3 1 Introduction The handgun is specially developed for manual applying of the adhesive to horizontal faces (like display s,carpets and to close boxes). The development was focused on easy to use, safety and sustainability. The advantage of the HP08 in comparison to the standard handguns is the mounting to the balancer/ turning arm, this allows you to control the handgun weightless. After applying glue both hands are free. So it s easy to continue assembling your product. The gun is almost fully covered to protect the operator for danger of burning. Unfortunately this is not entirely possible, therefore wear safety gloves while working with the handgun or during maintenance. To guarantee the sustainability we especially used standard components, like a standard module and standard air components. The insulating contact protection covers are made by high quality synthetic. Herein mounting grooves are applied so that the fit is 100% guaranteed. 4 2 Safety Symbols The safety symbols shown in this manual are described below. The safety instructions described below should be followed at all times. Attention: General safety instructions. With regards working with glues and other equipment. Caution hot surface: Danger of burning. Appliance parts have an high operation temperature. Caution high voltage: This type of work can only be carried out by qualified personal. 5 3 Installation Following work is only to be carried out by qualified personnel. Screw the hose using a spanner 19mm onto the swivel joint. To avoid turning of the swivel joint hold it with a spanner 19mm (figure 1). Figure 1 Connect the handgun with the hose by means of the connector (figure 2). Figure 2 T 0031 (0) W 5

6 Mount the handgun at the suspension. Attach the steel cable from the balancer to the suspension of the handgun (figure 3). Figure 3 Attach the Ø 6mm PTFE air tube, which comes out of the hose, into the plug in the handgun (figure 4). Figure 4 Connect the 12-pin male connector of the hose with the 12-pin female connector of the unit. Use the manual of the hotmelt unit. Adjust the temperatures of the hotmelt systemen as described in the manual of the hotmelt system. Use the temperatures as are given in the data sheet of the adhesive. T 0031 (0) W 6

After reaching the adjust temperatures please tighten once more all hydraulic screw connections. Now fix the enclosed safety cover around the hydraulic connection between the hose and the handgun. 8 To ensure that the glue can not block the air holes, open the air for the swirl meffect by using an hexagon 4mm. By pulling the trigger you can hear how much air comes out of the module. Figure 6 Caution: possible danger of uncontrolled release/ leakage of hot liquids. This might be caused by the air which is still present in the hose or HP08. Wear protective clothes. Start with a low pressure at your hotmelt system to avoid uncontrolled leak of hotmelt adhesive (pomp pressure set at 0,5 1 bar). Choose/ attach a nozzle by the required quantity. Adjust the required quantity of the glue by means of the regulator at your hotmelt appliance. The system is ready for use. T 0031 (0) W 8

18 8 Troubleshooter Problem Possible reason Recommendation No glue applied Too low temperature Wait until the HP08 reaches the adjust temperature. Too low air pressure at the gun It is important that the air pressure is +/- 6 bar at the HP08, to open the module. Too low pump pressure Increase pump pressure and check if the system is ready. Nozzle obstructed Replace or clean nozzle. Module broken Replace the module. Ensure that the system is depressurized. Handgun doesn t warm up Connector not plugged in well Check if the 6-pole male connector is plugged in well. Pin doesn t make contact Check if all pins are in place. Heater broken Measure the resistance between pin 1 and 2. If there is not, the heater is broken. Sensor/ temperature fault Connector not plugged in well Check if the 6-pole male connector is plugged in well. Pin doesn t make contact Check if all pins are in place. Sensor broken Measure the resistance between pin 3 and 5. (should be 130/140 Ω at 20 C ) If there is no or a different resistance, the sensor is broken. T 0031 (0) W 18
