2 Description: Retail Refurbishment Scope of work: Interior Design Contract Value: RM 3 million Commencement: April 2001 Completion: November 2001 Nadin Management ampang point shopping centre Various elements of this established retail centre were refurbished and fitted out including the design for a 30,000 sq ft, 30 lane bowling centre, a 20,000 sq ft owner operated departmental store and the introduction of cantilevered steel bridges to the centre atrium. The introduction of these bridges greatly improved vertical circulation which formerly required customers to follow an extended route around the centre in order to reach the upper levels of the building. 28 retail retail 29

3 Description: Retail Outlet Scope of work: Interior Design Contract Value: RM 6 million Commencement: August 2000 Completion: June 2001 louis vuitton, starhill Our team worked with the concept designers for Louis Vuitton, as part of the international team delivering the Louis Vuitton Global Store for Kuala Lumpur. Louis Vuitton represents the highest quality in fashion and haute couture and the dedication of their international team is evident in the way that each element of the store is finely detailed and crafted. Key components were built by craftsmen in France and Hong Kong and thereafter imported and implemented by those craftsmen in Malaysia. 30 retail retail 31

4 Description: Retail Design Scope of work: Interior Design Contract Value: RM 6 million Commencement: July 1999 Completion: May 2000 MVC Centre Management mid valley entertainment floor Part of Mid Valley Mall in Kuala Lumpur, this 400,000 sq ft space on the uppermost floor was identified as a food and entertainment destination. The retail planning and identification of specific tenant zones was followed by detailed design of all tenant shop fronts, public area finishes and tenant signage guidelines, including the preliminary concept layouts for the food court. Two story shop fronts were devised within this nine metre high space with their own internal stairs. The overall identity was developed as an urban streetscape and individual tenants were encouraged to create their own identity within a structural framework provided under the base building works. Outdoor materials and finishes were appropriate in creating a less conventional retail environment. 32 retail retail 33

5 Description: Scope of Works: Retail and Exhibition Centre Architecture, Interior Design and Exhibition RM 20 million Contract Value: Commencement: November 1998 Completion: April 1999 Royal Selangor International royal selangor international headquarters redevelopment Royal Selangor proposed to upgrade their existing ten acre headquarters which involved the design of an administration office building, upgrading of existing premises and the design for a new exhibition and visitor showroom to reflect their international growth and position in the global market. The original visitor centre consisted of a showroom which was part of their office premises and a small tour of the existing factory highlighting a few phases of the manufacturing process. The new visitor centre now occupies a combined area of approximately 70,000 sq ft, and engages customers in a colourful and informative journey through the life of Royal Selangor and the entire manufacturing process. In addition to providing information on the specific properties and performance of pewter and its derivatives. The visitor experience combines educational, commercial and recreational ideas which invite the customer to engage in the product and form a greater understanding and appreciation of it as a handcrafted material. 34 retail retail 35

6 Our team worked with Royal Selangor management and product design team not only to evolve the architecture of the new buildings, but also the detailed design and documentation of every exhibit. The architectural concept defines a spine running through both new and existing buildings so as to create a continuous customer flow and a dynamic axis which links all of the buildings. The roof structure which commences at the entrance atrium penetrates through the existing office building and arrives at the factory showroom visually leading the visitor through the spine as the story of Royal Selangor is unveiled. Finally visitors are brought to a large retail space where they are invited to purchase products. The showroom is at the end of the visitor experience but by virtue of the physical links between space at upper and lower levels, the customers are always aware of the retail presence below as they explore the visitor centre at the upper level. The use of structural steel elements for the atrium and the bridge which penetrates through the existing building, together with the light weight metal roof structure, creates an elegant form whilst the suspended glazing system at the atrium provides a light contemporary space for public functions. 36 retail retail 37

7 Description: Retail Development Scope of Works: Architecture and Interior Design Contract Value: RM 30 million Commencement: February 2004 Completion: December 2004 YTL Land starhill gallery The redevelopment of Starhill Gallery involved the re-planning and interior design of approximately 120,000 sq ft of retail space which was originally occupied by a department store. The design creates specialty retail zones catering to a specific customer profile and is focused on fine dining, watches, jewelry, lifestyle, health and retail under the identity names of Feast, Indulge, Adorn, Explore, Pamper, Relish and Muse. Each zone was branded identifying the particular focus of the area. 38 retail retail 39

