Fans For Life
Introducing the RetroVent Features Benefits Made in the UK Flying the flag for UK manufacturing, lower carbon footprints and total control over quality Tubular heat recovery cell Designed to fit into any existing 100mm and 150mm wall sleeve. Ideal for replacing extractor fans Cell available in different lengths Design the product to fit the project, fit for purpose, fit for the occupants and fit for the planet High thermal efficiency Delivering up to 89.3% of the energy normally lost back into the property. This will save the occupants in energy costs and will reduce your carbon footprint Double loaded, long life, low watt ball bearing DC motors Ultra long trouble free life, less hassle, less costs Lowest life cycle costs With 5 year on going and renewable warranties the RetroVent is designed to match the lifecycle of your property and should never end up on landfill. Saving significant money on ongoing maintenance and replacement costs Ingenious cleaning and maintenance features Easy to remove and easy to clean heat recovery cell, no electricians needed, less costs Low voltage as standard Ultra safe, why risk it! Automatic summer by pass No warm air coming into the property during the summer. Fewer complaints Intelligent humidity tracker/ occupancy sensor Pull cord option Revolving front grille No need to rely on the occupants to switch the fan on, the RetroVent will track humidity and react silently to it before condensation can start to occur. This technology has eliminated complaints about nuisance running and is making humidistats extinct! Occupant can switch the RetroVent to boost for odour control Direct the incoming air in the direction you prefer Grille available in two different colours White Whisper quiet Front grille available in black or white Eliminate one of the biggest complaints about noisy fans Stylish retro design Black
Retrofit Ventilation for the Future Recently the Technology Strategy Board launched a new programme called Retrofit for the future in order to address the huge energy waste in existing homes and meet the Government s ambitious target of an 80% reduction in carbon emissions by the year To achieve this, we must find technologies that enable Britain to meet its carbon commitments, equating to the upgrade of 2000 properties everyday for the next 30 years! EnviroVent has responded to the challenge with the development of the RetroVent, the most compact, stylish and innovative single room heat recovery unit on the market, designed primarily for refurb applications to improve energyefficiency. The RetroVent is the result of an intense Research and Development process, combined with rigorous testing to deliver a revolutionary product to meet the demands of the retrofit industry. The low voltage Single Room Heat Recovery unit is available in both Ø100mm and Ø150mm for mounting through a wall in WCs, bathrooms, utility rooms and kitchens. It is also suitable for small office applications.

How does RetroVent work? EPP RetroVent continuously extracts stale and moist air from the room, which passes over a high efficiency tubular heat exchange cell. At the same time, fresh, filtered air is supplied through the tubes within the cell, recovering up to 89.3% of the heat from the extracted air. The contaminated, moist air is directed out to atmosphere, whilst the fresh, filtered and warmed air is returned into the room. This constant supply of clean, tempered air creates a healthy and ideal environment, maintaining stable humidity levels reducing the risk of condensation and mould. 6 Back to the future Within the RetroVent, EnviroVent have applied a technology found in early 20th century steam locomotives. In its original form, heat passed through fire tubes, transferring through the tube wall into the water. By heating the water to high temperatures, steam was generated. Instead of water and steam, RetroVent utilises this same principle for air. It extracts waste heat from the property, Why is RetroVent so different? The unique design of the cell results in a longer dwell time as the air cyclones around the barrel, just like a corkscrew. This means that the air has more contact through the cell and is able to build up a greater heat exchange. The tubes within the cell have been twisted through 8 to improve the thermal efficiency. The tubes within the heat exchanger have also been intelligently engineered in the shape of a petal. This provides a larger surface area and minimises resistance around the tubes, similar to that of a honeycomb. This results in more contact with the air and ultimately more heat transfer. which is transferred through the tube wall to heat the incoming fresh air. At best a locomotive would be 30% efficient, however with modern materials and improvements to this technology the RetroVent can now achieve up to 89.3% efficiency!
On demand ventilation The unit will run on constant trickle, providing a healthy climate. Fitted with an intelligent and totally automated humidity tracking function as standard, RetroVent constantly monitors relative humidity and occupancy levels. As humidity rises and falls, the motor speed rises and falls in direct correlation. This controls condensation quietly and efficiently, eliminating user complaints of nuisance running and reducing the periods of time when the fan operates on boost, thus saving energy. Fan Speed Humidity 100% 80% 60% 40% 20% 0%
Summer by-pass as standard RetroVent has the facility to by-pass the heat recovery process during the warmer months of the year. When the temperature reaches 25 C the unit will automatically switch over to extract-only mode so that no user intervention is required. As the temperature falls, the unit will automatically return to heat recovery mode. Exceptionally quiet Ideal for urban environments, the RetroVent runs incredibly quietly. It incorporates two fans, one at the front of the unit and one at the rear, which operate with minimal noise. This frequency level from the fans and from any outside noise pollution is then further attenuated by the cell, resulting in reduced running noise. Innovative revolving front grille 40 o The front grille has been engineered to revolve through 40 to position the airflow in the desired direction. This is particularly beneficial if the unit is installed in small office environments. Low Watt motor technology RetroVent is fitted with double loaded, long life, low watt DC motor technology to ensure minimum energy consumption and long trouble free life. Innovative condensate facility The unique design of the RetroVent allows the heat exchange cell to be completely sealed within the cell casing, providing a totally air tight compartment. Any condensate that were to form would be held within the barrel and drain out through the tubes to the rear of the unit where holes are located out to atmosphere. Lowest Life Cycle Costs RetroVent comes complete with a five year warranty and has been designed with an ingenious cleaning and servicing facility. In order to maintain the efficiency and performance of the unit, the plug out/plug in heat exchange cartridge can be simply removed with the use of the service key provided. The cell can then be vacuumed to remove any build-up of particulates or dirt. The inside of the cell casing can then be easily wiped clean with a cloth before the heat exchange cartridge is slotted back into place. The filters located just behind the front cover can also be removed easily and cleaned. As part of the Lifetime Range, any requirement for component replacement, all repair and maintenance can be carried out simply and quickly by exchanging the worn out components. These would then be brought back to the Harrogate factory to be recycled. The RetroVent is designed to match the lifecycle of the dwelling and should never end up on landfill.
Installation Designed for through the wall installation, RetroVent has been designed for both refurbishment and new build properties. The outside diameter of the heat exchange casing is smaller than a standard wall sleeve and can therefore utilise an existing one already in place. This means that the direct replacement of a existing extractor fan can be quickly and easily achieved. RetroVent can be inverted 180 for replacement installations where the existing hole is located just below the ceiling. RetroVent also takes into account the complexities of different wall thicknesses to offer 2 main lengths that the heat exchange casing is manufactured to. There is also the option of made to measure lengths based on a minimum order quantity.

When the temperature reaches 25 C, the unit will switch to summer-bypass automatically to activate extract ventilation only. There is no requirement for user intervention. Pullcord Includes all the standard features with the addition of a pull cord for trickle to boost extract ventilation. Cell Types The Ø150 cell is available in two different versions, the High Flow and Thermal. High Flow For applications where the emphasis is on higher extract and supply airflow performance, the cell has been designed to incorporate larger tubes to allow increased air to pass through. Thermal For applications where higher thermal efficiency is required, the cell has been designed with smaller tubes at a diameter of 6.5mm, increasing the number of tubes within the cell and creating a greater surface area for heat to be recovered.
