It consists of a scanner attached to a washer and dryer that reads an RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) tag in place of a regular tag on a piece of clothing. It also consists of database software that stores and organizes information sent by the scanner. The vast amount of information on the tag is then sent to an online database and displayed on a screen built into the washer/dryer. The information on these tags will contain washing/drying directions, an image of the item, information about color and material, how many times it has been washed, what store it was purchased from, etc. The online database will then allow customers to view a recount of dirty and clean laundry as well as an organized list of what clothes are currently owned.