8 Description: Lifestyle Retail Scope of work: Architectura and Interior Design Contract Value: RM 400 million Commencement: September 2004 Completion: August 2008 Hektar Group hilltop nusajaya Hilltop at Nusajaya retail development represents a quantum leap forward for retail experience in Malaysia, offering over 75 acres of resort style retail, entertainment and dining in a park environment. Ten individual buildings linked by covered bridges provide over a million square feet of tenanted space on two levels and more than 5,000 carpark spaces in basement structures and shaded outdoor zones. Individual buildings are grouped around plaza spaces in a village atmosphere, creating a community destination in a subtle blend of cultural influences and contemporary facilities. 40 retail retail 41

9 Description: Retail Development Scope of Works: Architecture and Interior Design Contract Value: RM 15 million Commencement: July 2004 Completion: March 2006 Great Eastern Life the weld shopping centre The Weld is a long established shopping centre in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The interior design role was to reposition this centre by increasing prime retail opportunity in planning terms and to create value by redesign and implementation of new finishes throughout. Works included the design of all floors and the main atrium skylight, which was raised to ensure that all floors are now accessible via the main atrium space. 42 retail retail 43

10 Description: Retail Redevelopment Scope of Works: Architecture and Interior Design Contract Value: RM 13 million Commencement: December 2004 Completion: January 2007 UDA bukit bintang plaza This project involved the repositioning of an established retail destination on one of the main shopping districts in Kuala Lumpur. The existing centre known as BB Plaza has long been associated and somewhat dominated by its closely associated neighbour Sungai Wang. The programme of refurbishment not only addressed the finishes and identity of Bukit Bintang Plaza but also created a new F&B destination on Jalan Bukit Bintang, a two storey atrium space at the external façade, creating an elegant contemporary addition served by new escalators bringing customers directly into the first floor space from the street. Internally, new voids and skylights are formed and vertical circulation is adjusted to allow greater accessibility to the upper levels. 44 retail retail 45

11 Description: Retail Shopping Centre Architectural Design Scope of work: Concept Design Contract Value: RM 15 million Commencement: October 2002 Completion: January 2003 Mr Luo Shi Realty shanghai gu mei This design calls for a 1.5 million sq ft new retail development in the Gu Mei suburb of Shanghai. The vast population of the outer suburbs of Shanghai creates demand for such dense specialty retail environments with less focus on anchor retail space. The development is part of an overall master plan, which incorporates new residential apartments, a public park and lake. It is served by an elevated rail link into the heart of Shanghai. This submission was made for the purpose of seeking local government approval for the development of the land. 46 retail retail 47

12 Description: Retail Refurbishment Scope of work: Interior Design and Implementation Contract Value: RM 20 million Commencement: December 2003 Completion: August 2006 Hektar Group subang parade Part of the overall redevelopment of Subang Parade which comprises the upgrading of the existing shopping centre including the enhancement of the external facades and entry points and the exploration of additional retail opportunities in terms of new retail and F&B outlets. Internal areas are upgraded including redesign of all public areas. Whilst existing vertical circulation infrastructure remains, the intent is to create a clean, neutral backdrop for all public areas allowing tenant fit out to remain the dominant focus. 48 retail retail 49

13 westgate Part of the Westgate retail village development by Filinvest Corporation in the Philippines; this new entertainment building provides restaurants and retail outlets planned around a 500 seat auditorium. The building is developed as an integral part of a low-density, pedestrian friendly village environment and therefore the design is focused on creating a live external facade to the building whilst the main auditorium space is absorbed into the core of the structure. Description: Market Place Scope of work: Architectural Design and Documentation Contract Value: RM 5 million Commencement: March 2005 Completion: March 2006 Fiilinvest Corporation southgate Description: Scope of work: Market Place Architectural Design and Documentation RM 15 million Contract Value: Commencement: March 2005 Completion: March 2006 Fiilinvest Corporation This 200,000 sq ft, two storey development is a covered market place, targeted for the huge consumer base of Metro Manila who utilise the extensive public transportation network to and from the suburbs. The building combines a major bus transportation hub with the introduction of a light open air structure accommodating some 1500 individual market traders each with a retail space of sq ft. The topograhy of the site allows for main street entry at both upper and lower levels and direct access from the bus station. 50 retail retail 51
