Estimated 2355 kwh/year (approx. $550/yr) 6. Water heating rating increased from a 4 to a 5.5 star 7. Decrease in water heating energy from $916 to $330 per year.

13 Summary Team Housewise SHaC 2009 Retrofit of 1950s State House 1. Can retrofit 1950s house to modern/sustainable standard for < $100k 2. Team Effort - Residents input throughout project important - Builder and Architect willing to learn, take on advice, try new things and be involved in process - no one has all the answers 3. Must consider property improvements - not just the house 4. Reconfiguration, insulation are biggest impacts (?) 5. Thermal drapes & pelmets good alternative to double glazing (?) 6. Water tank probably too big for purpose (?) 7. Monitoring necessary to demonstrate expected performance (could include in future SHaCs)
