Dismantling the furnace to thoroughly inspect the heat exchanger is beyond the scope of this inspection. You are advised to obtain the services of a qualified gas fitter/technician to perform a complete inspection of your furnace prior to the start of the heating season. Supplementary Comments Recommend installing & testing regularly Carbon Monoxide Detectors (locate in bedroom area + rooms with fireplace) and new Smoke sensors (mandatory every floor). Propane & Natural Gas sensors are also available in stores. ($35-$60)It is very important that water & runoff drain away from foundations to minimize chance of water leakage into the basement, as cracks in foundation walls are common.
