1 , CH2, Humidity Control Our Hanwell humidistats are designed to electronically control humidifiers, dehumidifiers and heaters. Each humidistat has a microprocess based system with 2 outputs and are used in conjunction with either the -01 the -03 power supplies detailed herewith. Stable environmental conditions are a vital requirement f the preservation of histic buildings and museum collections. When the humidity is constantly changing, hygroscopic materials will swell and contract, causing internal stress and this continuous cycle of movement will almost certainly result in damage. This problem is exaggerated in composite objects as the different materials may expand and contract at different rates. Organic objects contain relatively high proptions of water, these materials will respond to humidity changes. When the air is dry, these materials will give off moisture, this could cause the object to become brittle, shrink, crack. When the surrounding air is damp, these materials will absb moisture from the air; this could result in swelling, warping, cockling defmation. Relative humidity levels above 70% can cause mould and fungal growth on ganic materials. Inganic objects are also affected by changing humidity levels. Materials that contain salts (stone, ceramics) may suffer from efflescence when the air is dry. The salts are carried to the surface by moisture leaving the object. Metal objects can crode in a high humidity environment, and archaeological metal in particular needs to be kept at very low humidity levels. Leaving humidity uncontrolled could lead to irreversible damage. The ch range of conservation humidistats have been specifically designed to provide reliable humidity control in conservation environments. The ch range are microprocess based systems with 2 outputs to switch a humidifier, a dehumidifier both. Used in conjunction with either the -01 the -03 power supplies the ch range will control a wide variety of humidifiers, dehumidifiers and heaters (a heater can replace the dehumidifier f conservation heating purposes). What can we control? Using -01 with without -02 Slave unit in conjunction with a, CH2 the following can be controlled: Powered-on/sprung off 2 pt valve f wet heating system 20VAC wax filled valves to replace thermostatic radiat valves s (generally oil filled f safety) Humidifiers (not all humidifiers are suitable) check with IMC f suitability De-humidifiers (not all de-humidifiers are suitable) check with IMC f suitability IMC recommended de-humidifiers: IMC part number Z110 and Z166 contact us f details Desiccant de-humidifiers MUST NOT be used with humidistats due to a potential risk of overheating. 2 Hanwell Humidistat power supplies are designed very much with safety in mind. Our power supplies use electro-mechanical relays instead of solid state relays, (which generate me heat). Our relays are 2.5 times overrated that switch at 10 amps with the relay rated at 25 amps. As our units are designed not to generate excess heat they do not require ventilation to keep the unit cool. This enables our units to be enclosed, preventing dust and dirt to accumulate around the electronics, again eliminating the potential f a fire hazard. 5 CH2 Instrumentation Specification CH2 As per except it has two membrane switches f comft override when in conservation heating mode temperatures will be lower dictated by RH levels. Comft override changes from conservation heating mode to comft mode. This is used when room/space is being occupied to ensure that when in comft mode CH2 wks as a thermostat. 6 There are two options: Radio Transmitter Functions Frequency options: Software required*: Hardware required: *Required f central control only A range of frequencies are available between 33-58MHz. Country specific regulations apply. Conset Power unit required REP Repeater (optional) Option One has internal aerial f local control, this would be used with a local radio sens in the room with the programmed to directly respond only to that sens. This mode is used on smaller systems where the settings are not frequently changed. Settings are made directly on the via internal dip switches. In this mode the system can be used if there is no moniting system installed, alternatively if a moniting system is present this transmitter can also be added to the moniting system which will recd the data and produce alarms if required. In this mode the transmitter in the room would transmit back to the central station and the control signals would be transmitted back to the in the room. Schematic This mode has the advantage that the never needs to be directly accessed all control settings are handled at the central moniting station. Any number of units can be used in a single system. Local control PC Both units require a Hanwell RH/T radio transmitter ML similar.
