4 Wiring Details Setting up the RapidDome Dome Mounting The RapidDome Dome is designed for speed of installation and set up and so the wall and ceiling mount brackets are supplied pre-wired. Customer wiring is via an internal terminal block PCB that is located inside the base plastic cover. (See for the location of the terminal block and for the wiring details.) The false ceiling versions of the RapidDome Dome are supplied with a 3m cable. 6 Settings on the RapidDome Dome Top Board In the following section, please refer to below, for the locations on the board. TERMINATION OFF ON LK1 DILSW1 - Jupiter Microsphere protocol, address setting DIL Switch. 1 8 VC 445V3 VC L D2 - Sys OK LED This LED is illuminated if the receiver is being controlled by Coax telemetry and is selected by the transmitter. If the receiver is being controlled by twisted pair, it will flash whenever a valid telemetry command is received. The RapidDome Dome Board LED D2 will illuminate if the receiver that is being controlled by Coax Control is selected by the transmitter and the coax control code is satisfactory. If the receiver is being controlled by twisted pair control, LED D2 will flash whenever a valid command is received.

7 Address Settings The addresses for each Dome are set as shown in the table below. Set the Poles on DILSW 1 to the desired position for each address. 8 Coax Control Up-the-Coax RapidDome Domes do not require an address setting; therefore the settings of positions 1-7 on DILSW1 are ignored. Position 8 controls the alarm feature as described in Section 7. LED on the RapidDome Dome Bottom Board In the following section please refer to below for the locations on the board. D19 DATA D19 - Data Received LED Flashes whenever a valid telemetry command is received The RapidDome Dome Bottom Board LED D19 will flash each time a valid control command for this receiver is received. Alarm Settings Switch 8 of the 8 way DIL switch (DILSW1: see on page 3) is used to toggle the RapidDome Domes alarm setting. When the switch is ON the RapidDome Domes alarm inputs are enabled and set to the default settings as shown in the table below. If switch 8 is OFF then the alarms are not automatically enabled, but can be enabled and adjusted using a MaxCom with local alarm menus. (See the MaxCom instructions for details of alarm setting menus.)

When the alarm time-out has expired the RapidDome Dome will return to its pre-alarm state and Relay 1 will open its contacts (provided no other alarms have been activated and are still timing out). Alarm / Relay Connections The connections to the alarm inputs and relay output are via 2 RJ45 sockets located at the top of the RapidDome, shown below.

11 Relay 2 is controlled by a MaxComs 0 AUX momentary function and can be used to control auxiliary equipment. The maximum current rating for the 2 relays is 24V DC or 120VAC Installing the RapidDome Dome When handling the RapidDome Dome, DO NOT touch the acrylic, or any sensitive or precision parts, as this will cause damage to the unit. Installing the RapidDome Dome Ceiling and Wall Mounted Models Details of the ceiling and wall mount brackets, including dimensions. 12 PUSH UP POLE ALIGN LUG TO SLOT Fitting the RapidDome Dome into the bracket Step 2 Align the lug on the RapidDome Dome with the slot on the bracket. Carefully push the RapidDome Dome into the bracket and twist clockwise. Allow to drop into the retainer. PUSH UP TWIST Fitting the RapidDome Dome into the bracket 3 Fit the M3 CSK safety locking screw into the bracket to lock the RapidDome Dome in place. This is ESSENTIAL for the safe operation of the RapidDome Dome. (The hole for the screw is on the opposite side of the pole to the slot.) 4 Attach the cable cover. This is supplied as two halves that snap together over the neck of the RapidDome as shown below.

13 C able C over 2 havle s sn a p to g e ther Fitting the Cable Covers When the RapidDome Dome is to be fitted to a JD5S80 (80mm) mounting pole, then the hole in the cable cover will need to be aligned with the screw hole in the pole when fitting the M3 CSK safety locking screw as shown below. Mounting the RapidDome Dome in an angled ceiling installation will affect the units center of gravity and, consequently, programmed tours will be affected. The false ceiling kit requires a clear area of 270mm diameter for installation. See below for details

(1.25 kg) 2 Using the retaining ring as a template, cut a 160mm diameter hole in the ceiling using an appropriate tool. 3 Drill three 6mm holes on the 186mm PCD to accept the mounting studs. 4 Follow the installation diagram in to fit the Lanyard. Ensure that the Lanyard is fitted correctly at the point indicated. (Point A.) 5 Insert the RapidDome Dome through the ceiling and fit the retaining disk to the back of the RapidDome Dome. (The rear of the ceiling face). 6 Screw down the three M4 Nyloc nuts to lock the RapidDome Dome into place

15 Lanyard A M3 Screw and washer M4 Nyloc nut and washer DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN M4 Nut Fitting the Lanyard Sample Configurations and Notes for RS485 Twisted Pair Installations Individual Twisted Pair Output If a single RapidDome is to be connected to an individual twisted pair output, then the link should be fitted across pins 1 and 2 on LK1. This sets the termination to ON. See below for a sample Configuration RS485 from Transmitter or ADCD16TP KEY = Data + = Data - Shield Insulate Shield Do NOT connect shield to RapidDome Yellow Blue RapidDome Dome Termination LK1 across pins 1 and 2 (Termination on) Individual Twisted Pair Output Twisted Pair and Daisy Chain connections Twisted pair RS485 RapidDome Domes may be daisy chained up to a maximum of 32 units from a single twisted pair RS485 output. When this option is used, it is imperative

16 that the termination link LK1 is set correctly. In a chain of RapidDome Domes, the link MUST be fitted across pins 2 and 3 (termination OFF), for all domes in the chain except the final one. The link MUST be fitted across pins 1 and 2 of the last RapidDome Dome, (termination ON). Below shows a system using two RapidDome Domes in this way. Star Connections DO NOT connect several twisted pair RS485 telemetry receivers in a Star Connection to one twisted pair output using long cables - use the daisy chain method detailed above instead. If separate cables are brought back from the RapidDome Domes to the transmitter then the ADCD16TP MUST be used to provide individual RS485 output to the cameras. ADCD16TP must also be used in systems that have more than 32 RapidDome Domes.

18 The above rules concerning the use of RS485 must be adhered to so that the control data is not corrupted. Failure to adhere to these rules will seriously reduce the performance of the RapidDome Dome
