The designs in this catalogue are from our extensive library of innovative concepts and are either in construction, awaiting project finance or just a great concept waiting to be brought to life.

6 ANOTHER WORLD We created a memorable environment within the surrounds of the mall complete with gaia sphere representing some of the world s most exotic natural habitats. All visitors to the aquarium and discovery center will be able to interact and learn about the conservation of species on the planet and also in their own local environment. The complex also has a botanical garden and an aqua park to cater for the active and meditative person.

7 PROJECT 01 Seven Seas Explorer The Seven Seas Explorer complex is the very best in international aquatic discovery and entertainment. The complex is made up of a central aquarium and aquatic activities surrounded by retail and entertainment facilities which includes a community center, meeting room, main entertainment area, bowling alley, gaming, movies, ice-skating, international restaurant brands, climbing walls, bungee jumping, botanical gardens, gymnasium, spa, children discovery zone and a play centre. 10 At this proposed complex it is envisioned that the development will provide an innovative, inspiring and relaxing destination which will have entertainment, recreation and retail facilities.

11 Individual elements within the development will have a synergistic connection based on the sympathetic and well considered pl acement of these elements. Emphasis will be given throughout the development to introducing educational and learning opportunities, ensuring that the complex will become a community-oriented destination. The development will provide a canvas for connecting members of the local community. We imagine a broad, changing spectrum of activities, from the most casual and personal moments, to group events, family moments and formal group celebrations. The success of the development will be measured by the new experiences and recurring rituals that people create there. The development will be guided by principles of environmental awareness, and will utilise energy efficient building systems, and appropriate selection of materials and form to maximize long term performance. 13 PROJECT 04 Atrium Gardens Complex The proposed complex comprises of a botanical garden, aquarium, retail shops, conference facility, art galleries, reptile and butterfly displays. The upper floor botanical garden can be substituted for an aqua park if required. The basement structure lies 6.0m below the ground surface with a reflection pool around the surrounding upperfloor building. The atrium construction uses ETFE over a Teriodial Dome with Tubular truss frames. 15 PROJECT 05 Tropical Garden Aquarium Tropical Garden Aquarium Size: 5,600m 2 Cost: $2,200 EUR p/m 2 Program: 10 months Aquarium Size: 2,100,000 Litres Exhibition Area/Tanks: 14 This aquarium was an initial concept that finished in the constructed Pattaya Aquarium. The completed aquarium has a tension membrane (canvas) roof, as the sketches show. The model is very good for hot climates such as Singapore, Thailand, India, Malaysia and all equatorial climates.

17 The aquarium is ideal for a small boutique development in a tropical climate. This design is similar to Aquamarine s Sea Park Aquarium, however the banquet facility has been removed. We have developed this design to a construction drawing phase, and recommend this design for an Asian climate. 19 PROJECT 07 Sea Tube Aquarium Sea Tube Aquarium Size: 5,500m 2 Cost: $2,200 USD p/m 2 Program: 10 months Aquarium Size: 45,100,000 Litres (Including Seabed surround) Exhibition Area/Tanks: 20 This is one of Ian Mellsop s first designs with a Sea-Tube. The entrance hall has the ticketing, information areas, café and shop. Once the visitor departs this area they go into the Sea-Tube and out into the real sea. The journey takes them inside the water dome and back into the sea, returning to the shop and café. The aquarium will have the ability to rehabilitate injured mammals such as dolphins and sea turtles.

21 This aquarium can be manufactured off-site in a dry-dock and barged to the site. Given that the design is flexible, it can be placed in a port situation or anywhere in a calm water area. 23 This aquarium combines the Sea-Tube with a land based walkway and an entrance building to strengthen the relationship between the land and sea harmoniously. The design has over 250 meters of Sea-Tube making it the longest underwater walkway in the world. 25 PROJECT 10 Research Facility Aquarium The aquarium is split into three distinctive areas: the first is the aquarium, the second is a building dedicated to a college type facility for marine biology, and the third a large panoramic tank. The students can practise and learn in an environment designed based on the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. The facility could also offer the only large public aquarium design qualification in the world. 27 PROJECT 11 Eco Aquarium Complex This design is for a very hot climate. The client wished we designed the aquarium to be a fully sustainable aquarium. The aquarium features green walls, tropical internal landscaping, recycling water throughout the aquarium and solar panels. We also designed skylights with diffused light so the main tank can get natural lighting.
