores YIT 11
Tripla links the Pasila station seamlessly with the new commercial centre YIT 12 The shops and services of the shopping centre will benefit from the heavy commuter flows travelling through the station
Pasila will be Finland s busiest public transport hub Pasila station is Finland s busiest transport hub 80,000 passengers per day Regional growth, the increasing modal share of public transport and the decrease in private car use will see Pasila s passenger volumes increase further Smooth connections between different modes of transport will increase the station s significance Pasila offers superior transport links to all local residents (no need to own a car) YIT 13
Irresistible location PUBLIC TRANSPORT HUB In 2013, 60,000 commuters pass through Pasila Station every day RING RAIL LINE will join the Vantaankoski rail line with the main line via Helsinki Airport in This will increase the number of passengers to 70,000 80,000 /day CITY RAIL LOOP creates a stronger link between the city centre and Pasila, construction is scheduled to start in This will increase the number of passengers to 140,000 /day METRO? The metro will be extended towards both the east and the west, creating a linking axis across the metropolitan area. This will increase the number of passengers to 200,000 /day BUSSES AND TRAMS It is estimated that 40,000 commuters will be travelling daily through Pasila in the future, either on buses or trams YIT 14
Tripla has 2,400 parking spaces More than 300 e-car charging stations 3,400 bicycle spaces YIT 15
Eventification (Jakob 2013) YIT 16
Cultural concept as the soul of Tripla The cultural concept refers to Tripla s offering of cultural content and experiences that serve local residents in a wide variety of ways. The concept constitutes Tripla s experiential and community-oriented heart, which makes it irresistible. The concept defines the basic solutions of cultural activities as spaces, functions and stakeholders and a profile that supports the image of the Tripla urban centre. Tripla s cultural functions can include the Pasila market square and related functions, a garden and pocket gardens, a cinema for art films, other cultural attractions, a handicrafts and visual arts workshop, and pop-up space. Cultural content is dynamic and changes over time. YIT 17
Sustainable urban environments are at the core of YIT s corporate responsibility Functionality convenience in daily life, combining modes of transport Social Life cultural concept, restaurants and cafés Appearance of the Environment Architectural characterisations Atmosphere constant surprises, etc. Ref. Kyttä 2014 YIT 18
Tripla and the Tower Area Tripla and the Tower Area together create an appealing urban environment and landscape, a new urban Helsinki Tripla is the towers brick-and-mortar store and the residents are Tripla s users and customers Tripla offers services for the Tower Area, including parking for 700 cars. The automated vacuum waste collection terminal in Tripla can be scaled to serve a larger area, namely the Tower Area and the blocks around the railway yard The towers may be an attractive housing option for people who work in Tripla The district s brand will be strengthened and its visibility will be improved => good for investors YIT 19
Strength through cooperation! YIT has extensive experience of cooperation with both the City of Helsinki and Senate Properties The development of the Pasila district involves highly qualified people who know how to drive the project forward Both organisers have implemented extensive urban development projects and are highly professional operators Good cooperation has helped identify functional solutions in planning Open cooperation will achieve good results => consciously building trust YIT 20
