59 Charging the System Before you start charging the system, there are other serious considerations Definitely consider installing a quality filterdrier Also consider a sight glass

67 Where should I install it?

69 FACTS No matter what company made the thermostatic expansion valve on your system, they are all designed to receive 100% Liquid refrigerant at the valve inlet. If you feed a TEV with liquid and vapor, the capacity of the TEV is reduced 50%!!!

71 Charging the System Pull a vacuum down to 500 microns Use a micron gauge. Not manifold gauges. Use hoses intended for pulling a vacuum. Not manifold gauge hoses. They leak under a vacuum. When you are certain there are no leaks (system holds a vacuum) charge the high side with liquid refrigerant. Start system and top it up with vapor refrigerant on the low side until you reach a full sight glass. You now have Subcooling Continue charging until you reach the proper amount of subcooling prescribed by the manufacturer
