Supply 750 m 3 /hr 208 l/sec 230v 50Hz 42W 1400 m 3 /hr 389 l/sec 230v 50HZ 102W 2. FIRST STEPS: Unpack the fan and check that the unit is correct and has not been damaged in transit. If any item is damaged, do not use but report the damage to your supplier. 3. WARNINGS: 3.1 The fan must not be used in an ambient temperature higher than 40 O C (104 O F). 3.2 An adequate supply of fresh air must be provided if the fan is to be fitted in a room 3.3 All electrical connections must comply with BS7671: It is a requirement in this standard that all appliances shall be installed via a double pole switched, fused connection unit having switch contact openings of at least 3mm and fitted with a 3amp fuse. It is recommended that the installation is carried out by a qualified electrician. 4. GENERAL INFORMATION: 4.1 Fans (except the MV230P) incorporate a neon indicator to show when the fans are operating. 4.2 The fans are suitable for installation into a window, wall, veiling, panel and sealed double glazing units (with relevant accessories). 4.3 The fans comply with BS3456 and BS EN The fans are CE marked and comply with the EC Directive EMC 89/ In case of failure, disconnect the supply and contact Airflow Service Department on It is recommended that the fan is disconnected from the supply when not in use. 5. WIRING INSTRUCTIONS: 5.1 Disconnect the mains electricity supply before making any wiring connections. 5.2 Refer to the wiring diagrams and work out a suitable wiring scheme, taking into account existing wiring, junction boxes and cable entry to the fan. 5.3 The fan is double insulated and does not require earthing. 5.4 The fans are wired using a plug/socket arrangement located in a terminal box mounted on motor/fan assembly (item 3a in Fig.3). Remove the terminal block cover by removing the single screw and hinging the cover aside. Remove the female section of the terminal block and wire as shown in the wiring diagram. Replace the female section of the terminal block and terminal cover before replacing the front cover.

INSTALLATION: Refer to Fig Cut a hole for the fan exhaust outlet in the required position, sized as follows: - Models MV230/MV230AR: 254mm to 258mm diameter Models MV300AR: 324mm to 329mm diameter. 6.2 Remove the front cover (item 1 Fig.3) by pressing the black buttons on each side of the fan (or unscrewing the buttons on the Model MV300AR fan). 6.3 Unscrew the four screws (item 2) and remove the motor/fan assembly (item 3). 6.4 Remove outside grille (item 15) by unscrewing the brass slotheaded nuts (item 4) recessed in the main casing (item 5) 6.5 WINDOW INSTALLATION: Suitable for window thicknesses up to 20mm Position the outside grille (item 15) on the outside of the window, line up the main casing (item 5) and tighten into position by means of screwing back the slotheaded nuts (item 4). WALL INSTALLATION: 1) Fix wall rods (item 10) to the outside grille (item 15) using M5 brass nuts (item 12: 4 off for MV230P/MV230AR fans and 6 off for MV300AR fan). 2) Insert the wall plate (item 7) over the extension rods (using holes closest to the spigot) ensuring that the spigot is protruding into the hole. 3) Fix a wall sleeve (of 250mm dia. For MV230P/MV230AR fans and 315mm dia. For MV300AR fan not supplied) over the wall rods to mate with the spigots on the outside grille (item 15) and the wall plate (item 7)

4 4) Line up the main casing (item 5) with the wall rods and tighten into position with the brass slotheaded nuts (item 4). CEILING INSTALLATION: A ceiling kit consisting of an additional wall plate and ducting is required for this installation. 1) Cut a hole (as detailed in section 6.1) in both the ceiling and outside all. 2) Position the outside grille (item 15) on the outside of the wall, line up the additional wall plate on the inside wall with its spigot facing inwards and fix into position with M5 brass nuts. 3) Use the wall plate (item 7) as a template to mark four fixing holes (those closest to the spigot) and drill M5 clearance. 4) With the wall plate (item 7) on the other (loft) side of the ceiling, and with its spigot pointing away from the ceiling, fix the main casing of the fan (item 5) to the wall plate with the fan casing inside the room. 5) Fix ducting between the wall plate spigot attached to the outer wall and the wall plate spigot attached to the ceiling. 6.6 After installation, manually check that the fan impeller rotates easily. 6.7 Feed in wire (2-core for MV230/P fan and 4-core for MV230AR?MV300AR fans with speed controller) through the black grommet on the top of the fan. 6.8 Remove the screw which keeps the terminal block cover (item 3a) in position on the motor/fan assembly (item 3). 6.9 Connect the fan as per the appropriate wiring diagram in section Re-position the motor/fan assembly (item 3), tightening into position with 4-off screws (item 2) 6.11 Ensure that the front cover louvers are in their open position before replacing the front cover.

5 7. TESTING: 7.1 When the installation is complete, switch on the electricity supply 7.2 Model MV230P (pullcord operation) Check that operating the pullcord will alternately start and stop the fan. With the fan operating, check that an adequate amount of air is being exhausted (i.e. no blockages are present) and fan noise is not excessive. 7.3 Models MV230AR/MV300AR (with speed controller: refer to Fig.4). 1) With speed controller rotary switch S3 set to position 1 (slowest speed), set switch S1 (on/off switch) to position 1. Check the following: - Switch A1 illuminates The neon on top of the fan illuminates The front cover shutters open slowly after a delay (taking approximately 30 to 45 seconds to fully open) 2) Turn switch S3 clockwise to position 2 and note that the fan speed increases. Repeat for positions 3, 4 and 5. With S3 in position 5 (highest fan speed) check that the fan noise is not excessive. 3) With S3 in position 5, select other position on switch S2 and note that the direction of the fan impeller reverses. 4) Select position 0 on switch S3 and check that fan becomes stationary, but the shutters remain open. 5) Switch S1 to position 0 (off) and note that the front cover shutters slowly close (taking approximately 1-2 minutes to fully close). 8. USER INFORMATION: 8.1 Operation. To operate the fan follow the procedure in section 7. If your Airflow fan fails to work correctly, contact the installer or failing that, contact Airflow Service Department on High Wycombe (01494) Safety. When installed and used according to these instructions, your Airflow fan is completely safe. The materials employed do not constitute a hazard. 8.3 Cleaning. The exterior of the fan may be cleaned with a dry cloth The interior of the fan should also be cleaned occasionally. First, disconnect from the mains electrical supply, remove the front cover and then the motor/fan assembly as described in sections 6.2 & 6.3. The front cover may be washed with a mild detergent but the fan body must be wiped with a clean dry cloth. On no account must the motor be immersed in water or strong solvents used.
