3 MTD-ERV Range for Energy Efficiency The past decade has seen a huge emphasis on increasing the thermal efficiency of home building and we now have draught free, well-insulated homes. 4 How does the MTD-ERV Range Work? The MTD-ERV heat recovery ventilation system eliminates the need for traditional and energy inefficient wall vents. It works by extracting stale waste air from a home s wet areas (kitchen, toilet, shower room, utility room etc.). This warm air is then brought through a counterflow heat exchanger, which warms as the air passes over it and then discharges the waste air to the atmosphere. At the same time, fresh cool air from outside is brought into the counterflow where it gets warmed and then distributed (via ducting) to the home s occupied rooms (bedrooms, living room, study, lounge etc.). 10 Eco-Air TM Accessories MTD Solutions believe in selling you a wholehouse ventilation solution. This solution requires additional components other than just the unit itself. The Dutch Environmental Corporation b.v manufactures a range of accessories for MTD, branded under the Eco-Air trade mark. This extensive range includes everything from ceiling valves and roof cowls to metal clamps and specialist grilles. MTD designs use the Eco-Air insulated, reinforced flexible duct. This duct is certified and fire-tested to Bs1-d0, EN , NEN 6065/6066, B3800; and BS 476 part 6/7 & 20. The Eco-Air ducting has also been tested on airtightness and meets the requirements set in EN standard ventilation in buildings, air ducts; and measurements and mechanical requirements for flexible ducts. This is not a standard flexible duct; but is a bespoke designed five layer aluminium and polyester reinforced composite duct. Each component used on the system layout and installation is certified; right down to the tape and metal clamps. Warranty All units have a standard 1 year manufacturer s parts warranty. However, MTD Solutions believe in providing customers with peace of mind with regard to their units; and have launched a 5 year maintenance service contract and 5 year multiple contract. The 5 year maintenance service contract covers ALL PARTS AND LABOUR on every part of the system. It includes a full service and replacement set of EU F8 filters at three years. There is a monthly direct debit payment for this service. The 5 year multiple contract allows customers to extend the contract by another five years. This second five year period includes replacement EC-DC motors. Brushless DC motors have a life expectancy of approximately 90,000 hours (10 years). With the 5 year multiple contract customers get these motors replaced at no additional charge. The multiple contracts can be taken out for a maximum period of 25 years.
