2 About the Conservation District The Charlevoix Conservation District works to protect natural resource conservation efforts in Charlevoix County through partnerships, community outreach and landowner support. Page 11 FOR RENT Staff Alison Adams, District Coordinator, Alison coordinates and facilitates the programs, products and services for the district, along with partnering with several local and state groups to promote natural resource conservation in Charlevoix County. Alison has been with the district since 2015, but has lived in northern MI and worked in conservation for 17 years. Alison enjoys connecting children with nature, so watch for available outreach programs in the coming years! Chris Anderson, MAEAP Technician, Chris has been with the district for 18 years, and has been the local MAEAP Technician for 13 years. Chris works with landowners and farmers to help them become environmentally sustainable through the Michigan Agriculture and Environmental Assurance Program. Chris s services are available throughout four northern Michigan counties: Emmet, Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Otsego. www. MAEAP.org. Board Members Tim Matchett, Chair Eric Beishlag, Vice Chair Pamela Hilton, Treasurer Dennis Howard, Member timmatchett@hotmail.com ericbeishlag@yahoo.com pshilton@mtu.edu dhoward5599@yahoo.com Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30 PM * Mechanical Tree Planter It has a 3-point hitch and is pulled by a tractor. A 40 hp tractor will pull the planter through very soft soil. If your planting site doesn t meet this condition, a larger tractor ( hp) will be needed. A large tub holds the trees in front of a comfortable yellow seat. The large disc in front slices the ground, followed by a plow shoe which opens the soil for tree placement. By hand, you place the tree in position and a cement packer wheel follows close behind to close and firm the soil. A handy clicker signals when the spacing is appropriate for the next tree. Transporting the tree planter is easy. Hauled on a 4 x 8 trailer, it can be easily lifted on and off with your tractor. The tree planter is stored at the District Office. To schedule a time to rent the planter call: COST: $50.00 per day
